Invitation To Solitude And Silence
$25.99Add to cartWinner of a Christianity Today Book Award! Much of our faith and practice is about words–preaching, teaching, talking with others. Yet all of these words are not enough to take us into the real presence of God where we can hear his voice. This book is an invitation to you to meet God deeply and fully outside the demands and noise of daily life. It is an invitation to solitude and silence. The beauty of a true invitation is that we really do have a choice about embarking on this adventure. God extends the invitation, but he honors our freedom and will not push himself where he is not wanted. Instead, he waits for us to respond from the depths of our desire. Will you say yes? This expanded edition includes a guide for groups to use both in discussing the book content and in learning to practice silence together.

Majestie : The King Behind The King James Bible
$14.99Add to cartWritten with a touch of the irreverent, Majestie is a shared biography: that of the first Stuart King of England (James I) and the Bible that goes by his name. It is part tabloid, part history lesson, part speculation; but it’s all James. A biography of James Stuart is a study in paradox, one that entertains as much as it informs. James I waddles through history, sidewise and crablike. Intellectually astute, he can dazzle and charm with the polish of his rhetoric one minute, and speak with the vulgarity of a tavern bawd the next. James is an amusing mix of bombast and majesty, of sparkle and grime, of smut and brilliance, of visionary headship and foolishness. And only he, this all-too-human king, our flawed James, could have given us the great book he did. Early in his reign, James fashioned himself as the “new Solomon,” the pacifist prince entering the “the land of promise,” that is, the England inherited from his cousin Elizabeth. But the milk and honey he expected was a mirage. Still, in many respects he flirts with greatness. He is the first king of a united, or “Great Britain.” For all his foibles, all his bungling, James possesses an evolved sense of majesty, a type of faith in majesty itself, and wants nothing more than for his new Bible to reflect this majesty, to gild and elevate the reign, to be the great medicine that might heal the realm. Colorful, witty, imperfect, sensuous, bawdy, intelligent, England has had no king like him, nor any book like the one he bequeathed us, before or since.

Story Of God The Story Of Us
$22.99Add to cartBefore the Bible was a book it was flesh and blood. “The ever present ache of exile rises above the comforting sounds of the river, as the image of the house of the LORD in ruins breaks the peace. . . . Despite the warmth of the fire, he feels a chill. He wraps his cloak around him and looks into the eager faces of his people, then closes his eyes. ‘Picture this scene . . .'” Travel with Sean Gladding between the lines of the Scriptures to listen in on the conversations of people wrestling with the Story we have received.
Whether sitting around a campfire in Babylon, reclining at table in Asia Minor or huddled together by candlelight in Rome, we meet people encountering the Story for the first time and for the hundred and first time. With them we hear a tale that is at once both familiar and surprising.
A book that can be read alone but preferably with others, here is an account of Scripture that introduces us to people who remind us of ourselves, because as much as the Bible is a story about God, it’s also a story about us.

Great Passion : An Introduction To Karl Barths Theology
$37.99Add to cartWidely regarded as the twentieth century’s greatest theologian, Karth Barth refocused the task of Christian theology and demonstrated its relevance to every domain of human life, from the spiritual to the social to the political. It is precisely the broad sweep of Barth’s theology that makes a book like The Great Passion of such great value – a succinct yet comprehensive introduction to Barth’s entire theological program. Of the many people who write on the life and thought of Karl Barth, Eberhard Busch is uniquely placed. A world-renowned expert on Barth’s theology, he also served as Barth’s personal assistant from 1965 to 1968. As Busch explains, one cannot fully understand Barth the theologian apart from understanding Barth the man. In this book he weaves doctrine and biography into a superb presentation of Barth’s complete work. Busch’s purpose in this introduction is to guide readers through the main themes of the multivolume Church Dogmatics against the horizon of our own times and problems. In ten sections Busch clearly explains Barth’s views on all of the major subject areas of systematic theology: the nature of revelation, Israel and Christology, the Trinity and the doctrine of predestination, the “problem” of religion, gospel and law, creation, salvation, the Holy Spirit, ecclesiology, and eschatology. A distinctive feature of the book is the way Busch lets Barth speak for himself, often through surprising quotations and paraphrases. Busch also shows how Barth’s writing should be read as a dialogue, constantly and consciously engaging other voices past and present, both inside and outside the church. Most important, The Great Passion demonstrates that Barth’s thought is still remarkably helpful today.

