Handbook To Old Testament Exegesis
$45.00Add to cartDesigned for both Hebrew and non-Hebrew students, A Handbook to Old Testament Exegesis offers a fresh, hands-on introduction to exegesis of the Old Testament. William P. Brown begins not with the biblical text itself but with the reader, helping students to identify their own interpretive lenses before engaging the biblical text. Brown guides the student through a wide variety of interpretive approaches, including modern methodologies?feminist, womanist, Latino/a, queer, postcolonial, disability, and ecological approaches?alongside more traditional methods. This allows students to critically reflect on themselves as bona fide interpreters. While covering a wide range of biblical passages, Brown also highlights two common biblical texts throughout the work to help show how each interpretive approach highlights different dimensions of the same texts. Students will appreciate the value of an empathetic inquiry of Scripture that is both inclusive of others and textually in-depth.

Gafney employs a solid understanding of womanist and feminist approaches to biblical interpretation and the sociohistorical culture of the ancient Near East. This unique and imaginative work that is grounded in serious scholarship will expand conversations about feminist and womanist biblical interpretation.

Reversing Hermon : Enoch The Watchers And The Forgotten Mission Of Jesus Ch
$19.95Add to cartReversing Hermon is a groundbreaking work. It unveils what most in the modern Church have never heard regarding how the story of the sin of the Watchers in 1 Enoch 6-16 helped frame the mission of Jesus, the messiah. Jews of the first century expected the messiah to reverse the impact of the Watchers transgression. For Jews of Jesus day, the Watchers were part of the explanation for why the world was so profoundly depraved. The messiah would not just revoke the claim of Satan on human souls and estrangement from God, solving the predicament of the Fall. He would also not only bring the nations back into relationship with the true God by defeating the principalities and powers that governed them. Jews also believed that the messiah would rescue humanity from self-destruction, the catalyst for which was the sin of the Watchers and the influence of what they had taught humankind. The role of Enochs retelling of Genesis 6:1-4 in how New Testament writers wrote of Jesus and the cross has been largely lost to a modern audience. Reversing Hermon rectifies that situation. Topics include: understanding Genesis 6:1-4 and the Sin of the Watchers in Their Original Context; how the ancient Mesopotamian story of the apkallu aligns with Gen 6:1-4, was preserved in 1 Enoch, and sets the stage for the theme of reversing the evil of the Watchers; how the theme of reversing the transgression of the Watchers colors the gospel accounts of the birth of Jesus, his genealogy, and his ministry; how the writings of Peter and Paul allude to the sin of the Watchers and present Jesus as overturning the disastrous effects of their sins against humanity; and how the descriptions of the antichrist, the end-times Day of the Lord, and the final judgment connect to Genesis 6 and the nephilim.

The history of American evangelicalism is perhaps best understood by examining its turning points-those moments when it took on a new scope, challenge, or influence. Taken together, these turning points serve as a clear and helpful roadmap for understanding how evangelicalism has become what it is today.

Since their rise in the midst of the revivals of the eighteenth century, evangelicals have been dedicated to the importance of both spirituality and mission. In recent years, evangelicals have engaged in the missional theology discussion that advocates a more holistic Christian mission grounded in the eternal mission of the triune God. At the same time, evangelicals have also been key participants in the spiritual formation discussion that seeks to recover biblical and classical practices for contemporary spiritual growth. While these two movements have been largely independent of each other, the time is right to join them together into a single conversation for the sake of ongoing evangelical faithfulness. Spirituality for the Sent brings together evangelical scholars from a variety of disciplines and ecclesial traditions to address the relationship between spiritual formation and a missional vision of theology and practice. The contributors share a common vision for a missional spirituality that fosters spiritual maturity while also fueling Christian evangelism, cultural engagement, and the pursuit of justice. Gathering Of Larks
$17.99Add to cartWho was Saint Francis? Today he is most often a sweet ceramic statue in a garden, a sentimentalized romantic figure. But A Gathering of Larks, containing forty personal letters from Abigail Carroll to Francis, reveals him to be a complex man who lived a fascinating life of radical faith.
These letters-part devotion, part historical biography, part contemporary engagement, and part inspiration-reveal Carroll’s curiosity and wonder about Francis. She celebrates his whimsical idealism and impetuousness, explores his spirituality and commitment to poverty, and sometimes even questions him. She also uses Francis as a sounding board for larger questions about the world-and, through her own experience, explores how brokenness makes experiencing redemption possible.
As beautiful as it is insightful, alight with a pilgrim’s growing sense of discovery, A Gathering of Larks has both range and depth that will uplift readers and challenge them to better understand this singular saint and how he might speak to and shape their way of living in today’s world.

