Lead Like A Shepherd
$19.99Add to cartPastor, author, and leadership consultant unpacks instruction for church leaders found in 1 Peter 5:1-4 where they are exhorted to shepherd the flock among them.
Some instruction is timeless. Regardless of the age in which we live, certain instruction carries no expiration on its relevance. Pastor, author, and leadership consultant, Larry Osborne has discovered this to be the case with instruction on how to be a good leader. The best, most practical advice comes from the Bible, and in particular, 1 Peter 5:1-4. It’s in this short passage where leaders are exhorted to shepherd the flock among them.
Unfortunately, most modern leaders have precious little experience tending sheep, and many of the implications that were well understood when Peter penned these words are lost on today’s reader. Osborne finds the parallels to be numerous, well-worth reviewing and understanding anew.
A shepherd leads them to water even when they fear it. A shepherd never allows one sick lamb to destroy the flock. A shepherd lays down his life for his sheep . . .
When leaders truly understand Peter’s words of exhortation to lead like a shepherd, then they will begin to see the path that leads them to Leading Well.

With his military days behind him, Nicholas Stockton returns home to England and expects to take his place in the family business-a textile mill in Ambledale. But when his grandfather dies suddenly and leaves the struggling mill entirely in his care, Nicholas is confronted with the monumental task of righting his grandfather’s wrongs, especially when it comes to the manner in which the mill workers have been treated.

Nicholas, too, has been warned that the Hathaways are a dangerous family, but after witnessing Kate’s kindness, his opinion changes.

Everybody Always Study Guide (Student/Study Guide)
$12.99Add to cartAs followers of Christ, there is question we need to be asking ourselves every day: How do we prove who we are? This doesn’t refer to what our driver’s licenses say we are, or what our careers suggest about who we are, or who other people tell us we are. Rather, this refers to what Jesus said we should be-and he said that his followers would be identified simply by how they loved people. Love isn’t something we just haphazardly fall into; it is someone we become. Jesus wants us to love everybody, always.
In this five-session video study (DVD/digital downloads sold separately), bestselling author Bob Goff shares some of the stories from his life that have helped him understand what it truly means to love everybody the way Jesus loved them-without fear, insecurity, or restriction. This begins by loving people right where you are through serving and helping the neighbors God has placed into your world. It means loving people when they mess up and helping them move past the place of shame to acceptance. It continues by being courageous and following where God leads one step at a time-even if you feel you are flying blind. Above all, it means not just agreeing with Jesus but actually stepping out and doing what Jesus said.
Following Christ means more than just putting a toe in the water when it comes to loving others. It means grabbing your knees and doing a cannonball! And, as Jesus revealed, it means loving the difficult ones. Everybody, Always, will provide practical steps to help you take that journey.
Sessions include:
*Love People Where You Are
*Catch People on the Bounce
*Don’t Play It Safe
*Do More Stuff
*Love Even the Difficult PeopleDesigned for use with the Everybody, Always Video Study (sold separately).

But Nero is determined to rid Rome of Christians.
Paul has survived so much–floggings, shipwreck, starvation, stoning, hunger and thirst, cold and exposure–yet as he waits for his appointment with death, he is haunted by the shadows of his past. He wonders if he has been forgotten . . . and if he has the strength to finish well.

Reaching For Wonder
$12.75Add to cartSometimes life hurts. Sometimes you’ve struggled, and stumbled, until it even hurts to hope. Perhaps you’ve faced a spiritual crisis of disappointment, doubt, or a feeling of distance from God due to unanswered prayers and painful circumstances. But what does it mean to encounter Christ in those times? What does he say to us when we have nothing left to say? How do we see him when pain has silenced our prayers and blinded our souls? In Reaching for Wonder, Marlo Schalesky explores fifteen of the New Testament’s one-time encounters with Christ to illuminate the surprising character of a God who transforms our pain into wonder. Because sometimes life isn’t at all as we want it to be… Because we lose the wonder in the hardships of life … Because encountering Christ changes everything… Like those who have gone before, following God’s call isn’t about easy faith, a life of effortlessness, or every prayer answered when and how we want. Instead, it’s about encountering God so deeply, so significantly, that everything about your circumstances, about your life, about you, changes because of God. In these New Testament stories you’ll find guidance to a deeper understanding of God’s plan for you, a more vibrant faith, and a fuller trust in God. Plus you’ll find hope in knowing that your life may not be as you had envisioned it, but is one in which God is doing a mighty work.