Baptism In The Holy Spirit (Anniversary)
$44.99Add to cartBaptism in the Holy Spirit is one of James Dunn’s most influential books and has become a classic. Forty years after its original publication it still sparks debate and appears on many Reading lists. In an extensive Preface to this fortieth anniversary edition, James Dunn engages with the debates about the book since it was first published. In Baptism in the Holy Spirit James Dunn argues that water baptism is only one element in the New Testament pattern of conversion and initiation. The gift of the Spirit, he believes, is the central element. For the writers of the New Testament only those who had received the Holy Spirit could be called Christians. For them, the reception of the Spirit was a very definite and often very dramatic experience–the decisive and climactic experience in conversion and initiation–to which Christians were usually recalled when reminded of their Christian faith and experience. James Dunn uncovers the place of the gift of the Holy Spirit in the total complex event of becoming a Christian.

Exodus From Hunger
$22.00Add to cartIt is within America’s technical and financial power to help end world hunger in our lifetime, if we set our hearts and minds to the task.
Contrary to what many people believe, the world has made measurable advancements against hunger and poverty over the last several decades. But too often the binding constraint on further progress is a simple lack of political will. As a result, one of the most powerful ways to affect change is often the most neglected–political activism.
In this powerful and hopeful book, David Beckmann, president of Bread for the World and a leading anti-hunger activist, looks at the causes of hunger, presents case studies of countries that have made great strides against it, and puts a human face on the problem by sharing stories of people who are, quite simply, hungry every day. The problems can seem overwhelming but Beckmann lays out a clear and workable plan for effectively using political channels to make great progress. He not only challenges us to get involved, he shows us how.
It is no less than our call to do so.

Resurrection Of Jesus
$60.99Add to cartThe question of the historicity of Jesus’ resurrection has been repeatedly probed, investigated and debated. And the results have varied widely. Perhaps some now regard this issue as the burned-over district of New Testament scholarship, while others have come to believe that we simply do not have th adequate methods to make the controversial results of the field of any use. Could there be any new and promising approach to this problem?
Yes, answers Michael Licona. And in The Resurrection of Jesus: A Historiographical Approach he convincingly points us to a significant deficiency in approaching this question: our historiographical orientation and practice.
So he opens this study with an extensive consideration of historiography in general, and the particular problem of investigating claims of miracles. This alone is a valuable contribution to the ongoing struggle for methodoloical viability in historical Jesus scholarship.
But then Licona carefully applies his principles and methods to the question of Jesus’ resurrection. In addition to determining and working from the most reliable sources and foundational historical evidence, Licona critically weighs tegh viability of others’ prominent hypotheses.
His own argument is a challenging and closely argued case for the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ. Any future approaches to dealing with this “prize puzzle” of New Testament study will need to be routed through The Resurrection of Jesus.

Surviving In An Angry World
$17.99Add to cartThe premise of this book is that learning to let go of anger-and ultimately forgiving the offender-will transform the foundation of every kind of relationship we have. Stanley defines anger as “a strong feeling of intense displeasure, hostility, or indignation as a result of a real or an imagined threat or insult, frustration, or injustice toward yourself or towards someone who’s very important to you.” Building on this defintion, Stanley…
1. Helps readers identify the signs of anger, so they can identify anger in themselves.
2. Reveals the far-reaching consequences of anger, which encompass the spiritual, emotional, and physical.
3. Teaches readers how to handle anger through thirteen concrete steps.
4. Walks readers through the steps to true forgiveness and the healing power it brings.
With compassion and a wealth of biblical understanding, Stanley explains that the measure of a person is “the size of thing that makes them angry.” He goes on to distinguish between healthy and harmful anger and reminds us that “righteous indignation” is a divine emotion. However, he skillfully explains that misguided anger eats away at ourselves, our relationships with others, and our relationship with God. By helping readers look honestly at the source of their anger, he gently leads them to the ability to truly forgive and find the peace they seek.