Peace With God
$19.99Add to cartBilly Graham shares God’s gentle, reassuring promise of spiritual calm-of authentic personal peace-amidst a personal life wracked with too much stress, too many burdens, too great a heartache. In Peace with God Billy Graham asks God to help this book “find its way into the hands and hearts of a lost, confused, and searching world . . . men, women, and young people everywhere [who] thirst for peace with God.” In spite of a life drenched with responsibilities and rewards, are you thirsting? Searching for some nameless thing that is more important than anything in life? You are not alone. All mankind is seeking the answer to the confusion, the moral sickness, the spiritual emptiness that oppresses the world. All humanity is crying out for guidance, for comfort . . .for peace. Reverend Graham shares God’s gentle, reassuring promise of spiritual calm-of authentic personal peace-amidst a personal life wracked with too much stress, too many burdens, too great a heartache. “I know men who would write a check for a million dollars if they could find peace,” writes Reverend Graham. “Millions are searching for it. But we Christians have found it! It is ours now and forever. We have found the secret of life! . . .When your spouse dies or your children get sick or you lose your job, you can have a peace that you don’t understand. You may have tears at a graveside, but you can have an abiding peace, a quietness. “God’s peace can be in your heart-right now . . .Whatever the circumstances, whatever the call, whatever the duty, whatever the price, whatever the sacrifice-His strength will be your strength in your hour of need. “It’s all yours, and it’s free. You don’t have to work for it . . . . Do not put it off.”

As notorious for her inherited wealth and gentleman’s dress as she is for her unsavory upbringing in the back halls of a vaudeville theater, Wren lives in a world that challenges all manner of conventions. In the months following Houdini’s death, Wren is drawn into a web of mystery surrounding a spiritualist by the name of Horace Stapleton, a man defamed by Houdini’s ardent debunking of fraudulent mystics in the years leading up to his death. But in a public illusion that goes terribly wrong, one man is dead and another stands charged with his murder. Though he’s known as one of her teacher’s greatest critics, Wren must decide to become the one thing she never wanted to be: Stapleton’s defender. Essentials Of Christian Thought
$18.99Add to cartChristians disagree on doctrine, politics, church government, certain moral questions-just about everything under the sun, it can seem. Yet a unity remains, centered around a core outlook on God and the world that is common to all believers. Or at least, such an outlook should unite Christians of all theological and church backgrounds. However, alternate visions of reality often infect and corrupt Christians’ thinking. In The Essence of Christian Thought, eminent theologian and church historian Roger Olson outlines the basic perspective on the world that all Christians, regardless of the place and time in which they are born, have historically held. This underlying metaphysic accords with all orthodox theologies, whether Calvinist or Arminian, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Protestant, but it separates Christianity from other religious and secular perspectives. It is, quite simply, the essential requirement of a Christian view of the world. Bold and incisive, The Essence of Christian Thought will prompt thoughtful readers and students to more consciously appropriate the core of their faith, guarding against ideas that subtly but necessarily invite compromise.

Evangelical. Sacramental. Pentecostal. Christian communities tend to identify with one of these labels over the other two. Evangelical churches emphasize the importance of Scripture and preaching. Sacramental churches emphasize the importance of the eucharistic table. And pentecostal churches emphasize the immediate presence and power of the Holy Spirit. But must we choose between them? Could the church be all three? Drawing on his reading of the New Testament, the witness of Christian history, and years of experience in Christian ministry and leadership, Gordon T. Smith argues that the church not only can be all three, but in fact it must be all three in order to truly be the church. As the church navigates the unique global challenges of pluralism, secularism, and fundamentalism, the need for an integrated vision of the community as evangelical, sacramental, and pentecostal becomes ever more pressing. If Jesus and the apostles saw no tension between these characteristics, why should we? -

The cross is good news for us today. With the expertise of a veteran biblical scholar and the wisdom of a seasoned pastor, Christopher Wright skillfully guides us on Jesus’ journey from the Last Supper to the cross. Through the lens of the Old Testament, Wright navigates the Gospel accounts of events that include the meal in the upper room, Peter’s denials, the taunts and jeers of soldiers and bystanders, and the anguish of crucifixion, inviting us to meditate on their significance for us. Jesus’ death on the cross offers us the forgiveness that Jesus prayed for, and through his resurrection we can know redemption. This is good news! Adapted from sermons Wright preached at All Souls Church in London, these chapters are perfect for personal study and reflection. The book includes an appendix for pastors preparing to teach and preach on these passages, offering insight on sermon preparation as well as helpful commentary. -

Loveable : Embracing What Is Truest About You So You Can Truly Embrace Your
$18.99Add to cartKelly Flanagan is a psychologist, father, and blogger who is best known for the letters he has written to his children on his blog, one of which landed him on the Today Show with his four-year-old daughter. In Loveable, Flanagan answers three fundamental human questions: Am I enough? How do I become unlonely? Do I matter? He shows us how to rediscover our worthiness and remember that we are good enough. He encourages us to shed the false self that keeps us lonely and to find people who accept us as we are. And he inspires us to fully embrace our passions, regardless of how ordinary those passions may be. Reading like an extended love letter to readers, Loveable uncovers three essential truths: you are enough, you are not alone, and you matter. Flanagan invites us to disconnect from the distractions and demands of daily life and to listen more intently for the voice of grace within each of us, so we might fully awaken to the redemptive story we are here to live.

