When Helping Hurts
With 250,000 copies sold, When Helping Hurts is a paradigm-forming contemporary classic on the subject of poverty alleviation and ministry to those in need. Emphasizing the poverty of both heart and society, this book exposes the need that every person has and how it can be filled. The reader is brought to understand that poverty is much more than simply a lack of financial or material resources and that it takes much more than donations and handouts to solve the problem of poverty. While this book exposes past and current development efforts that churches have engaged in which unintentionally undermine the people they’re trying to help, its central point is to provide proven strategies that challenge Christians to help the poor empower themselves. Focusing on both North American and Majority World contexts, When Helping Hurts catalyzes the idea that sustainable change for people living in poverty comes not from the outside-in, but from the inside-out.

Life, Death and Afterlife Throughout the Bible
Alfonso Perez Ranchal in his book LIFE, DEATH AND AFTERLIFE THROUGHOUT THE BIBLE, frames these terms in the concept of progressive revelation.
He frames these terms in the concept of progressive revelation, indicating that God was making known His will and purposes as time progressed. In this progression, the Israelite people went through moments of great historical importance marked by divine actions and messages. At times, all this meant new ways of understanding God; at others, the protagonists or recipients had to make a whole new reflection on history and their own lives in the face of what they now knew of the Creator.
Unfortunately, this progressive revelation is often left aside when it comes to biblical studies or in one’s own d

Called To Reconciliation
$21.99Nationally recognized speaker and church leader Jonathan Augustine demonstrates that the church is called and equipped to model reconciliation, justice, diversity, and inclusion.
This book develops three uses of the term “reconciliation”: salvific, social, and civil. Augustine examines the intersection of the salvific and social forms of reconciliation through an engagement with Paul’s letters and uses the black church as an exemplar to connect the concept of salvation to social and political movements that seek justice for those marginalized by racism, class structures, and unjust legal systems. He then traces the reaction to racial progress in the form of white backlash as he explores the fate of civil reconciliation from the civil rights era to the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
This book argues that the church’s work in reconciliation can serve as a model for society at large and that secular diversity and inclusion practices can benefit the church. It offers a prophetic call to pastors, church leaders, and students to recover reconciliation as the heart of the church’s message to a divided world. Foreword by William H. Willimon and afterword by Michael B. Curry.

Good News Of Our Limits
$18.99Become More Effective by Embracing Your Inability
Many of us are tired, stressed, and overworked. We think that following God will bring peace, but instead find ourselves anxious. We expect a life of joy, but end up feeling stressed, living under the heavy load of new expectations. It’s a spiritual and emotional rollercoaster.
We search for solutions using optimization techniques, attempting to fit more and more into our already full days. We try to craft efficiently maximized lives, but these methods always fail, not because they are ill-intentioned, but because they do not go far enough. They fail to understand how God made us–as people with inherent limitations–and they fail to accept that as good.
In The Good News of Our Limits, professor and longtime ministry leader Sean McGever reveals the wonderful news that we cannot do, be, or know all of the things that others expect of us–and that we often expect from ourselves. Nor should we. As it turns out, these expectations are not God’s expectations. The freeing truth is that God created us with limitations, and he did it for a reason. God is the only all-powerful, all-present, and all-knowing person, and we are not. We can only know and do some things, and we can only be in one place at a time. And that is enough. Accepting this truth frees us to find greater peace and joy, and somewhat surprisingly, greater effectiveness in life.
The Good News of Our Limits helps readers answer questions like:
*What are our God-given human limits?
*How do I find peace when I can’t control the circumstances, tragedies, and difficulties that surround my life?
*How do I choose what is best when my time, focus, and abilities are limited?
*How many people can I realistically know personally?
*What can I do to deepen key relationships when I feel relationally maxed-out?
*How do I navigate all the information that comes my way each day?Through personal stories and fascinating cultural insights, The Good News of Our Limits calls readers to embrace the blessedness of their limitations and adopt a few key practices to better balance their lives. Biblical and practical, it points to a better way forward for us all.