Holiness The Key To Revival
$15.99Add to cartThis book is to bring hope, encouragement and fresh vision to the Church.
It is for Christians who are:
* Frustrated – but believing.
* ‘Saved – but stuck’ (‘stuck’ in ‘the wilderness’).
* Forgiven – but not in victory.
* Disappointed, discouraged, disillusioned, doubting damaged, defeated and/or desperate.
* Hungry for more of God.For sincere Christians, holiness is usually an aspiration which is only vaguely dreamt about, but with no real concrete, proven direction to follow. Many of God’s people recognize that holiness is a commandment of God……but – how do we become holy and walk in holiness and, is it possible?
This book has the answer – based on the Word of God and testimonies of past saints who did walk in holiness and, through whose lives God was able to move, often bringing revival and thousands of souls to the Lord.
Lack of teaching on this vital doctrine of Experiential Sanctification is a major reason why the Church is not walking in holiness and victory. The lateness of the hour and days in which we live surely spur us on to seek our God with all our hearts, and cry, ‘Create in me a clean heart, O God’. ‘Holiness – the Key to Revival’ will enlighten and excite the believer to experience a more effective personal Christian Life.

Job And The Gospel Of Suffering
$42.49Add to cartThis read will quicken the steps in the way of the Lord, lift the head in expectation, assurance and hope, and cause the heart to rejoice (Paulinian Boast) in the merciful, gracious and unchanging (predictable and reliable) GOOD ALMIGHTY.
This work tackles some traditional and absurd teachings on the Book of Job along with that accompanying “Gospel of Suffering,” which some have built to support these teachings. It removes the darkness from God’s character and sets the disciple of Christ free to stand in the light of a good God who does not tempt (test or try) his saints. It shows that the statement by the young Elihu, that God will not afflict, is not only true in itself, but is the unfailing word of God.
All readers, from the young Christian to the elder, will come away with a joyful freshness in the knowledge of the true Sovereignty of God. And burdens carried long now, and unnecessarily, will fall from many.

Why Is Collin Like That
$25.99Add to cartMy story begins with a very unhappy baby boy, screaming day and night. My son, Collin, was diagnosed with PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder), under the Autistic spectrum, by the age of two. As Collin grew, the unmasking of his disorders did also. PDD, ADHD and OCD were among them. So began my new career as “doctor” stay at home mom.
I remember a seminar I attended a couple years ago with my mother. Questions from concerned parents swarmed the room like bees around a disturbed hive. The presenter addressed everyone patiently. He calmly said, “Listen, most importantly, you are looking for very peculiar behaviors.” My mother turned to me and said with a sigh of relief, “Well, thank God Collin doesn’t have any of those.” I looked at her so strange and replied, “Yeah, mom, you’re right. His sucking on batteries, throwing away silverware, keeping the spoons under his mattress and licking his hands while “grooming” his face is certainly not peculiar. I think we are safe…” We burst out laughing.
My daughter, Karlie, is a beautiful and loving little girl. Unfortunately, it took me a few years to discover how much she had taken on emotionally being the “big sister”. As parents, we do not always recognize just how much children are affected when it comes to having a sibling with a disability. Just the simple task of watching television together can be so hard for them. As parents, we need to raise awareness on the affects our “non-disabled” children deal with every day. Many prayerful nights have been spent attempting to communicate these issues to others. Prayerfully, this book will help you and His children. God hears you…and I HEAR YOU!

Sergeant York
$14.99Add to cartIt was a bitter-cold morning on October 8, 1918. Six hundred American soldiers were surrounded by the German army near the Argonne Forest in France. Corporal Alvin York’s unit was ordered out of the trenches and into battle against an enemy armed with machine guns. York was eventually pinned down among his dead and injured comrades. What happened next was a feat of bravery and military skill that would amaze his countrymen, change his life, and etch his place in the history books. Born in a two-room log cabin in the hills of northern Tennessee, York was a bona fide backwoodsman who had taken numerous prizes at turkey shoots back home. His marksmanship served him well that morning in WWI. By the time he reached the U.S. position, York and his few remaining companions were marshaling a parade of 132 enemy soldiers. His feat knocked the wind out of a planned German counterattack. Not bad for a former conscientious objector. In this Christian Encounters biography, learn more about York’s struggles with being a Christian and a soldier and how this simple man showed a nation the meaning of the word hero.