Hidden In Plain View
$15.99Add to cartHidden in Plain View: Undesigned Coincidences in the Gospels and Acts revives an argument for the historical reliability of the New Testament that has been largely neglected for more than a hundred years. An undesigned coincidence is an apparently casual, yet puzzle-like “fit” between two or more texts, and its best explanation is that the authors knew the truth about the events they describe or allude to. Connections of this kind among passages in the Gospels, as well as between Acts and the Pauline epistles, give us reason to believe that these documents came from honest eyewitness sources, people “in the know” about the events they relate. Supported by careful research yet accessibly written, Hidden in Plain View provides solid evidence that all Christians can use to defend the Scriptures and the truth of Christianity.

Welcome Homeless : One Mans Journey Of Discovering The Meaning Of Home
$18.99Add to cartHomeless. No other word better describes our modern-day suffering. It reveals one of our deepest and most painful conditions-not having a sense of belonging. However, Alan Graham, founder of Mobile Loaves & Fishes and Community First! Village, is improving the quality of life for a large quantity of people through sharing his personal story of becoming more human through humanizing others. Graham believes the more we can give people dignity, the power of choice, and genuine community, the better we’ll be able to offer solutions that will have impact on the world at large. And while his missionary work is focused on giving a home to the physically homeless, he also wants to transform the lives of every living person by shifting the paradigm in understanding what it means to be “home.” In Welcome Homeless, Graham delves deep into what it means to be connected to God, the earth, and each other. In doing so, he shows us the home we’ve all longed for but never had. Welcome Homeless is about becoming fully human by being fully present. It is about finally connecting with the disconnected and finding our identity through knowing the true identity of others. Graham wants to engrain the human story in you so deeply that you start being who you were made to be-that you start finally being like the image from which you were made and start empathizing instead of sympathizing with the people around you. Similar to how we can become 100 percent fully human by mimicking the ultimate image, we can shape a better world by mimicking the picture of the new heaven and the new earth-a picture that has reality at the heart of it but is beyond our imagination. Alan Graham also shares his personal story, the stories of the homeless, and the stories of those whose worldviews have been shifted by the homeless. Because of his raw, humorous, and honest voice, he achieves a rare and profound universality. Houses become homes once they embody the stories of the people who have made these spaces into places of significance, meaning, and memory. Home is fundamentally a place of connection and of relationships that are life-giving and foundational. Graham invites you to make everyone feel truly at home by finally inviting those living on the fringes of society into your heart. This is why Welcome Homeless is about doing, not saying. It is about taking the ultimate and forward-thinking vision of a new heaven and new earth and literally breaking the soil so that new earth can exist here to

Questions And Rhetoric In The Greek New Testament
$54.99Add to cartWhile there are almost 1000 questions in the Greek New Testament, many commentators, pastors, and students skip over the questions for more ‘theological’ verses or worse they convert questions into statements to mine them for what they are saying theologically. However, this is not the way questions in the Greek New Testament work, and it overlooks the rhetorical importance of questions and how they were used in the ancient world.
Questions and Rhetoric in the Greek New Testament is a helpful and thorough examination of questions in the Greek New Testament, seen from the standpoint of grammatical, semantic, and linguistic analysis, with special emphasis on their rhetorical effects. It includes charts, tools, and lists that explain and categorize the almost 1000 questions in the Greek New Testament. Thus, the user is able to go to the section in the book dealing with the type of question they are studying and find the exegetical parameters needed to understand that question.
Questions and Rhetoric in the Greek New Testament offers vibrant examples of all the major categories of questions to aid the reader in grasping how questions work in the Greek New Testament. Special emphasis is given to the way questions persuade and influence readers of the Greek New Testament.