Strange Kingdom : Meditations On The Cross To Transform Your Day To Day Lif
$16.99Add to cartExperience how the power of the cross unleashes meaning and purpose in the midst of your daily life.
This meditative and spiritual reflection by Ken Costa considers the cross and the king who died upon it. Christ’s work on the cross established a kingdom that is strange indeed, if a king died on the cross in order to establish it. It is a kingdom where suffering and abandonment are transformed into the power of presence and live, a kingdom where a King exchanges gifts of great value for worthless dross, where a robber becomes righteous, and a criminal becomes the first citizen of heaven. Spend some time as Easter draws near considering the strange, upside-down kingdom, where broken things are made whole.

Miracle In Shreveport
$19.99Add to cartWhere the Dreamers Still Play
Today it sits empty and abandoned, infested by bats and invaded by weeds, just a shell and a memory of the dreams, the energy, and the drama it used to hold. For 25 years, Fair Grounds Field in Shreveport, Louisiana, hosted some of the best of professional baseball around. That is, minor league baseball. Hot, sticky summer nights. Hot dogs, nachos, and popcorn. Glowing lights. Crazy entertainment between innings. Country music and the 7th inning stretch. And players fueled by the hope of making it to the big leagues, or filled with fear, clinging to one last shot at the dream that had driven them for years.
As kids, twins David and Jason Benham would get awakened by their father as they drove past Fair Grounds Field in Shreveport, LA late at night. “Take a good look, boys. Someday, you’re going to play there. Someday, you’re going to take that field and hear the roar of the crowd. This is a special place and it’s going to happen. Don’t ever forget it.”
Minor league baseball is indeed a world unto itself. From the Biscuits of Montgomery and the Flying Squirrels of Richmond, to the Muck Dogs of Batavia and the Chihuahuas of El Paso, minor league teams are as diverse and colorful as the cities in which they reside.
And there used to be a ballpark Where the field was warm and green. And the people played their crazy game With a joy I’d never seen.
Frank Sinatra, “There Used to Be a Ballpark”
And that, at its root, is what minor league baseball is all about. Take away the stadiums, the fans, the nicknames, the lousy food, the long bus rides, and the often horrendous performances of the national anthem and you’re left with about 6,000 men – some still teenagers, some pushing 40 – all chasing their childhood dream.
That’s what Fair Grounds Field in Shreveport, Louisiana represented for the Benhams – joy and a dream. That dream brought them to the pinnacle of success and the lessons of failure, both in professional baseball and in a multi-million dollar business. But it was a certain childhood dream and an eventual experience in a beat-up stadium in Shreveport, LA that could only be described as a miracle. This is their story.

Determined To Believe
$24.99Add to cartDetermined to Believe is written for those who are interested in or even troubled by questions about God’s sovereignty and human freedom and responsibility. John Lennox writes in the spirit of helping people to come to grips with the biblical treatment of this issue for themselves. In this comprehensive review of the topic of theological determinism, Lennox seeks firstly to define the problem, looking at the concepts of freedom, the different kinds of determinism, and the moral problems these pose. He then equips the reader with biblical teaching on the topic and explores the spectrum of theological opinion on it.
Following this, Lennox delves deeper into the Gospels and then investigates what we can learn regarding determinism and responsibility from Paul’s discussion in Romans on God’s dealings with Israel. Finally Lennox tackles the issue of Christian assurance. This nuanced and detailed study challenges some of the widely held assumptions in the area of theological determinism and brings a fresh perspective to the debate. -
Loving God : The Cost Of Being A Christian
$19.99Add to cartJesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” But how many of us know what this looks like in daily life? Does loving God mean going to church, tithing, having regular prayer times? Is it a feeling in our hearts?
A few years after Chuck Colson became a Christian, he realized that the more he learned about God’s love for him, the more he wanted to know how to love God. This book is the masterpiece Colson wrote after searching Scripture, history, and his own difficult experiences to answer his deepest question. He discovered that loving God is obeying God–rarely easy, sometimes inconvenient, often painful, and entirely satisfying. When we love God, we know the pleasure of living out our true calling.
Billy Graham considers Loving God “one of the most spiritually satisfying books I have ever read.” Joni Eareckson Tada refers to it as “the complete volume on Christian living.” With fascinating stories and engaging theological insights, Loving God has been bringing people closer to Jesus for over thirty years. In this hour of opportunity for the church and for our own spiritual lives, Loving God will inspire you to love God with your whole being. It’s what you were created to do.

