Drawn Three Ways
$28.99Add to cartMoving reflections from an influential Anglican pastor, theologian, and teacher
In this compelling memoir Anthony Harvey traces the three ways he has felt drawn throughout his life – to a ministry in the Anglican priesthood, to a profession in theological scholarship, and to his marriage and family.
Harvey recounts his training of clergy in Canterbury, his time as canon of Westminster Abbey, his teaching and research at the University of Oxford, and his many exciting travels. He also candidly discusses the challenges presented by his marriage to an artist and writer whose spells of mental illness, along with the premature death of their daughter, placed great strain on both his family life and his public responsibilities.
Throughout the book Harvey authentically narrates his inner tensions and conflicts, his own spiritual questioning, and his propensity toward a Christian stoicism.

When I was wrestling with the request of others that I write my life story, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper to me, “Stones of remembrance.” He caught my attention, and I wondered what He was saying. My mind went immediately to Joshua 4:3 where the Lord commanded the Israelites to take up twelve stones from the middle of the river Jordan, one for each of the twelve tribes. It was important to the Lord that the children of Israel make a memorial so that future generations who had not experienced the power of God could understand and fear the Lord.As I pondered that fact, I began to understand that the supernatural experiences I had enjoyed were not just for me to receive revelation of God’s wonderful truths, but to leave them for others who would follow as well. And not surprisingly, I had experienced twelve different revelations!
I invite you to share with me the memorial stones that have become my testimony. Learn how God, in His great mercy and loving-kindness, will shine His light on the truth of His Word to open your understanding to His ways.

Coming Clean : A Story Of Faith
$15.99Add to cart“I suppose we’re all drunk on something.”
Seth Haines was in the hospital with his wife, planning funeral songs for their not-yet two-year-old, when he made a very conscious decision: this was the last day he wanted to feel. That evening, he asked his sister to smuggle in a bottle of gin, and gave in to addiction.
But whether or not you’ve ever had a drop to drink in your life, we’re all looking for ways to stop the pain. Like Seth, we’re all seeking balms for the anxiety of what sometimes seems to be an absent, unresponsive God–whether it’s through people-pleasing, shopping, the internet, food, career highs, or even good works and elite theology. We attempt to anesthetize our anxiety through addiction–any old addiction. But it often leaves us feeling even more empty than before.
In Coming Clean, Seth Haines writes a raw account of his first 90 days of sobriety, illuminating how to face the pain we’d rather avoid, and even more importantly, how an abiding God meets us in that pain. Seth shows us that true wholeness is found in facing our pain and anxieties with the tenacity and tenderness of Jesus, and only through Christ’s passion can we truly come clean.

Woodlawn : One Hope One Dream One Way
$16.99Add to cartThis riveting true story of courage, strength, and football at the height of racial tension in Birmingham, Alabama, inspired the motion picture “Woodlawn,” and tells the story of Coach Tandy Gerelds, his running back Tony Nathan, and a high school football game that healed a city.
In the midst of violent, impassioned racial tensions in Birmingham, Alabama, new football coach, Tandy Gerelds, was struggling to create a winning football team at Woodlawn High School–one of the last schools in Birmingham to integrate. The team he was handed did not have the caliber of players he needed to win–until he saw Tony Nathan run.
But Tony was African American and Coach Gerelds knew that putting him in as running back would be like drawing a target on his own back and the back of his soon-to-be star player. But Coach Gerelds saw something in Tony, and he knew that his decision to let him play was about more than football. It was about doing what was right for the school…and the city.
And soon, the only place in the city where blacks and whites got along was on Coach Gerelds’s football team. With the help of a new school chaplain, Tony learned to look beyond himself and realized that there was more at stake than winning a game.
In 1974, Coach Gerelds’s interracial team made Alabama history drawing 42,000 fans into the stadium to watch them play. It was this game that triggered the unity and support of the Woodlawn High School Colonels and that finally allowed a city to heal and taught its citizens how to love. -