Many Christians share the assumption that preaching the word of God is at the heart of God’s plans for the gospel in our age, that it is vital for the church’s health, and that it is the central task of the pastor-teacher. Many helpful books on preaching are available. The vast majority are concerned with ‘how-to’, but relatively few focus primarily on the character and theology of preaching according to Scripture. Two key, interrelated questions need to be addressed. First, is there such a thing as ‘preaching’ that is mandated in the post-apostolic context-and, if there is, how is it defined and characterized? Second, how does post-apostolic ‘preaching’ relate to the preaching of the Old Testament prophets and of Jesus and his apostles? In this New Studies in Biblical Theology volume Jonathan Griffiths seeks answers to these questions in the New Testament. In Part 1 he gives an overview of the theology of the word of God, surveys Greek terms related to preaching, and looks at teaching concerning the scope and character of other word ministries in the life of the church. In Part 2 his exegetical studies concentrate on teaching that relates especially to the post-apostolic context. In Part 3 he summarizes the exegetical findings, sets them within the context of biblical theology, and proposes a number of broader theological implications. Griffiths’s accessible, scholarly investigation will be of value to scholars, pastors, preachers and Bible teachers. Addressing key issues in biblical theology, the works comprising New Studies in Biblical Theology are creative attempts to help Christians better understand their Bibles. The NSBT series is edited by D. A. Carson, aiming to simultaneously instruct and to edify, to interact with current scholarship and to point the way ahead. -
Book Of Enoch
$19.95Add to cartThe Bible, as we hold it today, is esteemed by many religious institutions and especially Conservative Christians to be the inspired, inerrant Word of God. This doctrinal position affirms that the Bible is unlike all other books or collections of works in that it is free of error due to having been given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (2 Tim. 3:16, 17).While no other text can claim this same unique authority, the Book of Enoch is an ancient Jewish religious work, ascribed by tradition to Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah, which played a crucial role in forming the worldview of the authors of the New Testament, who were not only familiar with it but quoted it in the New Testament, Epistle of Jude, Jude 1:1415, and is attributed there to “Enoch the Seventh from Adam” (1 En 60:8). The text was also utilized by the community that originally collected and studied the Dead Sea Scrolls. While some churches today include Enoch as part of the biblical canon (for example the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church), other Christian denominations and scholars accept it only as having historical or theological non-canonical interest and frequently use or assigned it as supplemental materials within academic settings to help students and scholars discover or better understand cultural and historical context of the early Christian Church. The Book of Enoch provides commentators valuable insight into what many ancient Jews and early Christians believed when, God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets (Heb. 1:1). As Dr. Michael S. Heiser in the Introduction to his important book Reversing H

Beauty And The Riches Of Redemption
$15.99Add to cart“The Beauty and the Riches of Redemption” presents to us the drama of humanity from the Garden of Eden – where the curtain opened and the stage was set – to the Garden of Gethsemane – where the curtain was not only drawn, but cut: End of drama. Is Jesus really the only way to God and so, the only hope of salvation? How could Jesus, born of the Jewish people, be the Savior of the whole world? How could the son of Mary, an Israelite woman be said to be the Son of God? Can Jesus really save me and guarantee me entrance/eternity in heaven? In about 180 pages, the author, with the help of the Holy Spirit answers all these questions and explains to us with clarity and simplicity what we need to know from creation to redemption. You need this book…This book clearly brings out the difference between religion and salvation. Jesus came to redeem mankind back to his Creator. Man through sin was cut off from God, but now there is no “salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved…”

Communion Of Saints
$21.00Add to cartThis collection of poems explores the saints of the church’s history and contemporary persons who embody something of their charism. Three sections are arranged around the themes of the three “theological virtues”: faith, portrayed as a source of strength in times of trial; hope, the darkest in the book, dealing with matters of the body’s frailty, illness, social discrimination, and the search for a way to live within the constraints of society; and love, offering a panoply of outward-looking characters who give to others in radical or personal ways. The volume ends with a cycle of Franciscan poems that offer a model for the Christian life, not simply in terms of individual moments but also as a complete life-cycle of practice and prayer.

Deep Calls Unto Deep
$12.99Add to cartWhen Matthew first informed me that he was going to release this book, I was very excited. As a person with somewhat of a prophetic gifting myself, I anticipated what he had to say. And I certainly wasn’t disappointed! These 14 questions are some of the most common concerns that budding and even more experienced prophets have when they begin and as they move forward in their ministry.
An aspiring prophet might go to a meeting, hear the prophet speak and listen to him or her call out words of knowledge and pray for people. They see the “glamor” of the spotlight and think that they want that life and that they can easily do what the prophet does.
What they don’t see is everything that happens behind the scenes–the years of prayer, time in the Word and developing intimacy with Jesus. They don’t see the sacrifices the prophet makes–the self-denial, days of fasting and giving up friendships that don’t promote a godly lifestyle.
This book delves into some of these topics and much more. You, the reader, will love hearing Matthew’s perspective on how to handle some of these sensitive matters as he answers each question in his trademark simple and straightforward manner. I was thrilled to edit this for Matthew and know you will enjoy reading it!
If you have any editing needs, I am happy to help you. You can find out more about me at my website at www.writebylisa.com or email me at writebylisa@gmail.com. Happy reading, and God bless you!