Fear : The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
$18.99You overcome the fear of people when the fear of God becomes your priority.
This book will teach you to recognize the fear of man and how the enemy uses it to trap you and keep you from the purposes of God for your life. It will empower you to break free from this trap and live boldly, unafraid to trust God and His promises.
When you care more about what people think than what God thinks, you will miss out on the opportunities God has for you. The Bible says, “The fear of man lays a snare” (Prov. 29:25). This type of fear is dangerous. It can get you into all kinds of trouble, and the enemy skillfully uses this weapon to keep you from fulfilling God’s purpose for your life. It can silence you when you should speak or paralyze you when you should take action. It affects far more Christians than you might think, but it doesn’t have to rule your life anymore. So how can you be freed from this trap?
The fear of God leads to wisdom and worship, and there are two ways it comes to you:
(1) it must be taught; and (2) the presence of God can bring fear as it did on the day of Pentecost and during the Great Awakening. You also learn it as you step out in courage and choose to trust what God says in spite of what people say. As you do this, the fear of man loses its power over you.Add to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase

Fight Like Jesus
$29.99Throughout Holy Week, two competing approaches to peacemaking collide. What if we’ve embraced the wrong one?
?
At the start of Holy Week, tears streamed down Jesus’ face as he cried out, “If only you knew the things that make for peace.” From that moment, until a week later when he triumphantly declared, “Peace be with you,” Jesus spent each day confronting injustice, calling out oppressors and contending for peace. But what if–despite all our familiarity with the events of Holy Week–we still don’t know how Jesus makes peace? And what if–despite clinging to the cross of Christ for our salvation–we’ve actually embraced a different approach to peacemaking? One that justifies killing enemies. One whose methods include nailing criminals to crosses.
We desperately need to recover the radical vision of peacemaking that Jesus embodied throughout Holy Week. And we urgently need to be trained in his way of making peace. So, come. Let’s journey together day-by-day through Jesus’ final week and discover anew why he is called the Prince of Peace.

Follow Me : Make DISCIPLES The Way JESUS Did
$18.99God has placed the next generation into our hands. Who will raise them up if the church does not?
This book will teach you how to effectively mentor the next generation of Christians. You will learn how to disciple others in their faith while getting outside of your comfort zone to increase your relationship with God.
If we want to change the world with the gospel, we must stop focusing on crowds and events and reclaim Jesus’ method of relational discipleship. Jesus’ final mandate to His followers was “Go and make disciples”–yet today most of the church is oblivious to what discipleship is, and few Christians are actually investing their lives in helping other believers grow spiritually. A vast paradigm shift is needed in the church today in order to reach the next generation and advance the gospel in the twenty-first century.
In Follow Me, J. Lee Grady uses many New Testament examples, as well as his own experience in mentoring dozens of young leaders and a clear strategy for discipling others that can be used by individuals and churches. Grady makes a compelling case that Christianity was never intended to be a spectator sport where huge crowds sit and listen to one preacher on a Sunday. Jesus intended all believers to engage in ministry–and this includes the work of discipling other believers.
So many Christians today live in a box of limitation. We must understand that the Christian life is an adventure of the Holy Spirit working through them. This book will help believers get out of that box and begin the exciting adventure of spiritual multiplication.

Chestertons Tavern : A Great Writer’s Thoughts On Life And Things Of Wisdom
$19.93At a time when intellectuals and politicians were all telling the world that science had advanced us beyond Christianity and we needed to face the cold hard truth, an enormously fat man in a cape with a walking stick laughed at them and refuted them with brilliant prose and witty one-liners.
If we sat down with Chesterton in a tavern today, what would he say about the insanity in our world? Very much the same things he said one hundred years ago.
Chesterton’s Tavern imagines what Chesterton would talk about if he were at ease in an English pub (which in fact is something he did enjoy doing). Kevin Belmonte shows that Chesterton’s insights are as true today as they were then. Chesterton was equally comfortable talking about fiction, myths, fairy tales, history, science, politics, and theology, because he saw them all as part of the strange world God had given us.
In Christ, everything holds together, and so we should not be surprised at the strangeness of the world or the strangeness of the Christian faith. So sit back and let Chesterton regale you with his wisdom. You will come away wiser.