Many Christians have been brought up under the assumption that mainstream science is incompatible with genuine Christian faith-so when they see compelling evidence for biological evolution, for example, they feel forced to choose between science and their faith. The devastating effects of this dilemma are plain to see, as emerging adults either leave the faith or shut themselves off to the findings of the scientific community. But it’s a false dilemma. In this book, Greg Cootsona argues against the idea that science and faith are inherently antagonistic. We don’t have to keep them scrupulously separated-instead, we can bring them into dialogue with one another. Cootsona brings this integration to a number of current topics in science and faith conversations, including hermeneutics, the historical Adam and Eve, cognitive science, and the future of technology. His insights are enhanced by his work with Fuller Seminary’s STEAM research project.
Emerging adults want to believe that science and faith can coexist peacefully. Mere Science and Christian Faith holds out a vision for how that integration is possible and how it can lead us more deeply into the conversations around science and faith that confront the church today.

For faithful Episcopalians, it has become essential to learn how to “tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love.” This is especially important for those generations born after the Baby Boom, which are experiencing the rapid rise of the “nones”–people who have lost their faith, or who have no faith at all. The time to speak, to share our faith, is now. Kit Carlson offers a road map for those who want to learn to speak about the faith that lives within them.
Speaking Our Faith will help them put words to their own experiences of God, create their own statements of belief, and to begin to have compassionate, caring conversations with other people about spirituality, belief, and Jesus Christ. -
Our One Word
$23.95Add to cartWomen live uniquely demanding lives as providers, managers, caretakers, and, amidst those many roles, both chosen and cast upon them, the individual spirit sometimes loses her voice. To awaken this voice, Martha Bourlakas began a group for women in the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia called “Our One Word” to pray about and observe the secular, holy, and personal significance of one word each week. This simple goal affects participants in profound ways, and now Bourlakas shares their practice with the rest of us in book form. She provides a structure and resource for those who want to start a group, as well as meditation for anyone who wants to expand her or his own spiritual horizons. The book encompasses words Bourlakas has offered to groups in the weekly format and at weekend retreats. Each chapter focuses on a different word, such as Joy, Heart, Change. There are brief quotations from religious texts, literature, music, etc. that explicate the word, combined with her own perspective. Our One Word offers a way for individuals or groups to cultivate a hospitable, constant presence, modeling the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives–a way to celebrate, pray, just be.

Short Stories By Jesus Leader Guide (Teacher’s Guide)
$14.99Add to cartJesus was a skilled storyteller and perceptive teacher who used parables from everyday life to effectively convey his message and meaning. Life in first-century Palestine was very different from our world today, and many traditional interpretations of Jesus’ stories ignore this disparity and have often allowed anti-Semitism and misogyny to color their perspectives. In this Bible study based on her book Short Stories by Jesus, Amy-Jill Levine analyzes these “problems with parables” taking readers back in time to understand how their original Jewish audience understood them. With this revitalized understanding, she interprets these moving stories for the contemporary reader, showing how the parables are not just about Jesus, but are also about us-and when read rightly, still challenge and provoke us two thousand years later. The Leader Guide contains everything needed to guide a group through the six-week study including session plans, activities, and discussion questions, as well as multiple format options.