Lost Soul : A Confederate Soldier In New England
$23.99Add to cartSam Postlethwaite was a Confederate soldier buried in an unmarked grave in Rhode Island. Beginning with nothing more than a handful of dirt, author Les Rolston’s innocent curiosity about this mysterious soldier’s grave became a journey of thousands of miles that eventually led him to the soldier’s family. The result is this factual account of Postlethwaite’s odyssey and the author’s determined efforts to learn his story. Other important facets of this affecting historical account are the experiences of Postlethwaite’s fourteen-year-old brother, who found glory with Stonewall Jackson in the Shenandoah Valley; and a boy from a prominent Rhode Island family who was emotionally ruined by the Civil War. Both their families, embittered by war, were destined to merge through a Civil War romance and marriage. This book is a tribute to all of the people, Northerners and Southerners, who joined together to choose forgiveness and understanding over bitterness and hatred.

Think of it this way . . . Our beliefs are challenged from many directions. Every day it seems more difficult to explain to our friends, families, and neighbors what we believe and why. When our ideas and arguments fail to persuade them, what then? Is there another approach we can take? Veteran apologists and communicators J. P. Moreland and Tim Muehlhoff say that the best way to win over others is with a good story. Stories have the ability to get behind our preconceptions and defenses. They appeal to the whole person rather than just to the mind. This expanded edition includes new chapters and updated stories and illustrations throughout. In these pages the authors enhance the logic and evidence found in other books defending the faith with things that your friends, relatives, or coworkers will ponder long after a conversation is over. Here is sound, empathetic coaching for those of us who long to communicate our faith more effectively. -

Jesus And The Holocaust
$21.99Add to cartPoignant meditations occasioned by a unique convergence of commemorative events
On Good Friday, April 14, 1995, Christians remembered the crucifixion of Jesus, Jews reenacted the Passover, and the world at large observed the fiftieth anniversary of the end of World War II and the Holocaust. That unusual juxtaposition formed the backdrop as Joel Marcus-a Jew by birth, a Christian by choice-took the pulpit at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Glasgow, Scotland.
This book presents Marcus’s stirring meditations that day on the relationship between the deaths of six million innocent Jews in the Holocaust and the death of one innocent Jew on the cross. Through reflection on Bible passages in light of stories and poems about the Holocaust, Marcus shows how the hope that Christians have always found hidden in the darkest hour of their liturgical year can shed light on the most tragic moment of our recent history-and vice versa.

Faith Of Christopher Hitchens
$19.99Add to cartA friend of the late Christopher Hitchens offers insight about the promise of faith and the dangers of pride in this one-of-a-kind look into the last days of the world’s most famous atheist–now in paper back. “If everyone in the United States had the same qualities of loyalty and care and concern for others that Larry Taunton had, we’d be living in a much better society than we do.” ~ Christopher Hitchens At the time of his death, Christopher Hitchens was the most notorious atheist in the world. And yet, all was not as it seemed. “Nobody is not a divided self, of course,” he once told an interviewer, “but I think it’s rather strong in my case.” Hitchens was a man of many contradictions: a Marxist in youth who longed for acceptance among the social elites; a peacenik who revered the military; a champion of the Left who was nonetheless pro-life, pro-war-on-terror, and after 9/11 something of a neocon; and while he railed against God on stage, he maintained meaningful-though largely hidden from public view-friendships with evangelical Christians like Francis Collins, Douglas Wilson, and the author Larry Alex Taunton. In The Faith of Christopher Hitchens, Taunton offers a very personal perspective of one of our most interesting and most misunderstood public figures. Writing with genuine compassion and without compromise, Taunton traces Hitchens’s spiritual and intellectual development from his decision as a teenager to reject belief in God to his rise to prominence as one of the so-called “Four Horsemen” of the New Atheism. While Hitchens was, in the minds of many Christians, Public Enemy Number One, away from the lights and the cameras a warm friendship flourished between Hitchens and the author; a friendship that culminated in not one, but two lengthy road trips where, after Hitchens’s diagnosis of esophageal cancer, they studied the Bible together. The Faith of Christopher Hitchens gives us a candid glimpse into the inner life of this intriguing, sometimes maddening, and unexpectedly vulnerable man. “This book should be read by every atheist and theist passionate about the truth.” –Michael Shermer, publisher, Skeptic magazine