Excused Absence : Should Christian Kids Leave Public Schools
$21.23Get them out-now.
Many Christian parents oppose our godless American culture, but how many of us are willing to put our money where our mouth is?
In this short but spicy book, Douglas Wilson calls for Christian parents to remove their kids from public schools. Beginning with the commands in Scripture for parents to raise up their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, he shows that parents must not send their children to be catechized by unbelieving teachers and peers.
Although he has many hard words for public schools, Doug pulls no punches on parents who assume that a Christian curriculum alone will fix all their problems. Parents need to train their kids’ minds, bodies, and hearts so that they are prepared for the real world. This is a high and difficult calling, but we can look to God’s promises to help us as we train our children.

On Reading Well
$27.05Reading great literature well has the power to cultivate virtue. Great literature increases knowledge of and desire for the good life by showing readers what virtue looks like and where vice leads. It is not just what one reads but how one reads that cultivates virtue. Reading good literature well requires one to practice numerous virtues, such as patience, diligence, and prudence. And learning to judge wisely a character in a book, in turn, forms the reader’s own character.
Acclaimed author Karen Swallow Prior takes readers on a guided tour through works of great literature both ancient and modern, exploring twelve virtues that philosophers and theologians throughout history have identified as most essential for good character and the good life. In reintroducing ancient virtues that are as relevant and essential today as ever, Prior draws on the best classical and Christian thinkers, including Aristotle, Aquinas, and Augustine. Covering authors from Henry Fielding to Cormac McCarthy, Jane Austen to George Saunders, and Flannery O’Connor to F. Scott Fitzgerald, Prior explores some of the most compelling universal themes found in the pages of classic books, helping readers learn to love life, literature, and God through their encounter with great writing. In examining works by these authors and more, Prior shows why virtues such as prudence, temperance, humility, and patience are still necessary for human flourishing and civil society. The book includes end-of-chapter reflection questions geared toward book club discussions, features original artwork throughout, and includes a foreword from Leland Ryken.

Meet Me In The Margins
$17.99When You’ve Got Mail meets The Proposal, Melissa Ferguson’s latest romantic comedy is one for the books.
Savannah Cade’s dreams are coming true. The Claire Donovan, editor-in-chief of the most successful romance imprint in the country, has requested to see the manuscript Savannah’s been secretly writing while working as editor herself–except at her publishing house, the philosophy is only highbrow works are worth printing and commercial fiction, particularly romance, should be reserved for the lowest level of Dante’s inferno. But when Savannah drops her manuscript during a staff meeting and nearly exposes herself to the whole company–including William Pennington, new publisher and son of the romance-despising CEO herself–she races to hide her manuscript in the secret turret room of the old Victorian office.
When she returns, she’s dismayed to discover that someone has not only been in her hidden nook but has written notes in the margins–quite critical ones. But when Claire’s own reaction turns out to be nearly identical to the scribbled remarks, and worse, Claire announces that Savannah has six weeks to resubmit before she retires, Savannah finds herself forced to seek the help of the shadowy editor after all.
As their notes back and forth start to fill up the pages, however, Savannah finds him not just becoming pivotal to her work but her life. There’s no doubt about it. She’s falling for her mystery editor. If she only knew who he was.

Religious Experience And The Knowledge Of God
$29.99For many Christians, personal experiences of God provide an important ground or justification for accepting the truth of the gospel. But we are sometimes mistaken about our experiences, and followers of other religions also provide impressive testimonies to support their religious beliefs. This book explores from a philosophical and theological perspective the viability of divine encounters as support for belief in God, arguing that some religious experiences can be accepted as genuine experiences of God and can provide evidence for Christian beliefs.

End Of The Age Study Guide (Student/Study Guide)
$18.99There seems to be a particular urgency in the prophetic doom-saying of our modern world . . . a greater sense of somberness. Perhaps this is because end-of-the-world scenarios have gone from Hollywood fodder to real life. Rather than feeling farfetched, the end of the world now seems almost a given for most people. A matter of when rather than if.
In The End of the Age, New York Times bestselling author and pastor John Hagee uses Scripture as a guide to count down the prophetic events that must occur before that moment when every person must face God on Judgment Day. The pages of God’s Word offer a window into the end of history–what Scripture calls the end of the age (Matthew 13:49).
The goal of this study is to look through that window together–not necessarily to make specific predictions about people and places, but to gain wisdom and perspective from the Author of history. In the process, we will see what God has in store for the future so that we can remain ready, speak boldly, and live faithfully to the end.