Edmund Spenser (1559-99) has earned the title ‘the poet’s poet’ because of the high poetry of his epic and because so many great poets, including Milton, Dryden, Tennyson, and Keats, cut their poetic teeth on The Faerie Queene. The hero of Book II is Sir Guyon, the knight of Temperance. But do not let that throw you. This is not a poem about teetotalism. As C.S. Lewis puts it, The Faerie Queene ‘demands of us a child’s love of marvels and dread of bogies, a boy’s thirst for adventures, a young man’s passions for physical beauty.
Following in the wake of Roy Maynard’s Fierce Wars and Faithful Loves, Toby Sumpter’s notes are insightful and humorous making this great Christian epic poem accessible for modern readers. The Elfin Knight makes an excellent choice as a homeschool or classroom text.

Leading The Congregation (Revised)
$34.99Add to cartLeading the Congregation is a complete and definitive guide to the practice of church leadership. The book describes essential paradigms for the leader that integrate spiritual integrity and service within a “systems” view of the congregation and its ministry.
This revised and updated version focuses on the challenges of congregational leadership in a culture that has fewer ties to Christian faith. The authors lay out the dual contexts in which church leaders must function-within the congregation, and as the congregation’s representative to the community-and they explain the very different skill sets required to flourish in each. Underlying the revised edition is an insistence on the congregational leader’s call from God, and cultivation of her or his relationship with God. Leadership is not the same thing as charisma, they explain; it is rather a set of attitudes and practices that each of us can and must master if we are to be worthy servants of Christ.

Jesus You Cant Ignore
$19.99Add to cartBest-selling author John MacArthur gives readers a fresh look at how Jesus addressed attacks against the truth. Meek and mild. Politically correct. A great teacher. These are the popular depictions of Jesus. But they aren’t the complete picture. Maybe because it’s uncomfortable, or maybe because it’s inconvenient, Christians and non-Christians alike are overlooking the fierceness of the Savior and His passionate mission to make the gospel clear and bring people into the Kingdom of God. This mission required that he sometimes raise his voice and sometimes raise a whip. In the much-needed message in The Jesus You Can’t Ignore, renowned Bible teacher and best-selling author John MacArthur reintroduces the compelling and often unsettling passion of Jesus’ ministry. MacArthur points to the picture of the real Jesus the world is so eager to gloss over. And he calls readers to emulate Jesus’ commitment to further the kingdom by confronting lies and protecting the truth of God.

Heaven Is For Real
$19.99Add to cartA young boy emerges from life-saving surgery with remarkable stories of his visit to heaven. Heaven is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about being able to look down and see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didn’t know what to believe but soon the evidence was clear.Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born, then shared impossible-to-know details about each. He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how “reaaally big” God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit “shoots down power” from heaven to help us.Told by the father, but often in Colton’s own words, the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle.

Why Business Matters To God
$26.99Add to cartJeff Van Duzer grew up thinking business was the source of much damage and evil in the world, the work of greedy capitalists polluting the environment. Thirty years later he was dean of a business school. In the course of that remarkable transformation, Van Duzer found cause for both hope and concern. He discovered many business people achieving a great deal of good for society as well as a lot of illegal and unethical behavior. Along the way he found some who thought that merely being honest and kind was what made business Christian. Others said they’d never ask pastors for business advice because they had no interest or experience in their work. After all, wasn’t “full-time Christian service” what the church was all about? This book explores the nature and meaning of doing business and finds it calls for much more than most think. Van Duzer presents a profoundly Christian approach that integrates biblical studies with the disciplines of business and economics. Looking beyond the place of ethical principles and the character of the individual, Van Duzer displays a vision of business that contributes to the very purposes of God.

Theology Remixed : Christianity As Story Game Language Culture
$24.99Add to cartIVP Print On Demand Title
Jesus didn’t give his followers a fixed set of statements defining everything they needed to know about the kingdom of God in a neat package. Rather he told stories, made comparisons, drew contrasts. He talked of a mustard seed, of yeast and of a hidden treasure to communicate some of the most important truths of the faith. Jesus didn’t fall back on parables because he lacked the right words. Parables were the exact way Jesus intended to communicate. What pictures or analogies today can give us greater understanding of the Christian faith? Adam English finds fresh insight in four: Christianity as story, game, language, culture. Christianity is like a story with scenery, characters and plots. It’s like a language with vocabulary, grammar and conversation. It’s like a game with rules and players, goals and equipment. It’s like a culture with a distinct way of living, working, playing and loving. No one analogy is complete, but all offer new windows of appreciation for the faith. English gives us a fresh representation of Christian theology that is neither modern nor postmodern, but in dialogue with both in order to articulate what we believe. Here is a book for those who want to grasp Christianity more fully and authentically in a way that illuminates our contemporary cultural context and enables us to make a compelling response.

