    • Sitting Strong : Wrestling With The Ornery Of God

      $20.29

Sitting Strong: Wrestling with the Ornery God, by bestselling author Jeanie Miley, suggests that when life knocks the props out from under you, it is possible to gather up your agony and wrestle with it in the presence of the God who may feel strangely absent. This book is not about being strong. Rather, taking the struggles and triumphs of Job as its guide, this book is about that terrible time when all you can do is stumble onto the ash heap of suffering and simply sit.

    • Ancient Psalms For Contemporary Pilgrims

      13 Chapters

      Additional Info
Because it is sometimes challenging for today’s Christians to move from the frenetic pace and noisy world of today’s society and enter into the silence and stillness of contemplative praying, Jeanie Miley provides a way of using the psalms as a doorway into prayer. Reading the psalm indicated for each day’s meditation and then reflecting on the day’s reading, persons are invited to “pray the psalms” in a way that connects the ancient prayers with their own present-day experience. By moving back and forth between the psalm and your own experience in prayer, Ancient Psalms for Contemporary Pilgrims provides a process through which the Living God can lead you to a deeper reflection on your own life

The marketplace is busy today. You are enjoying chatting with friends, but you find yourself increasingly distracted by someone across the street. There is something about his look, his mannerisms, the way he interacts with people that compels you to wander away from your friends, following him through the crowd. You intently watch his every move, hardly aware of others around you. Suddenly, he turns and looks directly at you. “What do you want?” Jesus asks. Face to face with Jesus, how do you respond? What do you say when you know your life is about to change?

So begins the journey. Becoming Fire leads you to step away from the world that pulses with immediate information and images and invites you to the age-old practice of listening to stories and engaging your imagination. Through Jeanie Miley’s meditations and reflective questions, you will enter the stories of and be touched by Jesus as he encountered other people. Your relationship with God will be invigorated and deepened by the contemplative and imaginative scripture reading and prayers of Becoming Fire.

      Additional Info
ChristHeart is a book of meditations based on thirty-four (34) events or teachings from the life of Jesus Christ. The reader is invited to enter more fully into the life of the human Jesus and to identify with the feelings and thoughts of Christ as he carried out his earthly ministry.

Designed to facilitate contemplative prayer, the author encourages readers to imagine the responses of Jesus as he dealt with conflict, entered into friendship with the disciples and others, and healed people and taught them about a vital, personal, love relationship with God. The reader can enter into the experiences of Jesus by reading a selected scripture from the Gospels and one of the meditations, and then picturing the scene and identifying with the feelings and thoughts of Jesus in that scene.

At the end of each meditation is a question to encourage reflection and a deepening of one’s own understanding of how the life of Christ intersects with and transforms the reader’s life.

Miley has written seven mediations for each of the thirty-five (35) Gospel stories