What Are Christians For
$22.99What should a Christian politics look like in our day?
Politics ought to be defined by fidelity to the common good of all the members of society. But our modern Western politics are defined by a determination to bend the natural world and human life to its own political and economic ends. This wholesale rejection of the natural order is behind the dominant revolutions in our history, and defines our experience in Western society today–our racialized hierarchy, modern industry, and the sexual revolution. In What Are Christians For?, Jake Meador lays out a proposal for a Christian politics rooted in the givenness and goodness of the created world. He is uninterested in the cultural wars that have so often characterized American Christianity. Instead, he casts a vision for an ordered society that rejects the late modern revolution at every turn, and is rooted instead in the natural law tradition and in the great Protestant confessions. Here is a politics that is anti-racist, anti-capitalist, and profoundly pro-life. A truly Christian political witness, Meador argues, must attend closely to the natural world and renounce the metallic fantasies that have poisoned common life in America life for too long.

Napoleon Hills Positive Influence
$19.98Napoleon Hill spent twenty years of his life interviewing the most successful men in America in order to write the first book on the science of personal achievement. In the course of his studies, he developed seventeen success principles. These teachings explain each of them, In order, they are Definiteness of Purpose, the Master Mind Alliance, Going the Extra Mile, Applied Faith, Self-Discipline and Cosmic Habit Force. Hill often referred to these as the most important of the success principles.
Hill and his last wife, Annie Lou, established the Napoleon Hill Foundation 1962, and it continues today to publish his books, videos, audios and lectures. These six lectures were transcribed but never before published and only recently found by the Foundation. The Trustees of the Foundation have chosen the title “Napoleon Hill’s Positive Influence” for this book because these lectures deal with many of the influences which help people to become successful, and which drove Hill to achieve his own successes.
One of Hill’s greatest influences was business tycoon Andrew Carnegie, who commissioned him in 1908 to undertake his twenty-year investigation. During his investigation, he discovered that important positive influences on successful people included having self-discipline, learning from adversity, working in harmony with others, selecting “pace makers”, surrounding oneself with positive books and mottos, being guided by Faith and what Hill called “Infinite Intelligence”, social and physical heredity, and the law of Cosmic Habit force, by which one’s habits become ingrained in one’s personality and character. All of these positive influences are covered in these lectures.
In addition to Andrew Carnegie, a number of individuals were positive influences in Hill’s life, and they too are discussed in the lectures. Those who he knew personally, and who are referenced in the lectures, include Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Franklin Roosevelt, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Elmer Gates, Alexander Graham Bell and Edwin Barnes. On a more personal level, he speaks fondly of his step-mother and his wives who helped him with his endeavors. We are fortunate to be able to present an Introduction to the book by Napoleon’s grandson, J.B. Hill, and a Preface by Napoleon Hill Foundation Executive Director Don M. Green, both of which explain the important roles played by these women in bringing positive influences to bear on his life and work.

3:16 Study Guide Plus Streaming Video Updated Edition (Student/Study Guide)
$19.99This study guide includes:
*Individual access to 5 streaming video sessions
*Discussion and reflection questions with video notes
*Personal study for between sessions
*Leader’s GuideIn this updated classic, bestselling author and pastor Max Lucado unpacks the meaning behind John 3:16, one of the best-known and most-beloved passages in the Bible. This simple verse came out of an unusual conversation that Jesus had under the cover of night with a Pharisee named Nicodemus. From the start, Nicodemus made it clear he inhabited a land of good efforts, sincere gestures, and hard work. Give God your best, his philosophy said, and God does the rest. Jesus’ response? Your best won’t do. Your works don’t work. Unless you are born again, you can’t even see what God is doing.
Born again. The word born, by definition, implies a passive act. The enwombed child contributes nothing to the delivery. Postpartum celebrations applaud the work of the mother who does the delivery. And the Greek term that Jesus used for again implies that the one who did the work the first time will repeat it. In other words, the original Creator will re-create his creation! Born: God exerts the effort. Again: God restores the beauty. We don’t try again. We need, not the muscle of self, but a miracle of God.
The thought bewildered Nicodemus. “How can this be?” he asked. Jesus answered by leading him to the Hope diamond of the Bible: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” A twenty-six-word parade of hope: beginning with God, ending with life, and urging us to do the same. A verse brief enough to write on a napkin or memorize in a moment . . . yet solid enough to weather 2,000 years of storms and questions. As this study will reveal, the heart of the human problem is the heart of the human. And God’s treatment for the human heart is prescribed in John 3:16: “He loves. He gave. We believe. We live.”
The five sessions include:
1. The Most Famous Conversation in the Bible
2. Hope for the Hard Heart
3. The Heart He Offers

