A series of insightful and Bible-centered sermons on great (and not so great) women of the Bible from the mind and pen of one of America’s great preachers. Of this series Macartney wrote: “Among the subjects of the sermons in this volume is one of the bad women of the Bible, for no series on women of the Bible would be complete without a sermon on such a character as Delilah, the temptress of Samson.“To preach on these biblical women is to illustrate life in its deepest reality – sometimes base, ignoble, comtemptible and wicked, but often lofty, noble, godlike, and glorious. Like the great men of the Bible, too, the great women of the Bible afford the preacher an unsurpassed opportunity to press home upon the people the claims of Christ as Friend and Redeemer.”
In this series of thirteen sermons, Macartney uses his “sanctified imagination” and bibilcal knowledge to glean lessons from the lives of Ruth, Esther, Rahab, Lot’s Wife, Martha and Mary, Delilah, Abigail, Rachel, Rebekah, The Samaritan Woman, The Shunammite, The Woman with the Issue of Blood, and The Faithful Woman of Proverbs 31.

Living With Aids

A victim of the dread pandemic … Boyd shares the practical reality of his intimate experiences with the illness, his daily struggles to face death, his relationships with others whom he loves, both inside and outside the church, and who risk sharing their love with him in return. His words are not only informative, but inspire any reader to make direct application of faith perspectives no matter how severe, untimely, or unpredicated.
“His refusal to accept morbidity for whatever days remain for him call us to a commitment to God’s purposes — one day at a time. I could not put the book down. More importantly, it will never release me.”
Leontine T. C. Kelly
President, AIDS National Interfaith Network
Bishop (Retired), San Francisco Area United Methodist Church“Terry Boyd’s writings during the last year of his life represent the faith journey of a man who has no illusions. He is going to die and he knows it…. Herein you will read about his spiritual journey, the milestones along the way, the importance of prayer, his ability to rely on God and experience God’s presence. Terry also writes about the fear, bigotry, isolation, and financial hardships which too often follow a diagnosis of AIDS and which persons of faith are called to address.
“Faith is a rod by which we measure life. When I visit Terry I take a ladder. Thanks for the soul’s embrace, Terry: for that ‘love that flows between two spirits like water in a stream. ‘ “

They Found The Secret
$19.99Add to cart“The exchanged life.” Hudson Taylor first used the term to describe what it means to know Christ as our sufficiency in all things. Taylor is but one of the many Christian luminaries who have discovered Christ as the secret to abundant living. John Bunyan, Andrew Murray, Amy Carmichael, Oswald Chambers, Charles Finney-behind the varied lives and personalities of these and other men and women lies a common theme, a pattern that leads from desperation to the abundant life Jesus promised. From their stories, we too can find the path to deeper faith and a more vital relationship with God. In They Found the Secret, Raymond Edman presents the lives of twenty well-known and little-known Christians. “The details of their experience of the crisis of the deeper life are delightfully different,” Edman writes, “yet their testimony to the reality of the joy and power of the Spirit-filled life is unanimous . . . It is [the Lord] who satisfies the longing soul. He is the secret of the exchanged life!”

Life Of Our Lord
$23.00Add to cartCharles Dickens–perhaps the best loved of all English novelists–here, in his own unique style, brings to life the gospel account of Jesus. This–the last work of Dickens to be published–is a beautiful retelling of the familiar Bible story. Originally handwritten by Dickens for his own children this inspiring account was created in order that they might know more of the book Dickens called “the best that ever was or will be known in the world.” The work remained, at the authors request, unpublished for eighty-five years. Dickens no doubt refused to permit publication because it was such a personal communication to his own children, and he did not want his deepest religious convictions to be subjected to public discussions. After the death of Dickens youngest child in 1933, publication was permitted and the work appeared in newspaper serialization and later in book form. It is now part of the rare books collection of the Free Library of Philadelphia. This charming, nostalgic work includes illustrations of pages from the original manuscript, a portrait of Dickens children, and engravings of Biblical scenes in a style often used in family Bibles during Dickens time. Definitely a work to be cherished. The Life of Our Lord is one book certain to be read again and again.

From Lost To Found
$17.99Add to cartDo you “have it all” and wonder why you still feel empty? Are you facing struggles that you cannot overcome alone? Discover God’s transformational grace and a path to peace and healing from marriage and family therapist Nicole Zasowski.
Nicole felt her greatest joy was to help her clients know their inherent value and safety. What she could not see was that she was personally missing out on the peace she was so passionate about helping others find. She had no idea that coping behaviors she had relied on since childhood–performing, control, and independence–held her identity and sense of security together and only numbed the broken parts of her that needed healing. She lived her life from a deep belief that peace and joy could be found only on the far side of a dream realized, a change of venue, or a goal achieved.
But as Nicole would discover, the coping behaviors we adopt in order to protect ourselves from pain in our early years become barriers to meaning and connection later in life. When she faced multiple miscarriages, a devastating diagnosis, relational struggles, a cross-country move, and a job change, these protective behaviors failed. In the midst of pain, Nicole discovered that the unlikely path to healing begins when we release the protective behaviors we once trusted and find ourselves with open hands to receive what we need in the transforming reality of God’s grace. Through vulnerable storytelling, wise teaching, and thought-provoking questions, Nicole guides readers to consider their own pain and coping behaviors and points them toward healing truths.

Christ Of The Indian RoadAdditional Info
Christ of the Indian Road” is a first-person account of E. Stanley Jones’ experiences as a Christian missionary in India almost 100 years ago. He describes the journey that he undertook from a presumptuous young missionary hoping to bring meaning into the lives of lost pagans (my wording) to a seasoned veteran proclaimer of the joy found through following Christ, ultimately trying to contextualize Christ within a rich, religious Indian culture. Jones clearly communicates his disdain for the common mistake that many Christians make to assume that our cultural framework is the “Christian” one, trying to superimpose our culture on top of the culture of those to whom we bring Christ. As an alternative approach, Jones admonishes us to learn from other cultures, to respect the truth that can be found in them, and to allow Christ to enter into that culture on His terms and on their terms, not on our terms.