Where A Man Stands
$15.00Add to cartWhen Beverly Hills High School welcomed a skinny boy from the other side of the tracks, no one knew just how life-changing the decision would be, not just for Carter Paysinger but for all of Beverly Hills.
Carter grew up hearing his parents say, “Don’t just strive to be good. Always strive to be great.” He dreamed of finding greatness in playing professional baseball or becoming a black Donald Trump, but fate had different plans and, ultimately, he found his calling as a teacher and coach at the school that once embraced him, becoming a rock for the innumerable kids who came seeking an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. One such kid, a scrappy Jewish boy from a prominent family, would change the course of Carter’s life. His name was Steven Fenton.
Twenty years later, as Beverly Hills High fell into disarray-with principals hired and fired and families fleeing the school-as well as his own life coming apart, Carter ran into Steven Fenton again. Together, they found renewed passion and hope to fight for their school and test the limits of what community means. But when Steven convinced Carter to throw his hat into the ring as principal, the progressive Beverly Hills suddenly thought that its winningest and most beloved coach didn’t fit the profile for the Beverly Hills image. It was the beginning of a long road, but Carter could hear his father saying, “Don’t listen to those voices. Do what you have to do.”
Filled with hope, triumph, and the struggles that come to define us, Where a Man Stands is a beautiful fish-out-of-water story about the families formed in unlikely places and how, in the end, where you stand, and with whom, and for what, matters as much as anything.

Francis Schaeffer : An Authentic Life
$24.99Add to cartA monumental work that draws on specially collected oral history to fully portray the person, work, and teaching of one of the most important figures in modern Christianity.
Nearly twenty-five years after his death, Francis Schaeffer’s impact as one of the foremost shapers of modern Christianity still reverberates within the church and contemporary culture. A pastor, apologist, best-selling author, and activist whose work and ministry reached around the world, Schaeffer also managed to deeply and personally influence people of every age and position-men, women, youth, and children; the schooled intellectual and the common laborer, the scientist and the artist, the doubting Christian and the skeptical non-believer-in a way that few others have.
His impassioned, genuine life is the focus of Colin Duriez’s authoritative biography, which draws on over 150,000 words of oral history in addition to personal interviews and other resources to portray not just the man and his relationships but his spiritual formation and the development of his ideas, creative works, and worldview. From his working-class childhood in Pennsylvania, to the founding of L’Abri, his personal crisis of faith, and his latter years as a compassionate controversialist in the worldwide spotlight, all the eras of Schaeffer’s life unfold within these pages. But Duriez, who studied under and interviewed Schaeffer, also takes a deeper look, revealing those distinct life phases, as well as Schaeffer’s teachings and his complexities as a person, within their historical context so that contemporary readers may better understand all of who Schaeffer was-and why he still matters today.
Filling an important void in Schaeffer literature, this full-length biography illuminates the complex journey of one whose relentless passion for truth, reality, a full-orbed faith, and meeting the needs of people made him not just a giant within evangelicalism but a shining example of what every Christian in every generation strives after: An Authentic Life lived to the glory of God.

1st American Evangelical
$21.99Add to cartCotton Mather (1663-1728) was America’s most famous pastor and scholar at the beginning of the eighteenth century. People today generally associate him with the infamous Salem witch trials, but in this new biography Rick Kennedy tells a bigger story: Mather, he says, was the very first American evangelical.
A fresh retelling of Cotton Mather’s life, this biography corrects misconceptions and focuses on how he sought to promote, socially and intellectually, a biblical lifestyle. As older Puritan hopes in New England were giving way to a broader and shallower Protestantism, Mather led a populist, Bible-oriented movement that embraced the new century – the beginning of a dynamic evangelical tradition that eventually became a major force in American culture.
Incorporating the latest scholarly research but written for a popular audience, The First American Evangelical brings Cotton Mather and his world to life in a way that helps readers understand both the Puritanism in which he grew up and the evangelicalism he pioneered.

By Canoe And Dog Train Updated Edition
$15.99Add to cartTo be a missionary to Canadian Indians in the late 1800s meant you had to be brave and relentless. It meant nearly freezing when sleeping outside in 50-below-zero weather. It meant canoeing upstream for hundreds of miles to reach remote Indian villages. It meant eating wild cat and other stranger things, or eating nothing for days at a time. But it also meant you were privileged to present the good news of the true Great Spirit to those who were often misunderstood and mistreated. The adventures in this book are rivaled only by the incredible conversions of those who saw the Creator in nature and then worshipped Him too. You will be challenged and inspired by the results of one man who went where the Lord led, with little regard for himself.