Dogmatics After Babel
$45.00Add to cartRuben Rosario Rodriguez addresses the long-standing division between Christian theologies that take revelation as their starting point and focus and those that take human culture as theirs. After introducing these two theological streams that originate with Karl Barth and Paul Tillich, respectively, Rosario asserts that they both seek to respond to the Enlightenment’s critique and rejection of Christianity. In so doing, they have bought into Enlightenment understandings of human reality and the transcendent. Rosario argues that in order to get beyond the impasse between theologies of the Word and culture, we need a different starting point. He discovers that starting point in two sources: (1) through the work of liberation and contextual theologians on the role of the Holy Spirit, and (2) through a comparative analysis of the teachings on the hiddenness of God from the three “Abrahamic” religions -Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Rosario offers a strong argument for why this third theological starting point represents not just a marginal or niche position but a genuine alternative to the two traditional theological streams. His work will shift readers’ understanding of the options in theological discourse beyond the false alternatives of theologies of the Word and culture.

Melodies Of A New Monasticism
$68.00Add to cartThe New Monastic Movement is a vibrant source of renewal for the church’s life and mission. Many involved in this movement have quoted Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s conviction that the church must recover ancient spiritual disciplines if it is to effectively engage “”the powers that be.”” Melodies of a New Monasticism adopts a musical metaphor of polyphony (the combination of two or more lines of music) to articulate the way that these early Christian virtues can be woven together in community. Creatively using this imagery, this book draws on the theological vision of Bonhoeffer and the contemporary witness of George MacLeod and the Iona Community to explore the interplay between discipleship, doctrine, and ethics. A recurring theme is the idea of Christ as the cantus firmus (the fixed song) around which people perform the diverse harmonies of God in church and world, including worship, ecumenism, healing, peace, justice, and ecology.

This recovery is benched on salvation and its revelation. One might be saved and still be under yokes except the salvation comes with divine revelation. The light of revelation is what drives the warfare to recover the inheritance. The inheritance is bulky, and a stock-in-trade and only those who have access to the grace of salvation can enjoy same. It is available to anyone who chooses to purchase same. The currency is a capsule of salvation, knowledge and the inheritance passion or claim-drive. The knowledge and the revelation you have through the book “The Reward of the Inheritance” is the propulsion to declare your victory through the prayer actions in this handbook.
“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint,” Luke 18: 1 (KJV).
Prayer is hard work, and it requires energy. The revelation the word provides should be a bolster for the claim of the inheritance. This drive produces no result except it is converted in praying for the inheritance. This prayer manual details the prayer demands, though not exhausted, for a chase and recapture of the life of the inheritance as the benefits that fall with the knowledge if the prayers are said as pushed by the Holy Spirit. The experience of the Holy Spirit cannot come to bear on any desirer of the inheritance except that one is saved. Praying is a reliable weapon for the takeover of the lost legacy.

Full Worm Moon
$19.00Add to cartLike The Old Farmer’s Almanac chronicles the cycles of sun, moon, stars, and planets, Full Worm Moon explores the profound transitions from promise to loss, depicting one woman’s endeavor to “”move into a third space / hospitable for another life / more rare, more raw.”” In particular, Julie L. Moore tracks the phases of a long marriage’s brutal disintegration, a year as turbulent as the wind that uproots a birch tree, leaving it “”prostrate on the ground / like one spouse pleading / with the other not to leave.”” Every month’s full moon weaves through seasons of vicissitude, creating a new vocabulary for solitude without loneliness and endurance without passivity. As they delve into divorce’s myriad aftershocks, Moore’s poems remain intelligent and intimate; amid their stunning landscapes emerge both beauty and violence as well as a host of memorable characters: Milton and Monet, Charon and Cicero, Benedictine monks and Cooper’s Hawks, clueless administrators and clever students, an oblivious weatherman and a philosophical neighbor. All are welcome, and in her lyrical, trustworthy voice, Moore guides us, with our “”longing / for answered prayer,”” to press on and “”practice . . . / anything but resignation.

