    • Covenant Economics : A Biblical Vision Of Justice For All

      $39.00

The Bible deals with all aspects of life indivisibly. In the last generation biblical scholars broadened the usual focus on religious issues with more attention to the “social world” of biblical texts. Much less attention was given to economic issues reflected in the Bible. And biblical scholars did not make the limited amount of research on economic issues in the Bible generally accessible to educated readers, clergy and lay. This book does just that, allowing pastors, students, and interested laity to form an understanding about the economics of the Bible and its clarion call for economic justice for all, an issue that is sure to resonate during today’s trying economic times. Questions for discussion and suggestions for further reading are included in this volume-a work that will spark lively conversation.

    • Job : A Man Of Heroic Endurance

      $24.99

Best selling author Charles Swindoll unveils the life and trials of Job and helps readers understand the key to developing heroic endurance. The trials of Job are legendary. One righteous man suffering so many calamities, so much heartache. Though many have heard about Job and his trials, not all people truly understand what those trials were about and what God was trying to accomplish through them. Job himself was confused about it all. What did I do to deserve such suffering? he cried out. Eventually, though, through tough questions and unexpected answers from God, Job gained new insights on suffering, patience, and endurance. And, more important, he learned how deeply he was loved by God, a lesson available for every Christian wounded by or in the midst of a trial.

    • Seeing Things Johns Way

      $52.00

The emotionally evocative power of the book of Revelation has been often noted and even experienced by interpreters, but until now it has never been systematically explored. The strange visions of the book of Revelation provide some of the most difficult passages of the New Testament, yet Christians have long been fascinated by its power and provocative pronouncements. David deSilva analyzes how the book argues and persuades us to see the world through the eyes of John, and suggests that the study of ancient rhetoric is particularly valuable in understanding the book of Revelation. Professor deSilva interprets the book of Revelation as a rhetorical and communicative strategy to persuade a particular audience for specific goals. Throughout this analysis, he pursues John’s construction of his own authority, John’s use of emotion and logic, and his attempt to shape the formation of the reader. Despite the complexities of Revelation, deSilva has produced a remarkably clear text sure to cause readers to rethink their view of Revelation.

      $45.00

In the pages of the Hebrew Bible, ancient Israel gave witness to its encounter with a profound and uncontrollable reality experienced through relationship. This book, drawn from the heart of foremost Old Testament theologian Walter Brueggemann’s Theology of the Old Testament, distills a career’s worth of insights into the core message of the Hebrew Bible. God is described there, Brueggemann observes, as engaging four “partners”-Israel, the nations, creation, and the human being-in the divine purpose. This volume presents Brueggemann at his most engaging, offering profound insights tailored especially for the beginning student of the Hebrew Bible.

      $56.66

Jewish writings from the period of Second Temple present a rich and potentially overwhelming variety of first-hand materials. George W. E. Nickelsburg and Michael E. Stone, experts on this formative period, have updated their classic sourcebook on Jewish beliefs and practices to take into account current thinking about the sources and to include new documents, including texts from Qumran not available in the first edition, in a brilliantly organized synthesis.

Included are chapters on Jewish sects and parties, the Temple and worship in it, ideals of piety and conduct, expectations concerning deliverance, judgment, and vindication, different conceptions of the agents of God’s activity, and the figure of Lady Wisdom in relationship to Israel.

Many people feel lost when trying to read the Bible. The Bible’s Plot is an overview of the Bible showing how individual Bible texts (including laws, psalms, prophecies, and letters) fit into a larger plot that, in turn, shapes the meaning of the individual stories. Along the way the book traces ten recurring plot-patterns that thread their way through the entire Bible, revealing patterns of God’s work in our lives today.

    • Stay The Course And Stick With The True Gospel

      $24.98

To “stay the course” means to persevere through difficulty. To “stick with” something means to not give it up. Gospel means “good news.” We need some good news today and God has it. However, the “gospel” offered today is often different from the gospel revealed by God in His word. That has led to a lot of bad news. The “gospel” must be accurate and true to what God has revealed. We can’t change the words of God and expect God to abide by conditions He never offered. That is exactly what is happening in the church today. The consequence of straying off course is spiritual dullness, division, and disillusionment. The church is experiencing a kind of Dark Ages. Because the church is in darkness, the world is too. But there is hope! Throughout history the true gospel has been a powerful reality. Stay the Course and Stick with the True Gospel, based on a study of Galatians, is a challenging call to discover and stick to the true gospel and sound biblical doctrine.

