  • Holy Hot Mess

    $17.99

Mary Katherine Backstrom shares heart-breaking and hilarious stories of how God uses each “mess” in our lives to bring us closer to Him. She shows readers that it’s okay to celebrate exactly where they are right now-holy, hot mess and all.

A lot of people struggle with the concept of being holy. But the fact is, even the hottest of messes are being shaped–right now–into Jesus’ likeness. In this book, Mary Katherine shares the sometimes–hidden evidence of God’s work in her life and shows you that it’s okay to embrace the hot messes.

Holy Hot Mess is separated into three parts:
*You Are Messy (Identity and Parenting)
*They Are All a Mess (Love and Friendship)
*Being a Hot, Holy Mess (Faith)

The book will cover all of the topics that plague our hearts every day with raw honest truth with a side of laughter. Mary Katherine invites you into her story as a friend, encouraging you to embrace the hot messes in your life because you are the person God created you to be.

  • Bamboozled By Jesus

    $17.99

Thriving stand-up comic and actress Yvonne Orji–best known as Issa Rae’s BFF on the HBO series, Insecure–shares the secrets to living the life of your dreams.

Yvonne Orji has never shied away from being unapologetically herself, and that includes being outspoken about her faith. Known for interpreting Biblical stories and metaphors to fit current times, her humorous and accessible approach to faith leaves even non-believers inspired and wanting more.

The way Yvonne sees it, God is a Sovereign Prankster, punking folks long before Ashton Kutcher made it cool. When she meditates on her own life–complete with unforeseen blessings and unanticipated roadblocks–she realizes it’s one big testimony to how God tricked her into living out her wildest dreams. And she wants us to join in on getting bamboozled. This is not a Self-Help book–it’s a Get Yours book!

In Bamboozled by Jesus, a frank and fresh advice book, Orji takes readers on a journey through twenty-five life lessons, gleaned from her own experiences and her favorite source of inspiration: the Bible. But this ain’t your mama’s Bible study. Yvonne infuses wit and heart in sharing pointers like why the way up is sometimes down, and how fear is synonymous to food poisoning. Her joyful, confident approach to God will inspire everyone to catapult themselves out of the mundane and into the magnificent.

With bold authenticity and practical relatability, Orji is exactly the kind of cultural leader we need in these chaotic times. And her journey through being Bamboozled by Jesus paints a powerful picture of what it means to say “yes” to a life you never could’ve imagined–if it wasn’t your own.

  • Crowned With Glory

    $17.99

America was founded on the concept of the innate and inalienable rights of humankind. Many Christians see an echo of the imago Dei–that every human being carries the image of God–within those ideals. Yet these rights were systemically withheld from the Black and enslaved residents of this country for centuries. Through it all, Black people have proclaimed the truth of their dignity and personhood in powerful and profound ways.

Crowned with Glory collects many of the writings of these men and women, both familiar and lesser-known, to shine a light on what has always been there: an enormous movement of Black Americans demanding the liberty they were promised and deserved. With moving and insightful reflections on these oft-forgotten or suppressed voices, author Jasmine L. Holmes offers a hopeful and encouraging testament to the power of unrelenting cries for justice that will strike a chord with anyone looking for a robust Christian history of resistance.

If you want to understand how we got here, read this book. If you want to know where we go from here, read it again.

  • All Hope Is Found

    $17.99

Hope is not a wish waiting to come true. It’s not an external desire waiting to be realized. Hope is an ever-present reality regardless of how dire a situation may seem.

Undoubtedly, there are moments when hope is obscure. That’s because hope has many hiding places. It hides behind heartbreak, camouflages in stress, and disguises itself in grief. It only takes a few disappointments before our expectations are hijacked by doubt and disbelief. Hope is easy to lose and hard to find, but there is never a season when hope is out of reach.

All Hope is Found, by bestselling author of Woman Evolve Sarah Jakes Roberts, will show

    *Hope can be broken.
    *Hope can be reframed.
*Hope can be put to work.
    *Hope can spread.

Inspiring you towards the pursuit of hope with a lens of compassion, Sarah serves as a guide who exposes the hidden hope that awaits you each day. Sarah is not shaking up your life with renewed expectation and the epic pursuit of hope for you to go back to your norm. She wants you to get out of your comfort zone and into your go zone–the space where the abnormal eventually becomes comfortable because you refused to give up.

  • Are We There Yet

    $24.99

Comedic and Inspirational memoir from the stand-up comic who coined the phrase “Happy Wife, Happy Life”.

Leave it to a comedian to find God through the Bible’s most depressing book.
For years, one of the funniest men in America was crying on the inside. Jeff Allen was a comedian with the lead role in a tragedy.