Incognito : Lost And Found At Harvard Divinity School
$19.99Add to cartFilled with humor, insight, and faith, this true story tells how one woman overcame challenges, stereotypes, and personal struggles at Harvard Divinity School and emerged an ordained minister.
As a bright young girl from Ohio, Andrea Raynor always wanted to be a doctor. Instead, she landed- almost by accident-at Harvard Divinity School, which, she quickly discovered, was no typical seminary. When she attended, in the 1980s, HDS was a place overflowing with creative expression and freedom of thought. Her classmates included two men who were undergoing sex changes and a woman who fancied herself a geisha. There was a lively gay and lesbian caucus, marches on Washington, civil disobedience, and more sexual intrigue than could be found in a stereotypical college fraternity house.
Providing a bird’s-eye view of life within the hallowed halls (and beneath the crimson robes), Incognito is a humorous and poignant glimpse inside one of the nation’s most revered institutions. It begins with the long drive from Ohio to Cambridge and ends at the bedside of a dying young woman. But the real story is about the challenges, surprises, and ultimately life-changing experiences Andrea faced on the road to understanding God’s call for her life. From navigating relationships to exploring whether a pretty girl can truly wear a collar, Incognito tackles our assumptions about spirituality, the church, morality, and identity, and affirms that God often works in ways-and in people-we least expect.

6 Months To Live
$10.00Add to cart“I wouldn’t trade my life for anyone else’s. If I could choose not to have cancer, and continue my life as it was, I wouldn’t do it.” – Matt Gauger. You’re twenty-two, in love, and just starting a career. The last thing you’re worried about is the purpose of life (whatever that means) and when you’re going to die. If you think about such things, you certainly don’t talk about them. With his sociable personality and love of music and basketball, Matt had plenty of friends but didn’t really stand out from the crowd. Then, a month before his wedding, he was diagnosed with cancer. Six months later he was dead. But Six Months to Live isn’t really about dying. It’s the story of how Matt and his family and friends struggled to accept his suffering, and how it changed each of them. It’s about facing (rather than avoiding) life’s most important questions, and – instead of going through the motions – living life to the full.

Amish Boy And A Mother?s Prayer
$15.99Add to cartAn Amish Boy and a Mother’s Prayer takes readers into the heart of Daviess County, Indiana, where Glen Graber was raised. His family was swiftly kicked out of the Old Order Amish church when Glen’s dad bought a rubber-tired tractor. Despite the pressure, Glen and his family found hope and humor each day as God miraculously answered their mother’s prayer.
More than a biography, this book is about a boy being determined to change his place in the world, and the miraculous reversals of misfortune. It’s about the prayers of a mother, the idiosyncrasies and love of a father, and the strength of a family. It is, in other words, the story of us.

Dont Call Me Christian
$14.99Add to cartTishbite Press Title
Paul Liberman believed in Destiny. He believed he had a Destiny. But what was behind Destiny? What made it work? Paul was obsessed with finding out. “I am certain there is more to life than can be seen.” The Liberman family arrived in New York from Minsk, Belarus in 1906. Paul’s grandfather, Bernard, was 12. The Libermans derived from a European world that for centuries consisted of two populations — Christians and Jews. Living side by side, but frequently in conflict, the line between the two groups was distinct — observed by all and frequently legally enforced. In 1918, Bernard founded the Liberman electrical supply company on the Southside of Chicago. Paul grew up working in the family business, but he sought more. Politics provided Paul’s way of escape and led him to Washington, DC where he routinely interacted with Senators and Congressmen. He even found himself in the White House for meetings. However, nothing in Washington satisfied or provided answers for his deepest longing. “How does destiny work? Who or what is behind it.” This is the story of how one Jew found his answer.