Whole Life Worship
$14.99Add to cartThis book is a continuation of the LICC series begun by Neil Hudson’s Imagine ChurchWhole-Life Worship will demonstrate that the contemporary Western Church has reached a point where our “gathered” worship is separated from our “scattered” lives outside of church. This is detrimental to the congregation’s spiritual development and their effectiveness on their “frontlines”. Church worship should be inspired and informed by our everyday experiences. It should empower and send the congregation out to continue worshipping. The book will provide patterns and resources to better connect gathered worship with the lives of the congregation beyond church meetings. The book will unpack a biblical grounding for both gathered and scattered worship. It will then identify patterns within our gathered services which help us re-make these connections. It will provide practical resources such as songs, prayers and activities which can help churches connect Sunday to the rest of the week. It will draw examples and stories from other church streams and traditions, to demonstrate how different kinds of Christian spirituality engage worshipfully with everyday life. In the second half of the book is a practical resource looking specifically at different aspects of a gathered service, and how each one can have an “outward” dimension.

Witness Of Religion In An Age Of Fear
$19.00Add to cartWe live in a world driven by fear. But should we allow fear to play such a large role in our lives? According to the religions of the world, the answer is no.
In this helpful and illuminating book, Michael Kinnamon challenges readers to consider why we find ourselves in this age of fear and what we can do about it. Drawing on support from a diversity of religious traditions and teachers, Kinnamon argues that religious faith is the best way to combat a culture of fear. He explores fear in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the American political scene, and he shares courageous examples of individuals from different religions working for peace.
Perfect for individuals or group study, this book helps readers understand the manipulative power of fear and how religious beliefs call us to reject fear at all costs. A study guide is included.

Mission, missions, missional, and all its linguistic variations are part of the expanding vocabulary and rhetoric of the contemporary Christian missionary enterprise. Its language and assumptions are deeply ingrained in the thought and speech of the church today. Christianity is a missionary religion and faithful churches are mission-minded. What’s more, in telling the story of apostles and bishops and monks as missionaries, we think we have grasped the true thread of Christian history. But what about those odd shapes, those unsettling gaps and creases in the historical record? Is the language of mission so clearly evident across the broad reaches of time? Is the trajectory of mission really so explicit from the early church to the present? Or has the modern missionary enterprise distorted our view of the past? As with every reigning paradigm, there comes a point when enough questions surface to beg for a close and critical look, even when it may seem transgressive to do so. In this study of the language of mission-its origin, development, and application-Michael Stroope investigates how the modern church has come to understand, speak of, and engage in the global expansion of Christianity. There is both surprise and hope in this tale. And perhaps the beginnings of a new conversation. -

Effective ministry begins here. You’ve studied what you think you need to know before entering a career in ministry. Is there anything that is more important than knowing about hermeneutics, homiletics, theology, exegesis, and everything else you have likely learned in seminary and church ministry so far? Yes, there is. How well do you know yourself? You need to build your ministry career on the right foundation of an objective understanding of self. If you don’t comprehend your strengths and weaknesses, then you won’t be fully prepared to enter the crucible of ministry. Serving as a pastor is one of the toughest calls there is. But it can also be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding, especially if you have taken the time to examine both your gifts and vulnerabilities. The church needs leaders who have the clear-eyed courage to pursue the hardest part of the ministry journey: seeing yourself. The Self-Aware Leader will help you to do just that. -

Culture is not a territory to be won or lost but a resource we are called to steward with care. Culture is a garden to be cultivated. Many bemoan the decay of culture. But we all have a responsibility to care for culture, to nurture it in ways that help people thrive. In Culture Care artist Makoto Fujimura issues a call to cultural stewardship, in which we become generative and feed our culture’s soul with beauty, creativity, and generosity. We serve others as cultural custodians of the future. This is a book for artists, but artists come in many forms. Anyone with a calling to create-from visual artists, musicians, writers, and actors to entrepreneurs, pastors, and business professionals-will resonate with its message. This book is for anyone with a desire or an artistic gift to reach across boundaries with understanding, reconciliation, and healing. It is a book for anyone with a passion for the arts, for supporters of the arts, and for “creative catalysts” who understand how much the culture we all share affects human thriving today and shapes the generations to come. Culture Care includes a study guide for individual reflection or group discussion. -
No Limits : Blow The Cap Off Your Capacity (Large Type)
$41.00Add to cartWe often treat the word capacity as if it were a natural law of limitation. Unfortunately, most of us are much more comfortable defining what we perceive as off limits rather than what’s really possible. Could it be that many of us have failed to expand our potential because we have allowed what we perceive as capacity to define us? What if our limits are not really our limits?
In his newest book, John Maxwell identifies 17 core capacities. Some of these are abilities we all already possess, such as energy, creativity and leadership. Others are aspects of our lives controlled by our choices, like our attitudes, character, and intentionality. Maxwell examines each of these capacities, and provides clear and actionable advice on how you can increase your potential in each. He will guide you on how to identify, grow, and apply your critical capacities. Once you’ve blown the “cap” off your capacities, you’ll find yourself more successful–and fulfilled–in your daily life.