Born into a tough working-class Chicago family, Allen fell into substance abuse at an early age, and his problems didn’t magically go away when he got married. In fact, with the arrival of two children, they intensified. The sense that his life was meaningless made his family life as dark and biting as his comedy.

But in his darkest moment, an unlikely encounter with the gloomiest book of the Bible set him on the path to salvation. The opening line of Ecclesiastes– “Meaningless, meaningless, all in life is meaningless”–resonated with him.

So he kept reading, and soon he discovered the Source of meaning. Eventually, Allen found himself with a revitalized marriage and a repurposed career.

If you have struggled to find meaning in your life, this book is for you.

With his trademark humor and unflinching honesty, Allen will point you to the only One who can answer the question, “Are we there yet?” You’ll know when you’ve arrived.

  • Everything Is Not Fine

    $18.00

Sometimes the world knocks us flat on our butt.

We feel stretched further than we ever thought physically, emotionally, or spiritually possible. And though we are torn up inside, we feel like we need to keep our chin up and put a good face on things. So we pretend that everything is fine, even though it’s not.

Even in the hardest times, strength from God rises from deep in our soul to keep us going. In this honest, inspirational, and humorous book, Katie Schnack goes deep into the hard stuff of life with no sugar coating or toxic positivity to find sustenance she could not imagine. Faced with a child’s medical challenges in the midst of a global pandemic, having strength to get up in the morning and actually enjoy the day was so unlikely that she knew it had to come from God. Schnack’s plucky authenticity shows us how when life is complicated, self-compassion and humor can bring healing and life.

Everything Is (Not) Fine looks at the hard realities of life, but also gently reminds us of the good. Even in dark times, we can get glimpses of light.

  • She Speaks Fire

    $29.99

Leader of the popular women’s ministry She Speaks Fire, Mariela Rosario shares her story of abandonment and drug use to emphasize her powerful message of overcoming shame so that readers can embrace their purpose and live boldly in the love of Jesus.

In She Speaks Fire, spoken word poet Mariela Rosario vulnerably shares her testimony of being abandoned as a child, which led to intense people pleasing and subsequent drug use. Then, alone in her house in 2015, she experienced a miraculous encounter with God that prompted her to turn away from those damaging patterns and begin attending church. As her relationship with Jesus deepened, she launched a full-time ministry, She Speaks Fire, which helps other women face their past failures and overcome feelings of shame so that they, too, can live fully and unapologetically for God and walk in their God-given purpose.

Unpacking the biblical story of the garden of Eden in Genesis, Rosario reveals the seven areas where shame did not exist in the garden, which are the exact areas where believers are spiritually attacked today:

    *Communion with God
    *Identity in God
    *Community with others
    *Purpose or work
    *Dependence on God
    *Affirmation in or by God
    *Boundaries from God

By identifying the origins of their own shame–and the ways shame blocks them from living an authentic life–readers will then be able to embrace the four steps to overcoming unhealthy shame patterns. When they begin to own their story, they will be able to give God glory and encourage others who are seeking freedom in him. Then they can embrace being bold for Christ and spread his love far and wide.

They didn’t preach the Bible to her-they lived the Bible in front of her. That daily display shaped Jeanie as a child and inspired her to create the same Christlike shadows for those around her.

Through In the Shadow of My Inheritance: An Encouragement for Christlike Living, Jeanie shares examples of her family’s lives as they aspired to trust Christ, obey His word, and leave a godly legacy. With heartfelt conviction, Jeanie explains our responsibility to point others to their inheritance in Christ. You’ll be encouraged to walk in the truth of Scripture and consider the shadows you leave your own children and the next generation.

  • I Take My Coffee Black

    $17.99

Tyler Merritt’s video “Before You Call the Cops” has been viewed more than 60 million times. The viral video’s main point-the more you know someone, the more empathy, understanding, and compassion you have for that person-is the springboard for this book. By sharing his highs and exposing his lows, Tyler welcomes us into his world, allowing us to get to know him and helping bridge the divides that seem to grow wider every day.

In I Take My Coffee Black, Tyler tells hilarious stories from his own life as a black man in America. He talks about his multi-cultural childhood in Las Vegas that didn’t necessarily prepare him for life in the South, his passion for rap music and musical theater, how Jesus barged in uninvited and changed his life forever (it all started with a Triple F.A.T. Goose jacket) and the shocking events that occurred after his video went viral that no one has heard. Throughout his stories, he also seamlessly weaves in lessons about privilege, the legacy of lynching and sharecropping, and why you don’t cross black mamas, teaching readers about the history of encoded racism that still undergirds our society today.

By turns witty, insightful, touching, and laugh-out-loud funny, I Take My Coffee Black not only paints a portrait of one man’s experience of being Black in America, but also expresses the valuable connections we miss when we do not take the time to learn about others’ lives and experiences. This book enlightens, illuminates, and entertains-ultimately building the kind of empathy that might just be the antidote against the racial injustice in our society.