Librarian Of Saint Malo
$17.99Libraries are being ransacked. France is torn apart by war. A French librarian is determined to resist. Told through smuggled letters to an author, an ordinary librarian describes the brutal Nazi occupation of her small coastal village and the extraordinary measures she takes to fight back.
Saint-Malo, France: August 1939. Jocelyn and Antoine are childhood sweethearts, but just after they marry, Antoine is drafted to fight against Germany. As World War II rages, Jocelyn uses her position as a librarian in her town of Saint-Malo to comfort and encourage her community with books. Jocelyn begins to write secret letters smuggled to a famous Parisian author, telling her story in the hope that it will someday reach the outside world.
France falls and the Nazis occupy Jocelyn’s town, turning it into a fortress. The townspeople try passive resistance, but the German commander ruthlessly begins to destroy part of the city’s libraries. Books deemed unsuitable by the Nazis are burnt or stolen, and priceless knowledge is lost.
Risking arrest and even her life, Jocelyn manages to hide some of the books while desperately waiting to receive news from her husband Antoine, now a prisoner in a German camp.
Jocelyn’s mission unfolds in her letters: to protect the people of Saint-Malo and the books they hold so dear. Mario Escobar brings to life the occupied city in sweeping and romantic prose, re-creating the history of those who sacrificed all to care for the people they loved.

Voices Long Silenced
$40.00Hundreds of women studied and interpreted the Bible between the years 100-2000 CE, but their stories have remained largely untold. In this book, Schroeder and Taylor introduce readers to the notable contributions of female commentators through the centuries. They unearth fascinating accounts of Jewish and Christian women from diverse communities-rabbinic experts, nuns, mothers, mystics, preachers, teachers, suffragists, and household managers-who interpreted Scripture through their writings. This book recounts the struggles and achievements of women who gained access to education and biblical texts. It tells the story of how their interpretive writings were preserved or, all too often, lost. It also explores how, in many cases, women interpreted Scripture differently from the men of their times. Consequently, Voices Long Silenced makes an important, new contribution to biblical reception history. This book focuses on women’s written words and briefly comments on women’s interpretation in media, such as music, visual arts, and textile arts. It includes short, representative excerpts from diverse women’s own writings that demonstrate noteworthy engagement with Scripture. Voices Long Silencedcalls on scholars and religious communities to recognize the contributions of women, past and present, who interpreted Scripture, preached, taught, and exercised a wide variety of ministries in churches and synagogues.

Fight Like Jesus
$17.99Throughout Holy Week, two competing approaches to peacemaking collide.

Hope : 30 Day Devotional
$11.99Can we be sure of God? Do we trust his purposes and promises?
Biblical confidence doesn’t mean we won’t ever shed tears or have doubts. It certainly doesn’t mean that we’ll grow in popularity or assertiveness. But it does mean that we can trust God’s character and his Word.
Trusted Bible teachers Alistair Begg, Steve Brady, Raymond Brown, Andrew Dow, Jonathan Lamb, Alex Motyer, Hugh Palmer, Vaughan Roberts and Keith Weston unpack this theme. See that God is who he says he is, and that what he says, he means, even on our darkest days.
So, even when we suffer, or our prayers appear unanswered, or it feels like God isn’t in control, we can still trust him. Our confidence is rock solid, whatever life throws at us.