Power Of Conviction
$17.99Add to cartJames Tillman was stretched out on his basement couch, relaxing after a long day of work at the car wash, the smell of sweet onions and simmering steak filling the air of his modest apartment in the projects of Hartford, Conn. His mother, a bible perched nearby, was softly singing a hymn when she was shaken by the thundering sound of pounding on the front door. It wasn’t a knock; it was an act of sheer force. In an instant, the police burst in, lifted James out of his home and shoved him into prison, arresting him for the brutal rape of a young corporate executive. For over 18 years, James professed his innocence, through the investigation, trial, appeals, and to anyone who would listen. Finally, after a series of extraordinary events, the Connecticut Innocence Project took up James’ case, eventually winning his freedom—the first person to be exonerated in the state through the use of DNA.
This is an inspirational story about the power of conviction: the wrongful conviction that sent James Tillman to prison for over 18 years, and the power of his own conviction that helped him persevere, offer a transformational forgiveness and earn a redemption that is so valued he remarkably calls his experience in prison, “a gift.”
“The Power of Conviction” is for people who are facing tough times. You will understand that you’re not alone, that things can be brutally bad and we can react poorly at times, but where there is love, there is always hope.
How did James Tillman endure 18 years of hell in prison? What specific lessons can you learn about the transformational power of forgiv

Yet One More Spring
$35.99Add to cartJoy Davidman (1915-1960) is probably best known today as the woman that C. S. Lewis married in the last decade of his life. But she was also an accomplished writer in her own right – an awardwinning poet and a prolific book, theater, and film reviewer during the late 1930s and early 1940s.
Yet One More Spring is the first comprehensive critical study of Joy Davidman’s poetry, nonfiction, and fiction. Don King studies her body of work – including both published and unpublished works – chronologically, tracing her development as a writer and revealing Davidman’s literary influence on C. S. Lewis. King also shows how Davidman’s work reflects her religious and intellectual journey from secular Judaism to atheism to Communism to Christianity.
Drawing as it does on a cache of previously unknown manuscripts of Davidman’s work, Yet One More Spring brings to light the work of a very gifted but largely overlooked American writer.

$18.99Add to cartUndone is author Michele Cushatt’s quest to make peace with a complicated life. It is an honest confession of a diagnosis of cancer and the joys and disappointments of motherhood and marriage, ripe with regret over what is and, yet, still hopeful for what could be. A look back makes Michele long for a do-over, the chance to make fewer mistakes and leave less of a mess to clean up. A look forward makes Michele wonder if all her attempts to control life have robbed her of the vibrancy of it. And, in the middle of this internal chaos, she finds her once-pristine house filled with the sights and sounds of three small, uncontainable children who just want to be loved. In the end, Undone turns complication into a beautiful canvas, angst into joy, and the unknown into an adventure, revealing that sometimes life’s most colorful and courageous stories are written right in the middle of the mess.

Undertakers Wife : A True Story Of Love Loss And Laughter In The Unlikelies
$18.99Add to cartDeona (“Dee”) Branch married into the funeral business when she wed Johnnie Oliver, a fourth-generation funeral director, in 1984. She knew that her husband did not belong just to her; this became clear as early as their first date, when Johnnie had to scoot out “for just a minute”-and he came back with a corpse.
After Johnnie died suddenly in 2007, Dee went back to school and earned her mortuary science degree so that she could carry on his work. Barred re-entry into the family business by a jealous brother-in-law, Dee found herself fully credentialed, armed with nearly 30 years of funeral experience-and utterly jobless. None of the “white” funeral homes would have her, for fear of alienating the venerable H.D. Oliver funeral clan. Thus it was that-despite having an iPhone full of well-connected business leaders, political luminaries, garden club mavens, and countless other very rich, very white, and very certain-to-perish friends– Dee finally decided to cross the racial divide in perhaps, the most segregated industry in America. She accepted an internship at Riddick’s, a funeral home staffed entirely by, and for, black people.
Part memoir, part how-to book, The Undertakers Widow might also be described as The Blind Side-in reverse. Dee’s insights on the common ground of grief, survival, and the ever-present faithfulness of God (to all of us, regardless of our race, religious upbringing, or socio-economic background) will help readers prepare for one of life’s only certainties-and do it with wisdom, grace, and a healthy dose of joy.