Images Of Salvation In The New Testament
$38.99Add to cartWhat does salvation in the New Testament look like? “The New Testament does not develop a systematic doctrine of salvation,” writes Brenda Colijn. “Instead, it presents us with a variety of pictures taken from different perspectives. From one angle, the human predicament is rebellion against God. Salvation looks like living under God’s universal reign. From another angle, the human predicament is bondage to both internal and external forces. Salvation looks like freedom from those forces. From yet a third angle, the human predicament looks like alienation from God, from other people, from creation and even from one’s own best self. Salvation looks like the restoration of those relationships.” Colijn, who holds degrees in English literature as well as theology, embraces a critical-realist methodology that incorporates New Testament theology, literary criticism and theological interpretation. She advocates listening to the individual authors of Scripture in their own social-cultural and historical settings, while looking for how the texts work both individually and collectively at a literary level. Students of the New Testament and of theology will both find their vision broadened and their understanding deepened by this rich, informative study. As the author seeks to understand their implications for people of faith, she uncovers how New Testament images provide the building blocks of the master story of redemption.

Darwin On Trial (Anniversary)
$26.99Add to cartIs evolution fact or fancy? Is natural selection an unsupported hypothesis or a confirmed mechanism of evolutionary change? These were the courageous questions that professor of law Phillip Johnson originally took up in 1991. His relentless pursuit to follow the evidence wherever it leads remains as relevant today as then. The facts and the logic of the arguments that purport to establish a theory of evolution based on Darwinian principles, says Johnson, continue to draw their strength from faith–faith in philosophical naturalism. In this edition Johnson responds to critics of the first edition and maintains that scientists have put the cart before the horse, regarding as scientific fact what really should be regarded as a yet unproved hypothesis. Also included is a new, extended introduction by noted biologist Michael Behe, who chronicles the ongoing relevance of Johnson’s cogent analysis.

Ministers Of The Law
$34.99Add to cartIn Ministers of the Law Jean Porter articulates a theory of legal authority derived from the natural law tradition. As she points out, the legal authority of most traditions rests on their own internal structures, independent of extralegal considerations – legal houses built on sand, as it were. Natural law tradition, on the other hand, offers a basis for legal authority that goes beyond mere arbitrary commands or social conventions, offering some extralegal authority without compromising the independence and integrity of the law.
Yet Porter does more in this volume than simply discuss historical and theoretical realms of natural law. She carries the theory into application to contemporary legal issues, bringing objective normative structures to contemporary Western societies suspicious of such concepts.

Changing Human Nature
$29.99Add to cartHow would God have us respond to the brave new world of genetic engineering? In Changing Human Nature James Peterson offers an informed Christian defense of genetic intervention.
Given that the material world and human beings are constantly changing, says Peterson, the question is not if there will be change but whether we will be conscious and conscientious about its direction. Part of our God-given calling, he maintains, is to positively shape our environment and ourselves, including our genes.
While carefully addressing legitimate religious concerns, Peterson’s theologically grounded yet jargon-free discussion puts forth clear and specific guidelines for proper genetic intervention. Distinctive for its integrated, nuanced approach, Changing Human Nature will fill the need for a thoughtful, positive Christian perspective on this timely topic.

Republic Of Grace
$28.99Add to cartWith The Republic of Grace Charles Mathewes aims to supply a primer of politics and the public square to help Christians in these dark times find hope in public life. He asks such questions as How should our Christian convictions lead us to see the world differently than those who do not share them? What are the categories that believers should use to act on the challenges of the world?
Mathewes uses theological virtues best loved by Augustine – faith, hope, and love – to provide an analogical mirror for Christian citizenship in a post-9/11 American world. He examines not how religion has shaped our politics but rather how politics has shaped and mis-shaped our religious life and how we can begin to correct that shape.
The Republic of Grace will help reignite and inform a fierce commitment to the common good of our society, caring concern for the least and most vulnerable, and the use of each person’s gifts, power, and wealth as a force for good and justice in the world. In short, this book will enable readers to realize the sacramental possibilities of political life.