  • Watchmakers Daughter : The True Story Of World War II Heroine Corrie Ten Bo

    $32.99

    INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER

Winner of the Florida Book Awards Gold Medal

New York Times bestselling author and master of nonfiction spy thrillers Larry Loftis writes the first major biography of Corrie ten Boom, a Dutch watchmaker who saved the lives of hundreds of Jews during WWII–at the cost of losing her family and being sent to a concentration camp, only to survive, forgive her captors, and live the rest of her life as a Christian missionary.

The Watchmaker’s Daughter is one of the greatest stories of World War II that readers haven’t heard: the remarkable and inspiring life story of Corrie ten Boom–a groundbreaking, female Dutch watchmaker, whose family unselfishly transformed their house into a hiding place straight out of a spy novel to shelter Jews and refugees from the Nazis during Gestapo raids. Even though the Nazis knew what the ten Booms were up to, they were never able to find those sheltered within the house when they raided it.

Corrie stopped at nothing to face down the evils of her time and overcame unbelievable obstacles and odds. She persevered despite the loss of most of her family and relied on her faith to survive the horrors of a notorious concentration camp. But even more remarkable than her heroism and survival was Corrie’s attitude when she was released. Miraculously, she was able to eschew bitterness and embrace forgiveness as she ministered to people in need around the globe. Corrie’s ability to forgive is just one of the myriad lessons that her life story holds for readers today.

Reminiscent of Schindler’s List and featuring a journey of faith and forgiveness not unlike Unbroken, The Watchmaker’s Daughter is destined to become a classic work of World War II nonfiction.

  • Best Of Friends

    $23.99

Friendship is one of the best things that God has created.

It is unparalleled as a building block of society, a universal theme in great literature, and has a huge impact on our mental health and happiness. But many of us are lonely or feel suffocated by the pressures of life and quantity of relationships we have to maintain, and almost all of us could benefit from better friendships.

Phil Knox, author of Story Bearers and Head of Mission at Evangelical Alliance, celebrates the best of friendships in The Best of Friends. Punctuated with personal story, poetry, and practical application, Knox examines friendship in the setting of the church and explores how Jesus invested his time both with his closest companions and one-off encounters. Readers will recognise the power of friendship in bringing non believers to church, and Knox explores the importance of becoming friends with people who are different from us. Advising that our church circles are always open and invitational, not closed cliques. Finally, Knox considers intergenerational friendships and the most important friend request of all time: one’s relationship with God.

Full of practical advice, The Best of Friends shows us how to choose our friends wisely and maintain lasting and meaningful friendships, especially our relationship with God.

For five-time New York Times bestselling author Eric Metaxas, the answer is Fish Out of Water: A Search for the Meaning of Life–a soaring, lyrical, and often mischievous account of his early years, in which the astute Queens-born son of Greek and German immigrants struggles to make sense of a world in which he never quite seems to fit.

After posting selfies in her Sunday best for fifty-two consecutive weeks during the pandemic, octogenarian Dr. La Verne Ford Wimberly became a viral sensation during Easter 2021, appearing everywhere from the Washington Post to CNN to Fox News.

People from all over the world have said my Sunday selfies and words of encouragement have blessed and inspired them. Who would have thought photos of an eighty-two-year-old church lady in a hat and Bible verses could do such a thing?

On March 29, 2020, when her church switched to online services because of coronavirus, Dr. La Verne Ford Wimberly couldn’t imagine watching the service in her robe. So, she did what she’s always done; she put on a beautiful outfit, matching hat, and accessories and got ready for church. Dr. Wimberly, a self-declared social media junkie, thought it would be fun to snap a selfie and post it on Facebook with a scripture verse and an inspirational message.

I’d let folks know I was ready for worship and encourage them to do the same. This was my way to brighten their spirits–and mine–and stay connected during a time of sudden isolation and despair for many people.Underneath her crown and church finery is a wise, warm, and witty octogenarian who’s still committed to the same values she learned in childhood:

    *faith in God and country,
    *devotion to family,
    *keeping a positive attitude,
    *a life of service,
    *thinking before you act,
*living life to the fullest, and
    *the golden rule.

As a career educator who faithfully and lovingly served students, their families, and her community for decades, encouraging and uplifting others is part of Dr. Wimberly’s DNA. In My Sunday Best, you’ll be cheered by the stories and lessons from a life well-lived and find yourself asking, How can I inspire someone today and encourage myself too?