Beatitudes Not Platitudes
$39.00Add to cartBeatitudes, Not Platitudes shows that the Beatitudes are not overused, well-worn answers to the question, “”What would Jesus do?”” Rather, they are undervalued and hardly touched claims that transform our destinies. More than spiritual nuggets for personal devotion, practical advice, or propositions to be believed, the Beatitudes in Matthew 5 envision and entail a reorientation of the good life in view of Jesus’ kingdom. Jesus’ teachings reveal to us that living our best purpose-driven life now involves dying to self and the world system, and dying for our enemies. Ideal for group study, this series of meditations on each of the Beatitudes, followed by cultural reflections and study questions, helps to bridge the gaps between personal devotion and societal revolution, the academic and the practical, the ancient and the contemporary. All of us want to be happy, to be well and blessed, and esteemed with honor. However, we look for happiness, wellness, blessing, and honor in different places and with mixed results. This book helps us reimagine the good life by taking a fresh look at the Beatitudes as citizens of Jesus’ ever-new kingdom order.

Baur provides critical analyses of the philosophers and theologians of the nineteenth century (Herder, Schiller, Goethe, Kant, Fichte, Schelling, Jacobi, Schleiermacher, Marheineke, Neander, Mohler, Hegel, Strauss, Feuerbach, and many others), as well as details about European Catholic and Protestant church history from 1800 to 1860. What he produces is a “”participant history,”” written by a scholar very much engaged in the issues of his time. Ferdinand Christian Baur was a professor of theology at the University of Tubingen from 1826 to 1860. He is known for his path-breaking studies in New Testament literature and historical theology. Recent translations of his work by Brown and Hodgson include History of Christian Dogma and Lectures on New Testament Theology.

Extreme Walking : Extrabiblical Books And The Bible
$42.00Add to cartTreat yourself to a bold adventure through the Bible. You will start off in familiar territory, but will soon find yourself exploring ancient texts from the time of Jesus and beyond. These new viewpoints will bring different answers than you may be used to hearing and reading. It will take courage to start such an extreme walk, but once you get out there, nothing can beat the view. Extreme Walking is an advanced course in Bible reading. Through a series of topics that will shed new light on well-known passages in the canon, the reader is taken on an enriching voyage of discovery, where they will always remain just a step away from the safe, well-worn paths of understanding. Why does the Bible talk about “”heavens”” rather than “”heaven””? What kind of Messiah were the Jews really expecting? Who is this Melchizedek guy? Extreme Walking will help you tackle these questions and more. “”In a delightful series of walks through key New Testament themes–like heaven or Messiah or Satan–Tom de Bruin proves to be a highly informed and affable pathfinder. This book is a treasure because it offers, in a wonderful and whimsical way, insight into the New Testament by leading us back to the Jewish air the earliest Christians breathed. That air is never stuffy; it’s fresh and funny and full of fascinating information–making this book perfect for any curious reader, Christian or not, who wants to know the truth about how Christianity came to be.

Faith In A Pluralist Age
$22.00Add to cartMost academics agree with Peter Berger that pluralism theory appears more accurate than secularization theory in accounting for the societal changes that accompany modernization. Yet Berger’s earlier book Many Altars of Modernity gives limited attention to the implications of the pluralist paradigm for religious discourse, in particular for evangelicals. According to Berger–who wrote the first chapter in this book–while pluralism leads to less certainty about faith and creates “”secular spaces,”” it also, more positively, clarifies the importance of trust in God, highlights the nature of religious institutions as voluntary associations rather than birth rights, and challenges Christians to know what they believe in. Subsequent chapters respond to the first. Four responses are theoretical (e.g., challenging the concept of secular spaces, exploring social constructionism) and four are contextual (e.g., describing anti-pluralist forces in India, challenging feminists to pluralism, examining women’s responses to pluralism, and exploring values in Brazil and China). The ideas are easily accessible to the lay reader and are intended to initiate a much-needed conversation about the implications of pluralist theory. We conclude that pluralism is challenging for Christian faith but, as Peter Berger says, in most ways it is “”good for you.””