Vulnerability And Glory
$40.00Add to cartVulnerability and risk are global realities. Violence, genocide, famine, and natural disaster indicate the complex vulnerability of earthly existence expressed by the biblical depiction of humans as fragile “earthen vessels.” Culp demonstrates how the entire world is vulnerable to transformation as well as destruction and offers a theological account of how vulnerability is the very basis for life before God. Only when we are truly vulnerable can we witness the grace and glory of God manifested through our resistance to inhumanity, testimony in the midst of suffering, and expressions of delight and gratitude for the good gifts of life.

Forgiving As Weve Been Forgiven
$20.99Add to cartChristians are supposed to forgive others as we’ve been forgiven. But hearing the call to forgive is different from knowing how to practice forgiveness at home and in the world. Forgiveness is about more than the isolated acts and words of individuals. To forgive and be forgiven, we need communal practices and disciplines for a way of life that makes for peace. Greg Jones and Celestin Musekura describe how churches and communities can cultivate the habits that make forgiveness possible on a daily basis. Following the Rwandan genocide, Musekura lost his father and other family members to revenge killings. But then he heard God tell him to forgive the killers. The healing power of forgiveness in his own life inspired him to work for forgiveness and reconciliation across Africa. Jones, author of Embodying Forgiveness, interacts with Musekura’s story to show how people can practice forgiveness not only in dramatic situations like genocide but also in everyday circumstances of marriage, family and congregational life. Together they demonstrate that forgiving and being forgiven are mutually reciprocating practices that lead to transformation and healing.

Revelation Of Jesus Christ In The Old Testament
$20.99Add to cartChrist: The Angel of God.
Christ: The Battle Bow
Christ: A Goodly CedarSince the time that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour in 1976, I have heard it said that He was the focus of the Bible. I have never doubted that. I have heard it said that Jesus Christ was the subject of each book of the Bible, including the Old Testament. I struggled with that, not because it was untrue, but because no one in my theological circle submitted proof that it was true. This book is proof that Jesus Christ can be found in each book of the Old Testament. Therefore, Jesus Christ is available to become the subject of any book of the Bible if we take this approach to the Scriptures.
What is the benefit of this approach? The Lord Jesus Christ becomes more precious to our souls as we encounter the varied facets of His Person. That should be enough, but now we can gain new insights into the Godhead and the inspired Word of God. This approach provides a fresh reason to study the Bible and a new direction in sermon and lesson preparation. Personal and family devotions are given new life in Christ. A fresh breeze blows across the pages of the Old Testament.
The book is arranged for ease of use. Section One contains all the designations of Christ arranged alphabetically. Section Two contains all the physical aspects of Christ arranged alphabetically. Section Three is arranged by the mentions of Christ in each book of the Old Testament.
Do you have your Bible? Do you have this book? Begin your journey seeking for “…the unsearchable riches of Christ.”

Tokens Of Trust
$22.00Add to cartIn this thematic group of reflections based on the ancient creeds of Christendom, the 104th archbishop of Canterbury once again demonstrates his stature as a scholar with a deep concern for the spiritual welfare of contemporary believers. Author of Grace and Necessity: Reflections on Art and Love, and a former professor of divinity at Cambridge University, Williams here investigates the great themes of the Apostles and Nicene Creeds, from creation to crucifixion, sin to resurrection. But while he does not evade examining the doctrines undergirding these early church confessions, his purpose is to support his central argument: when we do not know whom to trust or where to turn, we can have complete confidence in the reliability of a loving God. “At the heart of the desperate suffering there is in the world,” writes Williams, “suffering we can do nothing to resolve or remove for good, there is an indestructible energy making for love.” At times sober, but rarely inaccessible, the learned archbishop brings a restrained passion to these meditations that will make them more available to readers seeking pastoral guidance along with their theology.