  • Amazing Grace : The Life Of John Newton And The Surprising Story Behind His

    $28.99

Amazing Grace, a biography that reads like a novel, reveals John Newton’s dramatic, and at times traumatic, story of sin and salvation and ultimate conviction to speak out against slavery. His story speaks to the brokenness within us all and our need for God’s amazing grace.Amazing Grace is a rags-to-riches story that charts the many ways a young man squanders opportunities and experiences misery and poverty, only to unexpectedly rise to a level of respectability and privilege. This dramatic retelling of his life story, which reads like a novel, is a tale of romance, in which young love sparks wild and impulsive actions, only to be followed by years of seemingly hopeless longing, before eventually being crowned by a long and happy marriage. Lastly, it is a story of grace of a youth who rejects God repeatedly, loses himself in a downward spiral of unbelief and immoral behavior, only to be rescued by divine mercy that reaches deeper than he could ever have imagined.

Newton’s story is shocking, and Amazing Grace does not try to airbrush or excuse his faults. There are glaring contradictions in the life of a ship’s Captain who retreats to his cabin to study his Bible and write tender love letters to his wife while hundreds of slaves lie in chains in the hold below. But the profound lessons from his life are applicable to us today, helping us to:

*Struggle well when life doesn’t match up to expectations.
*Be honest and open about our stories that are shameful or just too hard to resolve.
*Understand that God’s work in our lives is ongoing.
*Seek a deeper, more personal faith, awakening to the gospel message and the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

Since John Newton’s death, every generation has found a way of connecting with his story. Today is no different, for in these days of extreme polarization when beliefs about race, church, and politics have all become deeply divisive in society, we need grace more than ever. We need stories that talk about the human condition, stories that are soaked in the relentless love of God and his forgiveness of sins.

  • All My Knotted Up Life

    $22.40

An incredibly thoughtful, disarmingly funny, and intensely vulnerable glimpse into the life and ministry of a woman familiar to many but known by few.

“It’s a peculiar thing, this having lived long enough to take a good look back. We go from knowing each other better than we know ourselves to barely sure if we know each other at all, to precisely sure that we don’t. All my knotted-up life I’ve longed for the sanity and simplicity of knowing who’s good and who’s bad. I’ve wanted to know this about myself as much as anyone. This was not theological. It was strictly relational. God could do what he wanted with eternity. I was just trying to make it here in the meantime. As benevolent as he has been in a myriad of ways, God has remained aloof on this uncomplicated request.” Beth Moore

All My Knotted-Up Life is a beautifully crafted portrait of resilience and survival, a poignant reminder of God’s enduring faithfulness, and proof positive that if we ever truly took the time to hear people’s full stories . . . we’d all walk around slack-jawed.

  • This Here Flesh

    $18.00

In her stunning debut, the creator of Black Liturgies weaves stories from three generations of her family alongside contemplative reflections to discover the necessary rituals that connect us with our belonging, dignity, and liberation.

“From the womb, we must repeat with regularity that to love ourselves is to survive. I believe that is what my father wanted for me and knew I would so desperately need: a tool for survival, the truth of my dignity named like a mercy new each morning.”

So writes Cole Arthur Riley in her unforgettable book of stories and reflections on discovering the sacred in her skin. In these deeply transporting pages, Arthur Riley reflects on the stories of her grandmother and father, and how they revealed to her an embodied, dignity-affirming spirituality, not only in what they believed but in the act of living itself. Writing memorably of her own childhood and coming to self, Arthur Riley boldly explores some of the most urgent questions of life and faith: How can spirituality not silence the body, but instead allow it to come alive? How do we honor, lament, and heal from the stories we inherit? How can we find peace in a world overtaken with dislocation, noise, and unrest? In this indelible work of contemplative storytelling, Arthur Riley invites us to descend into our own stories, examine our capacity to rest, wonder, joy, rage, and repair, and find that our humanity is not an enemy to faith but evidence of it.

At once a compelling spiritual meditation, a powerful intergenerational account, and a tender coming-of-age narrative, This Here Flesh speaks potently to anyone who suspects that our stories might have something to say to us.

  • Its Our Turn Now

    $19.99

How can we ever hope for the world to get better if we keep limiting what God can do?

After reading this book, you will step up with courage to be a part of the hope that the world needs against a destructive culture. God has called you to be a witness of light in the middle of the darkness, and you will obey Him with boldness and integrity.

Everyone living on the planet today has a front-row seat to the failure of communism, socialism, and immorality. People are sick to death of the fabrications, lies, control, and tyranny. Mario Murillo draws on his recent experiences in California, where his ministry is experiencing souls being saved at a rate that surpasses even what was seen during the Jesus movement of the 1960s and ’70s. It’s accelerating, and Murillo believes it’s a worldwide trend that has us poised for an unprecedented opportunity as the body of Christ. We must seize this moment!