Madison Park : A Place Of Hope
$19.99Welcome to Madison Park, a small community in Alabama founded by freed slaves in 1880. And meet Eric Motley, a native son who came of age in this remarkable place where constant lessons in self-determination, hope, and unceasing belief in the American dream taught him everything he needed for his journey to the Oval Office as a special assistant to President George W. Bush.
Eric grew up among people whose belief was to give and never turn away from your neighbor’s need. There was Aunt Shine, the goodly matriarch who cared so much about young Motley’s schooling that she would stand up in a crowded church and announce Eric’s progress or his shortcomings. There was Old Man Salery, who secretly siphoned gasoline from his beat-up car into the Motleys’ tank at night. There were Motley’s grandparents, who bought books for Eric they couldn’t afford, spending the last of their seed money. And there was Reverend Brinkley, a man of enormous faith and simple living. It was said that whenever the Reverend came your way, light abounded. Life in Madison Park wasn’t always easy or fair, and Motley reveals personal and heartbreaking stories of racial injustice and segregation. But Eric shows how the community taught him everything he needed to know about love and faith.
This charming, engaging, and deeply inspiring memoir will help you remember that we can create a world of shared values based on love and hope. It is a story that reveals the amazing power of faith in God and each other. If you’re in search of hope during troubled times, look no further than Madison Park.

When God Changed His Mind
$17.99“Isaiah. Isaiah! Get up, son! Isaiah! You have to get up! Get off the floor! I can’t stop!”
I reached one hand behind me and shook him the best I could while driving. My heart pounded, and my body trembled. What could be so wrong that he can’t control his body?
Things go downhill quickly after Christina Custodio picks up her thirteen-year-old son early from football practice due to a headache. By the time she arrives, he has little control of his body and quickly becomes unresponsive. Soon, he is rushed into surgery, his brain filled with blood from a severe brain hemorrhage.
From the time he was born, Christina had always felt Isaiah would die young. Though a typical boy with no health issues, the thought always lingered. Now Christina begs God to change His mind and save her son’s life.
When God Changed His Mind chronicles Christina’s inspiring and emotional story of trusting God through the unknown, peace among the chaos, and joy in the midst of sorrow. Grateful that Isaiah survives but unsure he will ever recover his speech and mobility, Christina shares of her dependence on God during the ups and downs of their journey, the power of prayer, and her determination to use challenges and struggles for His glory.

Covenantal And Dispensational Theologies
$31.99How does the canon of Scripture fit together?
For evangelical Christians, there is no question about the authority of Scripture and its testimony to the centrality of Jesus Christ in God’s salvation plan. But several questions remain: How do the Old Testament and New Testament relate to each other? What is the relationship among the biblical covenants? How should Christians read and interpret Scripture in order to do justice to both its individual parts and its whole message? How does Israel relate to the church? In this volume in IVP Academic’s Spectrum series, readers will find four contributors who explore these complex questions. The contributors each make a case for their own view–representing two versions of covenantal theology and two versions of dispensational theology–and then respond to the others’ views to offer an animated yet irenic discussion on the continuity of Scripture. Views and Contributors:
*Covenant Theology: Michael S. Horton, Gresham Machen Professor of Systematic Theology and Apologetics, Westminster Seminary California
*Progressive Covenantalism: Stephen J. Wellum, professor of Christian theology, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
*Progressive Dispensationalism: Darrell L. Bock, Senior Research Professor of New Testament Studies, Dallas Theological Seminary
*Traditional Dispensationalism: Mark A. Snoeberger, professor of systematic theology and apologetics, Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary

Jonathan Edwards And Deification
$41.99The doctrine of deification or theosis is typically associated with the Eastern Orthodox tradition.
Indeed, the language of participation in the divine nature as a way to understand salvation often sounds like strange music in the ears of Western Christians despite passages like 2 Peter 1:4 where it appears. However, recent scholarship has argued that the theologies of some of the most prominent figures in the history of the Western church, including Martin Luther, John Calvin, and John Wesley, share more in common with deification than has been acknowledged. In this volume of IVP Academic’s New Explorations in Theology series, theologian James Salladin considers the role of deification in the theology of another well-known Western theologian: Jonathan Edwards. In addition, he reflects upon the question of how Edwards’s soteriology compares with the rest of the broader Reformed tradition. Here, we discover how Edwards’s theology affirms what it means for sinners to be brought into the hands of a loving God.