Does God Always Get What God Wants
$46.00Add to cartTim’s wife, Anne, died of breast cancer at the age of forty-nine, having battled against the disease for more than six years. Her suffering had a profound influence on their lives and that of their church, and raised challenging questions: – If “”God is in control,”” does that mean God is to blame for suffering? – Why did God not heal Anne? – Is Anne’s death what God wanted to happen? – Does prayer make any difference? – What is God doing about evil? People’s experience of suffering causes them to examine the kind of God they believe in, the nature of the universe God made, and God’s activity in the world. This book explores all three aspects and responds constructively to the complex issues that the above questions pose–and provides powerful reasons for confidence in the firm Christian hope.

Developing A Kingdom Mind Set
$11.95Add to cartIn the natural world, the process of appropriating a place for ones own use involves planning, organization, and strategies for implementation. Getting to know the people, language, and culture is a valuable asset for effective communication. Possibly the greatest need in succeeding is the provision of a leader to act or speak on behalf of the new government. A person who is knowledgeable of the government and loyal to its king would be an ideal candidate. The key here seems to be an acknowledgment of and commitment to the process.
We first see the process of colonization as Gods choice to make earth an extension of heaventhe place created for Him. God is a spirit, and therefore, we understand that He lives in a spiritual place. It is invisible. The extension, however, is visible. It is a garden given to His creation, humankind, with instructions.
There is evidence that socialization, education, empowerment, and complementary relationships are parts of the preparation process of those who are made representatives of heavens government. Gods design for teaching humankind to think like He thinks is the perfect blue-print.
It seems that as believers, children of God, and kingdom citizens, we have not completed the process. We must move from being believers to kingdom representatives. We must learn to think like our King, which will be reflected in our behavior. Having developed a kingdom mind-set, we must then help other believers experience the process.

Big Girls Do Cry
$17.99Add to cartMillions of people in the US have left the Church because of Church Hurt. This problem is at epidemic proportions, yet very few Church leaders are trying to find a cure for this epidemic.
Big Girls Do Cry tells the story of the deep Church hurt and the healing process of the author and proposes one possible cure for this epidemic: rebuild the Church on a complete foundation based on love.
When asked, most people will say that Jesus is the full foundation of the Church. That sounds very Biblical, but it is not. Jesus is the Cornerstone of the Church, not the full foundation. Without a full foundation, the Church will collapse and hurt the people within its walls. This book examines what the rest of the Biblical foundation of the Church should be and gives some very practical ways to rebuild those foundations, so fewer people get hurt in the Church

Crisis Of Conscience 5th Edition
$37.99Add to cartNulife Press
Crisis of Conscience presents the story of a struggle to prevent the erosion of a God-given freedom of conscience and the ensuing dilemma of choosing between loyalty to God and loyalty to one’s religion.
Former member of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Raymond Franz delivers a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the Watch Tower Society. In response to extraordinary events, Franz tells a unique account of the decision-making sessions of this religion’s inner council and the powerful, sometimes dramatic, impact their decisions have on Jehovah’s Witnesses. Crisis of Conscience offers a penetrating view of the supreme council of this organization, the Governing Body and their life altering power over human lives.
While the events of Raymond Franz’s departure from the Governing Body occurred in 1980, the organizational foundation and structure remains the same today, making this account relevant to a whole new generation.
Content: Raymond Franz, formerly a Governing Body member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, shares an account that reveals the inner workings and the decision-making processes of that Body, offering a penetrating view of the life altering power they have over human lives. The final nine of his sixty years as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses were spent on this central executive council. Those years led to his crisis of conscience, which is the theme of this book.
Based on the entire manuscript of Franz’s 2008 printing of Crisis of Conscience, this fifth edition 2018, also includes:
-Foreword by David Henke, author of Spiritual Abuse Recovery Workbook, and founder of Watchmen Fellowship, Inc. — David Henke is a Christian apologist that specializes in the field of Jehovah’s Witnesses, issues of mind control, spiritual abuse, and legalism. -Where is the “Great Crowd” Serving God? by Jon A. Mitchell, a former secretary to the Governing Body — As a secretary to the Governing Body, and member of the Service Department, Mitchell observed events during and immediately after Raymond Franz’ resignation from the Governing Body and numerous people were moved, demoted or disfellowshipp -