In It’s Our Turn Now, Murillo explains why now is the time for Christians to do the following:

*Explain why everything man has taught us is bankrupting our morals and our souls
*Display the supernatural with integrity and clarity that we’ve not seen before
*Answer directly the questions that are truly on the hearts and minds of the human race

We are no longer the remnant. There are millions of us, and it’s time to stop believing the false reports and listen to what people around us are feeling. We have the answers a hungry world is dying for. Only the gospel of Jesus Christ can deliver us, and only the church can change the world through its power. It’s our turn to step up and stop limiting God.

In the wake of the culture wars of the 1980s and 1990s, many young evangelical Christians found themselves untethered, disillusioned, and–ultimately–orphaned as they grappled with the legalistic, politically co-opted churches of their youth and embarked on a search for a more loving, more biblical expression of the faith and discipleship taught by Jesus.

Sara Billups was one of those orphans. She knows the grief of loving Jesus while watching political pundits twist her faith to support their power struggles and exclusionary policies. She knows the feeling of being alone, misunderstood, and maligned. In this honest yet hopeful book, she invites fellow orphaned believers to process their pasts so they can move boldly forward into a future where they know without a doubt that they are beloved by Christ and belong to the family of God. With love and compassion, she binds up the wounds of the broken and points them toward a new expression of faith that is motivated to make the world a better place.

  • Man Born To Be King

    $45.00

From December 1941 until October 1942, the BBC broadcast a series of radio dramas written by Dorothy L. Sayers.

Against the backdrop of World War II, the plays presented twelve episodes in the life and ministry of Jesus, from the visit of the magi to his death and resurrection, collectively affirming the kingship of Christ.

Noted for their use of colloquial English as part of Sayers’s effort to bring the Gospels to life in a new way for listeners, the plays were both controversial and incredibly successful, bolstering the morale of the country during the war. They were subsequently published in 1943, and they stand among Sayers’s most beloved works to this day.

In this new critical and annotated edition, scholar Kathryn Wehr brings fresh insights to the plays, their background, Sayers’s creative process, and the ongoing significance of the life of Christ today. Listen again, or for the first time, to the story of the man who was born to be-and still is-king.

    Gather it from memory.
    Let it touch the earth.

In Touch the Earth, Drew Jackson continues the project he began in God Speaks Through Wombs, reflecting on the Gospel of Luke through poetry. Touch the Earth picks up in chapter nine and continues through the end of Luke’s Gospel. Part protest poetry, part biblical commentary, Jackson presents the gospel story in all its liberative power. Here the gospel is the fresh words / that speak of / things impossible.

From the feeding of the multitude (The best hosts always provide / take home containers”) to the resurrection of Jesus (the belly of mother Earth / is, indeed, a womb . . . the humus of life is where we become fully human), this collection helps us hear the hum of deliverance–against all hope–that’s been in the gospel all along.

When an author of fiction employs the imagination and sets characters in a new location, they are in a sense creating a world. Might such fictional worlds give us a deeper appreciation for our own?

Many readers have found themselves, like the Pevensie children, transported by C. S. Lewis into Narnia, and they have traveled from Lantern Waste to Cair Paravel and the edge of the sea. Thanks to J. R. R. Tolkien, readers have also journeyed with Bilbo, Frodo, and their companions across Middle-earth from the Shire to the Lonely Mountain, the forest of Mirkwood, the mines of Moria, and the very fires of Mount Doom. But as often as we enter these fictional worlds as readers, we eventually return to our world refreshed with sharpened insight.

In The Wonders of Creation, biologist Kristen Page explores the beloved fictional landscapes of Narnia and Middle-earth in order to discover what we might learn about real-life landscapes and how to become better stewards of God’s good creation.

The Hansen Lectureship Series offers accessible and insightful reflections by Wheaton College faculty members on the transformative work of the Wade Center authors.

  • Extravagant : Discovering A Life Of Dangerous Generosity

    $17.99

From the senior pastor of New Life Church, a revolutionary book that redefines the notion of extravagance by using the parable of the Good Samaritan to demonstrate how to live a truly compassionate and selfless life of giving freely without expecting anything in return.

We all know people in our lives who have “yes” faces. They are calm but energetic, present but still purposeful with their time. They are curious. They ask questions. They’re genuine in their desire to know about you-how you’re doing, what you’re up to, how you feel. Even with full lives of their own, they somehow still have the energy to inquire about others. These are extravagant people.

In Extravagant, Pastor Brady Boyd shows us that by constantly offering up our time, talents, and hearts we can live life more like these exceptional people. Drawing on the parable of the Good Samaritan, he encourages us to stop living a life driven by selfish desire and start building lasting relationships that will be spiritually fulfilling.

Discover how to begin this transformation by ceasing to be a passerby and become one who pauses in the course of daily life. By embracing the spirit of generosity, Pastor Boyd shows us that the path to a happier life is by living closer to God’s vision and building a community that will be there in times of need. Timely, thought-provoking, and inspiring, Boyd’s uplifting message of reclaiming your connections to others and being a good neighbor is just the remedy we need in today’s fractured culture and troubled times.