Filled To Be Emptied
$17.00Through a combination of in-depth Bible study and social analysis, Filled to Be Emptied invites readers to explore the Kenosis Hymn verse by verse and see Jesus’ self-emptying example as a model for privileged people to see their advantages not “as something to be exploited” but as something to be laid aside to seek the good of others.
“Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself . . .” (Philippians 2:5-7a)These ancient words offer a guide for modern Christians wrestling with their privileged place in an unequal and unjust world. The Kenosis Hymn (as this passage quoted by the apostle Paul is known) celebrates Jesus for his willingness to forego the divine glory that he is due, instead humbling himself to serve the oppressed and outcast of his society.

Attacking Anxiety : From Panicked And Depressed To Alive And Free
$19.99Shawn Johnson, lead pastor of Red Rocks Church, gives a searingly honest portrait of anxiety and depression and shows readers how to fight back and live free.
Shawn Johnson was the lead pastor of a thriving, fast-growing church. He was supposed to have it all together. But he was also struggling in silence with anxiety and depression, suffering from debilitating panic attacks that told him the lie that this would never end, that he’d spend the rest of his life in excruciating pain. Until one day he ended up sobbing and screaming on the side of the road. He had to be brought home by his wife and two friends, who removed any potential weapons from his house while he sat with his head in his hands, begging God for a miracle.
In Attacking Anxiety, Shawn vulnerably shares about this dark time and offers those familiar with that same struggle everything he’s learned in his battles with anxiety, depression, and hopelessness. As readers join Shawn on this journey, he will:
*expose the lies that lead toward isolation and replace them with the truths that are essential to survival;
*reveal the things that most people don’t realize are adding more anxiety and depression to their lives and replace them with the wisdom and support that lead to true freedom;
*explain what to do when you, or someone you love, is in the middle of a panic attack, and
*guide you through what you need to know, what you need to start doing, what you need to stop doing, and what you need to remember in order to start attacking anxiety and depression.
This is not a one-and-done process that will completely free you from all brokenness, but it will help you recognize that, even in the middle of so much brokenness and overwhelming pain, God has a plan and a purpose for your life, and he is ready to heal you in ways you never thought possible.

They Turned The World Upside Down
$18.99Now available in trade paper! Walk in the shoes of the disciples, as New York Times bestselling author Charles Martin brings their stories to life with his storyteller’s perspective.
In the first century, believer didn’t just mean someone who heard and agreed with Jesus; it meant someone who acted on that belief. And when the outside world saw the faith of these new believers, they declared “they turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6).
That’s the kind of believer Charles Martin wants us to be. The kind who understands that the truth of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection is so powerful, it reshaped history. The kind of believer who lives with that same world-changing faith today.
In his second non-fiction work, he uses his talents as a novelist to walk you through the lives of the disciples in the aftermath of the Resurrection and as they spread the message of the Gospel and “turn the world upside down”, leading up to Paul’s ministry in Thessonalica. In his beloved lyrical style, Martin illuminates key moments from Scripture and shares stories from his own life as a disciple.
With the same depth, sensitivity, and emotion that have made his novels beloved to millions, Martin will help you engage with your faith in a new and inspiring way.

Girl Who Could Breathe Under Water
$21.17When Kendra Brennan moves into her grandfather’s old cabin on Hidden Lake, she has a problem and a plan. The problem? An inflammatory letter from A Very Disappointed Reader that’s keeping her from writing her next novel as long as its claims go unanswered. The plan? To confront Tyler, her childhood best friend’s brother–and the man who inspired the antagonist in her first book–in order to prove to herself that she told the truth as all good novelists should.
What she discovers as she delves into the murky past is not what she expected. Facing Tyler isn’t easy, but facing the truth of her failed friendship with his sister, Cami, may be the hardest thing she’s ever had to do.
Award-winning novelist Erin Bartels searches the heart with this lyrical exploration of how a friendship dies, how we can face the unforgiveable, and how even those who have been hurt can learn to love with abandon.