The tensions often cited between psychology and Christianity are well known. Much worthwhile work has been done to construct theories and frameworks for integrating the two. But how do Christians in psychology actually weave together these strands of their lives and their work. What are their stories? Here Glendon Moriarty brings together twelve of the foremost clinicians and academics in the field of Christian integration to share their stories. Coming from different perspectives and experiences, reflecting gender and ethnic diversity, these prominent psychologists tell about their spiritual, personal and professional journeys of interrelating their faith and profession. In this book we hear about the developmental issues, the sense of calling and the early career insights that shaped their paths. They recount the importance that significant relationships had on their understanding of Christian integration, especially noting the influence of mentors. Struggles and doubts are common human experiences, and the contributors openly share the stresses they encountered to encourage others with similar issues. On a day-to-day basis, we see how spiritual disciplines and the Christian community assist them in their work and in their understanding. Finally, each writer offers a personal note with lessons learned and hard-won wisdom gained. Randall Sorenson once said, “The integration of psychology and Christianity is caught, not taught.” In these stories is a unique opportunity to catch sight of twelve who have already traveled that challenging path. -
Discerning And Defeating The Ahab Spirit (Reprinted)
$16.00Add to cartIn the Old Testament, Jezebel was married to Ahab, king of Israel. Ahab ceded his power to his wife, acquiescing to her control and becoming passive. In the same way today, people demonstrating the control and domination of the Jezebel spirit compel people into the passivity of an Ahab spirit, whether in a marital situation, a church, or any other relationship.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Using sound biblical teaching and real-life illustrations–some from his own life–bestselling author Steve Sampson shows readers how to discern and defeat the spirit of Ahab, Jezebel’s ancient ally. It is possible to be assertive in a godly way, and Sampson’s teaching will motivate believers trapped in passivity to claim their freedom and become a positive force for change.

This is one of the most vexing questions in Christian life and theology. Terence Fretheim offers fresh readings of familiar Old Testament passages–such as creation, the flood, and the suffering of Job–to give readers biblical resources for working through this topic. Genuine Flow : How The Faith Giants Flowed In The Spirit And How You Can To
$19.99Add to cartThere is a genuine flow
of the Holy Spirit!
. . . and many worthless imitations.
Mel Montgomery learned about spiritual gifts and prophetic
ministry from the Goodwins, who were mentors to Kenneth Hagin,
John Osteen, Billye Brim, Pat Harrison, and many others.
Eventually, Brother Mel was entrusted with rare early Pentecostal
recordings, most of which had never before been copied or released
to the public. These recordings were by: Howard Carter, Stanley
Frodsham, F.F. Bosworth, and other faith giants of yesteryear.
Mel discovered that the deep truths of the Holy Spirit, as taught by
the Goodwins and the early Pentecostal giants, had been largely
obscured in our day. In The Genuine Flow, Mel presents the
teachings of the early faith giants, combined with his own
experiences in ministry. You will learn how the faith giants flowed
in the Spirit, and how you can too. -
Neat Jewish Stuff For Christians
$15.49Add to cartHave you ever wondered why the Bible is so, well, Jewish?
God revealed His character and his plan for the world through His chosen people, the Jews. It was through the line of Abraham that the Bible was written. It was from this same line that Jesus was born. It was from the Jews that Jesus called his disciples, and out of Judaism the early church was born.
Neat Jewish Stuff for Christians reveals many facets of ancient Jewish religious and cultural life which Jesus used to help His listeners understand His teachings. Through understanding these rites and customs, God’s plan for drawing us into relationship with Him is revealed.
Neat Jewish Stuff for Christians brings the reader to a better understanding of the Jewish roots of the Christian faith and the message of Jesus. Questions for discussion are included after each chapter. As Dr. Teitelbaum sums up: “Christians grow in worshipful appreciation of Jesus when His roots in Judaism are understood.”

Maturing In Christ
$20.99Add to cartMaturing in Christ focuses on Christian truth that relates to living a successful spiritual life. Before a Christian can realize a consistent victorious spiritual life some basic truths must be understood: 1) the riches given by God at salvation to live Christ-like; 2) who the spiritual enemies are and how they attack; 3) and how to utilize divine enabling when resisting the enemies in order to live a successful Christian life.
The Christian has three spiritual enemies: Satan, the world system and the sin nature. Dr. Schafer uses Scripture to identify these adversaries and how to access God’s provisions for the strength to be victorious over them. This expository study of the Word is dedicated to Dr. Schafer’s lifelong desire for saints to live Christ-like.