After making destructive choices that alienate your family and friends?

Can guilt, shame, and regret ever be healed?

Many people feel that once they’ve made mistakes or bad decisions, or once they’ve been damaged by others, they can never set their life on a positive course again. If you feel this way, the real answer is that you can.

Author Tracy Strawberry, wife of baseball great Darryl Strawberry, says it starts with who you are. Both she and her husband have been in that hopeless place and successfully moved past it. Tracy knows what it takes to get free and to stay free in multiple areas of life, and for twenty years, she has helped numerous people do the same. She knows how hard it is to face the daily challenges of moving forward from the past and the consequences it brings. She understands that it takes step-by-step direction, faith, and encouragement to achieve it, and you will find all of that in abundance in these pages.

This book presents proven, practical, systematic steps for attaining healing from past pain, addictions, and dysfunctional patterns of living. Tracy explains that God does not just evacuate us out of our struggles. It requires a process of change where we learn to make positive and creative new choices. You can live a victorious life by relying on the transformative power of God and actively engaging in the process of change, one choice at a time.

Your struggles are not who you are-they are what you are overcoming. No matter where you are in life, you have permission to hope and dream again. To dare to image yourself in a better place with a good future. To have The Courage to Heal.

  • Saving Aziz : How The Mission To Help One Became A Calling To Rescue Thousa

    $28.99

Former Force Recon Marine Chad Robichaux details the incredible rescue missions that evacuated not only his long-time comrade and interpreter, Aziz, but also more than 17,000 Afghans and allies who were left in the grip of the Taliban’s violent regime as the United States military withdrew from Afghanistan.

During his eight deployments to Afghanistan, Force Recon Marine Chad Robichaux and his comrade and Afghan interpreter, Aziz, carried out over a hundred dangerous missions to eliminate High Value Targets (HVTs) in the Taliban’s terrorist regime. During those years, Chad was welcomed into Aziz’s growing family, and the two men developed a brotherly bond as they stood against the Taliban’s violent oppression.

In April 2021, fourteen years after Robichaux’s final deployment, the Biden administration announced that the United States military would end its twenty-year occupation in Afghanistan and would pull its military forces from the country by the twentieth anniversary of 9/11. Immediately, Robichaux knew he had to save Aziz and his family. As he began to organize efforts, he realized a greater need to help more of the Afghan people he had come to know and respect. As the deadline for withdrawal drew near, he formed a coalition of nonprofits called Save Our Allies and created Task Force 6:8, which consisted of twelve former special operations veterans, to evacuate American citizens, green card holders, and special immigration visa (SIV) applicants out of the volatile country. They successfully extracted 12,000 evacuees in a period of ten days and took them to the United Arab Emirates. Then, by partnering with several other nonprofits, they continued to evacuate an average of fifty people per day over the next few weeks so that more than 17,000 were rescued, the largest number for any rescue group and second only to the United States military.

Following those rescue efforts, Robichaux carried out a two-man reconnaissance mission over the span of ten days that provided flight paths across the border into Tajikistan. Operating at night and tracked by the Russian KGB, they successfully evaded capture by the Taliban and Chinese special forces, and were the first on the ground providing real-time intelligence for outside intelligence agencies, which made way for additional evacuations.

Saving Aziz gives the behind-the-scenes view of the evacuation efforts that saved thousands from the Taliban during a historic humanitarian crisis. In this gripping

  • Gift Grows In The Ghetto

    $22.00

In his classic essay Of Our Spiritual Strivings, W. E. B. Du Bois asks, how does it feel to be a problem? This question has become a means of diagnosing the lived experience of Black men, particularly in America’s most neglected and feared environment: the ghetto. What is often overlooked, however, is the vital role that spirituality has in remedying the problem. A Gift Grows in the Ghetto examines how not being in relationship with one’s gift can lead to feelings of despair, entrapment, and abandonment, all of which contribute to Black men feeling as though they are nothing more than a problem. By utilizing the biblical story of Ishmael’s miraculous survival, growth, and giftedness in the wilderness, the book encourages Black men to embrace a life of faith that is dependent on the God who always sees, nurtures, and is in relationship with us and our gifts in the wilderness and the ghetto.