Sound Of A Million Dreams
$20.99Add to cart20 Chapters
Additional Info
What does a dream sound like? “The first time the sound of a dream slammed, hard, in the center of my spirit, was almost a decade ago. It’s the sound that has led me on the journey whose threads are pulled through this book, an intimate journey that I’ve often struggled to comprehend; it’s been unlike anything else I’ve ever known. It happened in a coffee shop during my thirtieth year, and in less than two hours it would cause me to listen to my life anew.” In these pages writer and speaker Suanne Camfield writes of the varied dreams that she has pursued over the course of her life. With captivating and eloquent stories and concepts, she guides us through what it feels like to have a stirring deep inside of us-and how God guides and shapes us through that sense of calling. This is not a book primarily about vocation or even discernment. It is a book about being a dreamer who is shaped by God. It is about having the wisdom and courage to step into the places of our most vulnerable longing. -
And Still She Laughs
$19.99Add to cartKate Merrick examines the Bible’s gritty stories of resilient women as well as her own experience losing a child-a journey followed by more than a million on prayfordaisy.com-to reveal the reality of surprising joy and deep hope even in the midst of heartache. Kate Merrick faced the crippling grief that life can bring when her five-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Three and a half years of suffering followed, accompanied by fervent prayer, hospital stays, emotional agony, and teeth-grinding fear. And in the end, her baby girl was gone. How was Kate to believe again, to hope again?
To find out, she turned to stories in the Bible of real women who dealt with pain and survived. How did Sarah, after twenty-five years of achingly empty arms, learn in the end to laugh without bitterness? How did Bathsheba, defiled by the king who then had her husband killed, come to walk in strength and dignity, to smile without fear of the future? In And Still She Laughs, Merrick writes poignantly and transparently about finding joy in sorrow and shows how we-just like the ordinary women seen in the Bible-can rise above unbearable circumstances and live fully. In the middle of whatever hardships we face, we can smile, cry, and come away full-laughing without fear and eagerly looking for what is to come.

Disruption : Repurposing The Church To Redeem The Community
$19.99Add to cartWell-meaning church leaders and planters often set out to radically transform their communities for Christ-kingdom causes. Their aspirations and visions are limitless. However, often the best-laid plans fail to yield results of any consequence-they become frustrated, and pull the plug leaving behind the remnants of all their best intentions. Does it have to be this way? Is it possible for a local church to become so influential in its community that it becomes a life-giving agent for believers and non-believers? A resource that becomes the catalyst whereby abandoned buildings are repurposed, small businesses attracted, jobs created, crime reduced, justice progressed, health improved, and ultimately, the kingdom of God advanced in such a way that it impacts the every corner of the community? In Disruption: Repurposing the Church to Redeem the Community, Dr. Mark DeYmaz explains why such an outlook it not only possible but essential for the church to gain credibility and relevance in the community it seeks to influence. Genuine transformation never occurs through maintaining the status quo. A Disruption is often the missing ingredient that moves the church from ineffective to radically transformative.

Beads Of Healing
$14.99Add to cartThe first step in healing from trauma begins with telling one’s story. Many people are afraid to tell the story of their trauma; they may feel they can’t even share their story with God. Survivors often carry deep spiritual wounds–thinking the trauma was God’s punishment or that God abandoned them. They may wonder how they can ever trust a God who allowed something so awful to happen. Kristen Vincent shares her personal story of childhood trauma and how Protestant prayer beads helped her find spiritual and emotional healing. In sharing her own story, she models how to name feelings of grief, shame, and anger and engage in honest conversations with God. Once trauma survivors have named their feelings and learned to talk frankly with God, they can begin to hear God’s words of healing and love. Beads of Healing offers practical ways for readers to use prayer beads to enter conversations with God, stay focused when their minds begin to wander, and sense God’s presence.

Dangerous Prayer : Discovering A Missional Spirituality In The Lord’s Praye
$24.99Add to cartDangerous Prayer offers a strategy for fostering prayer and spirituality in mission that focuses on neighbourhood transformation and global needs using the Lord’s Prayer as a radical blueprint.
Sustainability in mission is not possible without prayer; vibrancy in prayer is not possible without mission. Christians on mission need a vibrant life of prayer in order to be effective yet to have a vibrant prayer life they need an outlet in mission.
The Lord’s Prayer offers a radical inspirational framework to help move Christians beyond praying just for themselves and to have their imaginations captured by the mission of God and concern for global needs. Jesus’ words guide us to pray for God’s Kingdom on earth, for restoration, for food for all who are hungry, for people to experience forgiveness and all that really is good news about Jesus. It is a dangerous prayer because of its counter-cultural and radical stance, and because it invites us to be, in part, the answer to our prayers.
This book offers inspiring and practical approaches for unleashing the whole people of God for missional prayer and prayerful mission.