We must position ourselves to receive. In any circumstance where a giver is giving, the recipient must position themselves to receive. Spiritually you cannot receive a gift from God unless you position yourself to receive that gift. In fact, if you are not in position, God’s blessing will crush you, it will cause the opposite effect that was intended. Cameron and Caden Sturtz were dying from a rare liver disease until their parents decided to go and position themselves to let go and let God take control even if their boys were to lose their life. This miracle blessing was crushing their family until they were willing to position themselves, which was the hardest decision ever. Written in a beautiful and engaging style, Seven Men addresses what it means (or should mean) to be a man today, at a time when media and popular culture present images of masculinity that are not the picture presented in Scripture and historic civil life. What does it take to be a true exemplar as a father, brother, husband, leader, coach, counselor, change agent, and wise man? What does it mean to stand for honesty, courage, and charity, especially at times when the culture and the world run counter to those values? Each of the seven biographies represents the life of a man who experienced the struggles and challenges to be strong in the face of forces and circumstances that would have destroyed the resolve of lesser men.
Each of the seven men profiled-George Washington, William Wilberforce, Eric Liddell, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Jackie Robinson, John Paul II, and Charles Colson-call the reader to a more elevated walk and lifestyle, one that embodies the gospel in the world around us. -

Doubting Thomas : The Religious Life And Legacy Of Thomas Jefferson
$49.99Add to cartHarvard University Professor Alan Heimert said that the evidence in this book provides, “truly new and original insight into the religious atmosphere of pre-Revolutionary Virginia, adding immeasurably to Jefferson’s own intellectual biography.” Drawing from about 1100 religious letters and papers of Jefferson, this book identifies over 200 religious leaders or groups that Jefferson either worshipped with, aided financially or corresponded with. Bikin And Brotherhood
$14.99Add to cartFrom the popularity of cable television shows concerning building choppers or the criminal aspects of the motorcycle gang lifestyle, to the phenomenal success of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company, no one can deny America has become fascinated with bikers and the machines they love.
Author Dave Spurgeon provides a firsthand look into the world of the Harley enthusiast and beyond. He takes you to where few have dared to tread-into the sinister, and often misunderstood, reality of the true one-percenters. He takes you on a ride into a place about which many are curious, but few know well.
Be advised: This is not the exhaustive work of an investigative reporter, nor an account of the zealous efforts of an undercover law enforcement operation. This is the personal chronicle of Spurgeon’s 15 years in the fast lane. Sobering, sometimes humorous, yet always painfully accurate, it begins with his love affair with the motorcycle and then continues into the ominous 1%er Brotherhood of the bike gang culture in America.
You will be educated, entertained, warned, and enlightened by this brutally honest narrative from a man who has been there and back and lived to tell about it.

$19.00Add to cartSex trafficking is currently a hot news topic, but it is not a new problem or just a problem in “other” countries. Preemptive Love : Pursuing Peace One Heart At A Time
$16.00Add to cartA personal account of the Courtney family and the Preemptive Love Coalition, as they help children obtain lifesaving surgeries in Iraq using one simple but powerful tool: a love that strikes first.
In the middle of the Iraq War, Jeremy and Jessica Courtney found themselves with their two children caught up in the turmoil, just hoping to make a difference. After an encounter with a father whose little girl was dying from a heart defect, they began to investigate options for helping and learned that untold thousands of children across Iraq were in similar need, waiting in line for heart surgery in a country without a qualified heart surgeon.
With the help of their closest friends, they dived in to save the lives of as many as they could, but sending children abroad proved to be expensive and cumbersome, and it failed to make an impact on the systemic needs of Iraqi hospitals-the place where these children really should be saved. Despite fatwas, death threats, bombings, imprisonments, and intense living conditions, Jeremy and his team persevered to overcome years of hostilities and distrust in an effort to eradicate the backlog of thousands upon thousands of Iraqi children waiting in line for much-needed heart surgery.

Burdened To Tell
$11.99Add to cartSharon Allen, a long-time public school administrator, was diagnosed with an extremely rare and lethal form of cancer. Having determined that God’s will was in opposition to treatment, she began writing this manuscript, at what she believed to be the bidding of the Holy Spirit. As she detailed her decision to refuse cancer treatment, what began to unfold was an account of a miraculous thread through her life. As a result, her theological foundations have evolved. She was “burdened to tell” many painful and embarrassing events revealed in these pages. She believes her obedience to place these events in print to glorify His name is one reason God has allowed her to live. It was not immediate, but it did evolve, whereby Sharon could thank the Lord for her cancer. Without that diagnosis, the reflections that took place while writing this manuscript detailing her sometimes troubled and often rebellious life would not have provided the blessings that have followed as a result. She was “Burdened to Tell” her whole story.