  • Holy Land : Poems

    $21.00

“Remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” -Exodus 3:5″The Holy Land is everywhere.” -Black Elk

The two epigraphs that preface Angela Alaimo O’Donnell’s Holy Land introduce the reader to the central theme that permeates her poems: that holy places deserve to be regarded with reverence and that all places are holy places. In her afterward, the poet traces these foundational concepts to her Catholic childhood wherein religious instruction consisted largely of memorizing the Baltimore Catechism. “One of questions the Catechism poses is ‘Where is God?’ The answer is ‘God is everywhere.’ We believed this to be true. God was in church, but God was also in our house (a crucifix in every room), in the backyard, in our Buick (rosary beads swinging from the rearview mirror), at our birthday parties in the basement, and in our own bodies. And though those places may not sound very holy, they were. Because God was there. Is there.”

In addition to affirming this foundational belief, these poems extend the terrain, moving beyond the geographical and the physical to the temporal, the carnal, the intellectual, and the spiritual realms. They assert that our days are blessed, our bodies are blessed, our minds and souls are all blessed and sacred ground. The poet explores a broad spectrum of physical locations, beginning with poems set in the Holy Land and moving on to places closer to home, ranging from the west of Ireland to rural Minnesota, from New York City to the Texas border. She also probes the temporal spaces we occupy, experiences of death and birth, love and loss, desire and desolation that mark our human passage.

The English word holy is related to the Germanic word heilig, a word that means blessed and also carries within it the idea of wholeness. Holy Land attempts to honor both the holiness and the wholeness of our world-from Gotham to Golgotha, the Bronx River to the Sea of Galilee-and to honor the holiness and wholeness of our blessed and broken humanity.

  • Language Of The Birds

    $21.00

According to legend, the language of the birds was a mystical language God used to talk with Adam and Eve when he walked with them in the garden of Eden. Amy Nemecek listens for this divine dialect as she communes with God on her walks along country roads and creek banks, through forests and hayfields. She observes the world around her with expectation, knowing that God still speaks to us as he is at work making all things new. If we have ears to hear, we can catch snippets of his grace in the watercolor silhouette of a bird, the thrum of a tractor engine, the tang of a grapefruit, the curvature of an ampersand. Amy doesn’t want to miss any of it, so she remains attentive to the smooth grit of beach sand, the tendrils of a nebula, and the steady gaze of a fossil. She delights in the details, and you will too.

In this collection of lyric and narrative poems, you are invited to walk with her as she reflects on larger themes of beauty, loss, motherhood, family, and vocation. She contemplates the sacredness of ordinary moments that we usually don’t recognize except in hindsight. Twining through every line is an aching hopefulness that ties together her love of words, her devotion to scripture, and her deep gratitude for each of life’s joys and griefs.

This is the story of how wine brought me back from the dead.

Thus begins Adam McHugh’s transition through the ending of one career–as a hospice chaplain and grief counselor–into the discovery of a new life in wine among the grapevines of the Santa Ynez Valley of California.

This is the corkscrewing tale of how I got to Santa Ynez, eventually, and the questions that came up along the way, he continues. You and I are going to take a long wine tour together on our way there, and we will make plenty of stops for a glass and some local wine history. As you will see, I reached into the old, old story of wine in order to find my new story, which begins, as so many wine love stories do, in the French countryside. Most stories about religion and drink are stories of recovery. I’m not sure if mine isn’t a story about recovery too.

Adam’s story is one of being forced to reevaluate and remake his life when things fell apart. But more than that, it’s a story about finding healing through the good gifts of wine, friends, and the beauty of wine country. Pour a glass and join the adventure from the south of France to Champagne to the California Central Coast.

  • Seasons Of Sorrow

    $21.60

On November 3, 2020, Tim and Aileen Challies received the shocking news that their son Nick had died. A 20-year-old student at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, he had been participating in a school activity with his fiancee, sister, and friends, when he fell unconscious and collapsed to the ground. Neither students, nor a passing doctor, nor paramedics were able to revive him. His parents received the news at their home in Toronto and immediately departed for Louisville to be together as a family. While on the plane, Tim, an author and blogger, began to process his loss through writing.

Nick’s death resonated through the evangelical world. His memorial service in the United States and funeral in Canada were watched by thousands. Tim’s blog posts were read by hundreds of thousands as he gave voice to his sorrow and anguish, but also to his faith and hope. Seasons of Sorrow includes a selection of those early reflections, but also many pieces Tim has written since and not shared with the public. Separated into four seasons, from Fall to Summer, and written mostly in the present tense, Seasons of Sorrow shares real-time reflections from the first year of his grief.

Seasons of Sorrow begins in the Challies living room with the phone call every parent dreads–We did everything we could. It ends exactly one year later as Tim ponders the final first. In a year of many firsts–a first Thanksgiving with an empty chair, a first Christmas with an empty stocking, a first birthday with no gifts, the anniversary of Nick’s death is the final first and, thus, a fitting conclusion. Along the way, Tim shares the poignancy of his early grief, the doubts and fears that plagued him, the faith that sustained him, and the hope that has given him joy even through such sorrow.