Hell Bent Heaven Bound

A nervous breakdown that led to her breakthrough revived Shawnta s faith and stirred up the gifts God had planted in her long ago. Propelled by that faith, she watched as God opened door after door for her to walk through. Following her heart-cry, she eventually founded an organization called Nurturing Hearts for at-risk girls ages ten to eighteen. In Hell Bent, Heaven Bound, she reminds us all that God uses the things we like least about ourselves and breathes purpose into them.

Essential Celtic Prayers

The early Celts lived in a time and place where nature was ever-present — in the seasonal harvest and disruptions of it, in the sometimes brutal climate, and in all the gifts from the earth. In their simple rural life, they were surrounded by the cycles of nature: the seasons, lunar months, tides, dawn and dusk. Even in ordinary tasks — gardening, metalworking, sheep herding, and farm chores — they felt God’s sacred presence all around in the natural world . United States Of America Government Religion Christianity Law Illegalities
$49.95Add to cartEvery concerned citizen will enjoy and be very encouraged by the good and accurate historical records of the United States of America. Lies have infiltrated so vastly and so deeply into the society that even the educational institutions have become deceived and warped, so that the students are then receiving passed-down versions that are, as said, lies.
Some folk are deceived innocently, some willingly; some know it and want it. Many folk are so busy with all the cares of life that they passively accept it. A false peace has set in, and yet it is not peace as we are so alertly observing. Values of the heart need care, as to whether they are right values, and those values are then displayed by posts of the government. Every citizen needs to know what the true historical experience and record is, what governmental structure was established in the USA, what it is all about, and how it really is and operates. Because we are all interested in the spiritual activity of life, then we will be so inspired therein. This is a very different and correct account of the real USA Government, its history, and its establishment. -
Charismatic Movement And Gifts Of The Spirit Under A Microscope
$11.95Add to cartThere have been many books written on this topic, but this book is sure to be different than any you have read before. All who have read the manuscript said they gained new insights into these spiritualities. The author takes a look at the modern charismatic movement from its start at Azusa Street and follows it to what it has grown into today. His point is that, to be a truth seeker, you can’t be afraid to take these issues head-on. He discusses the baptism in the Holy Spirit, a totally different view on gifts, true biblical empowerment (strength through weakness, the Paul model), and thirty-three things we receive the instant we become Christians. The last and hardest chapter to write was the topic of the modern-day tongues movement. Is it biblical? Is there a real and a counterfeit? and how can it be tested based on the Bible?

Acting For Others
$49.00Add to cartThis book explores why the metaphor of the church as a family is insufficient. In this, Arendt’s concept of action and her criticism of privatizing the public political space by viewing it as a family are engaged through Bonhoeffer’s ecclesiology and political theology and Staniloae’s triadology and theology of the world. The roots of the different views of Arendt and Bonhoeffer on family symbolism are traced to their distinct notions of acting. Human action becomes the central theme of the debate-particularly influenced by the Eastern Orthodox ecumenist Staniloae and his vision of the communal relationship and interactivity of human subjects, and their place in the world. Synthesizing Bonhoeffer and Staniloae, Christian calling is unfolded not only as acting for others, but also with others as Trinitarian participatory response-response to the words and deeds of the three divine Persons acting in communion. In being drawn into these unique relations, human beings are empowered for communal and common acting of equals participating in public-political issues. Since the family metaphor fails to articulate such acting, this study complements this symbolism with the metaphor of the church as a political community of solidarity.

Deep Calls Unto Deep
$18.99Add to cartWhen Matthew first informed me that he was going to release this book, I was very excited.

Bible True Relevant Or A Fairy Tale
$23.99Add to cartThe Bible is constantly condemned as outdated, legalistic and irrelevant, yet it’s widely owned and cherished worldwide. Despite ownership it often lies unread and scarcely believed, even by Christians. The reason – it’s not accepted as the infallible word of God, but worse many reject it as fictitious and immaterial.
This book directly addresses the truth and relevance of the Bible and questions issues such as:
– Was there really a talking snake in the Garden of Eden?
– How could Moses possibly write a factual account of creation 2,500 years after the event?
– Are abortion and homosexuality ok?
– Are Heaven and Hell real places?
– Are God and Allah the same God?
– What is the Trinity?
Robert skilfully demonstrates the answers through direct scripture quotation with little writer’s bias.
Paul tells Timothy; “all scripture is God breathed” and in Genesis we read; “God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” If the followers of Jesus inhale the God breathed scriptures their souls will truly abound with life. This book sets out to inspire Christians to believe God at his word.