  • Healing The System

    $17.99

As a healthcare provider, do you feel frustrated and fatigued with an impersonal, administrative-heavy system where you don’t feel your opinion matters? Do you feel powerless to effect change? You’re not alone! Provider burnout is rampant due to bureaucratic overload, long work hours, and the lack of community, respect, and autonomy at work. But these issues can be addressed without significant expense or a major system overhaul. Dr. John McB. Hodgson’s approach to healthcare change re-empowers healthcare providers to do what they love to do-care for patients, solve problems, and influence the delivery system.

In Healing the System, Dr. Hodgson draws on his experience as a seasoned cardiologist to suggest easy-to-implement changes that healthcare providers and administrators can make to combat the increasingly dysfunctional environment typical of current practice. These simple changes can bring a sense of fulfillment, joy, and satisfaction back to the practice of medicine, and the entire system will be energized. Hodgson’s solutions include:

    *getting back to missional purpose, rather than focusing solely on the numbers;
    *empowering teams and community;
    *encouraging equity in the place where providers practice;
*involving providers in administrative functions and decision making; and
*honoring one another, no matter the position or the department.

The message in this book encourages physicians and other healthcare delivery professionals to create an environment and culture in which everyone can thrive.

When Jon Acuff’s book Soundtracks, came out, one reaction surprised him. Parents across the country all said the same thing: “Do you have a version for teenagers? If I knew how to change my mindset when I was that age, my entire life would have been different.” Why did they say that? Because truth grows like compound interest. Saving money when you’re young has a bigger impact than it does when you save in your 40s. A single new soundtrack–Acuff’s phrase for a repetitive thought–believed when you’re 14 or 18 can change your whole life in the same way. In response, Acuff tagged his two daughters to help him create an honest, actionable guide to mindset for teenagers.

Your thoughts can work for you or against you, but the good news is you get a choice. The even better news is when you’re young, your entire world is made of new. You’re a movie that’s barely started, a notebook with blank pages to fill, a song that hasn’t hit the chorus. You have your whole life ahead of you. When you learn to create new thoughts, those thoughts lead to actions, and those actions lead to new results. Are you ready to tap into the superpower of mindset? Just hit play.

  • To Love And Be Loved

    $27.00

From a trusted advisor and devoted friend of Mother Teresa comes an extraordinary firsthand account of the miraculous woman behind the saint.

Mother Teresa was one of the most admired women of the 20th century, and her memory continues to inspire charitable work around the world. She believed the greatest need of a human being is to love and be loved. In 1948, she founded the Missionaries of Charity to work directly with the very poorest of Calcutta. From the efforts of one woman entering the slums of Entally, the Missionaries of Charity grew into an organization operating soup kitchens, health clinics, hospices, and shelters in 139 countries, at no cost to any government or to those served. In 2016, she became Saint Teresa of Calcutta.

Author Jim Towey had been a high-flying Congressional staffer and lawyer in the 1980s until a brief meeting with Mother Teresa illuminated the emptiness of his life. He began volunteering at one of her soup kitchens and using his legal skills and political connections to help the Missionaries of Charity. When Mother Teresa suggested he take shifts at her AIDS hospice, Towey realized he was all in. Soon, he gave up his job and possessions and became a full-time volunteer for Mother Teresa. He traveled with her frequently, arranged her meetings with politicians, and handled many of her legal affairs.

To Love and Be Loved is a firsthand account of Mother Teresa’s last years, and the first book ever to detail her dealings with worldly matters. We see her gracefully navigate the opportunities and challenges of leadership, the perils of celebrity, and the humiliations and triumphs of aging. We also catch her indulging in chocolate ice cream, making jokes about mini-skirts, and telling the President of the United States he’s wrong. Above all, we see her extraordinary devotion to God and to the very poorest of His children. Mother Teresa taught Towey to be more prayerful, less selfish, more humble, less worldly, more in love with God, and less in love with himself. Her lessons are here for all to share.

We’re never going to be able to prevent people from saying or doing things that hurt our feelings. We will always have opportunities to get offended. But if we do things God’s way, we can choose to save ourselves a lot of misery and hardship. This doesn’t mean we allow people to abuse us. No, there is a time for confronting people and dealing with situations. However, the Bible commands us to love our enemies and forgive those who have wronged us, even when it feels impossible.

In this companion study guide to Loving People Who Are Hard to Love, Joyce Meyer teaches us that everything the Lord asks us to do in the Bible is ultimately for our good. In fact, when we choose to love our enemies and forgive those who have hurt us, we are actually helping ourselves more than anyone else. Because whatever the Lord commands us to do, He is going to give us the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish it-and that includes loving and being good to difficult people! God’s love flowing through us is strong enough to melt even the hardest hearts, so use kindness as a weapon to overcome the meanness in people.