      $33.11

Before the foundation of the world, God knew even the end of mankind. For our understanding, God unveils Scriptures, which provide those illustrations that, in particular, give us insight as to the details of future events as forecasted in the Scriptures. Those forecasts are precise models of future events to be experienced in this world as though God had choreographed them for us to observe the times and seasons as a play rehearsed and to be unfolded in the future of mankind. God is the Author of the Holy Scriptures that are, for us, a reference of a precisely dictated order of events of this world that are orchestrated, by Himself, for His Glory. Accordingly, the final act of this play is, also, provided for us to understand the last seven years of the history of mankind.

    • Christian Life And The History Of Israel

      $32.48

In Israel’s history, who are the Amorites and the Philistines? Do they represent anything for modern Christians? In this book we can see spiritual problems they represent in the Christian life. In fact, in flesh and blood, geography, Tabernacle artifacts, and other things, the history of Israel in the Old Testament forms a model of the internal struggles we face as believers in Jesus. For those of you who are just starting out with Christ, or those who have been on this journey for many decades, this book can help you get your bearings. As Israel journeyed from Canaan, to Egypt, to the desert, and back to Canaan, so the Christian begins as an infant, becomes a natural, then carnal, then possibly, a spiritual man, respectively. The names of places, enemies of Israel, and other items all have meaning for us as we examine the roots of their names in Hebrew. In Semitic understanding the symbols are real people, events, and places; and their names also shed light on our walk here. Come take Jesus by the hand. Learn the lessons and overcome the problems with His help. You may move ahead more surely and quickly with Israel’s history as a road map before you. Let’s begin!

With themes such as grace, forgiveness, and redemption set against the background of rebellion, drunkenness, sexual infidelity, and even bloody revenge, these two-fisted, no-holds-barred Bible stories — sometimes with amusing punch lines — are a great tool for teaching deep truths about humanity, the world, and God. • Heart Of The Bible Narrative

      $33.33

Modern biblical scholarship has long been preoccupied with the relationship between history and doctrine. Karl A. Kuhn argues that an overly rational approach to the thought of the biblical authors misses the equally important but long neglected affective dimension of biblical narrative.

In Part I of The Heart of Biblical Narrative, Kuhn presents an approach to the Bible that applies “affective analysis” to get at a “cardiography of biblical narrative.” Biblical narrative in both Israel’s scripture and the New Testament is understood fundamentally as an attempt to persuade and move the reader, not simply to convince the reader of certain truths.

In Part II, Kuhn’s close reading of the opening chapters of Luke’s Gospel shows how biblical authors employed pathos as a way of drawing readers into their narrative and, thereby, their understanding of reality.

    • Solomons Song Of Love

      $17.95

One of the most beautiful and mysterious books of the Bible is laid open for all to understand in this unparalleled work by Dr. Craig Glickman. With apparent ease, Glickman unveils the mysteries of the Song of Solomon in a popular-read format. But the surface simplicity is backed up by a lifetime of study and scholarship, three special appendices, and interpretive notes that validate his interpretation. Also included is a fresh translation of the Song published in this book for the first time. Initial readers of this book offer resounding praise. This book is “the most fascinating book I have ever read about the Song,” says Dr. Henry Cloud. Old Testament scholars praise it as an academic breakthrough: “clear, cogent, and convincing,” says Dr. Eugene Merrill; “a valuable contribution to our translation and understanding of the Song,” says Ed Blum, general editor of the HCSB translation. Dr. Paul Meier sums it up in these words, “Craig weaves thousands of years of wisdom together to paint a vivid word picture of emotional and sexual intimacy.”

    • Revelation Of John

      $35.00

As the only book of its kind in the New Testament, Revelation can be difficult to understand, and for readers without specialized training, the historical-critical approach used in many commentaries can provide more complication than illumination. Here James Resseguie applies the easily understandable tools introduced in his primer on narrative criticism to this challenging book. He shows how Revelation uses such features as rhetoric, setting, character, point of view, plot, symbolism, style, and repertoire to construct its meaning. This literary approach draws out the theological and homiletical message of the book and highlights its major unifying themes: the need to listen well, an overwhelmingly God-centered perspective, and the exodus to a new promised land. Here is a valuable aid for pastor and serious lay reader alike.

      $43.73

From Moab to Bethlehem…Journey to the King is an in-depth study of the biblical book of Ruth. Full of deep insights by author Cynthia Shomaker, it traces the footsteps of Naomi and Ruth and takes the reader on an inspiring journey from doubt, despair and defeat to triumphant faith and satisfying fulfillment. First taught to a small Bible study group, the 44 lessons in From Moab to Bethlehem address issues every person deals with, among them: the temptation to trust in earthly things, failed expectations, responding to loss, disillusionment and despair, past sins and other debilitating conditions, self-doubts and insecurities and false saviors. Along the way, it constantly points the reader to Jesus, the King, the true Savior and Redeemer, who much like Boaz, Ruth’s kinsman-redeemer, is not only able to redeem fully, but to provide “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” This inspirational book challenges us to dare to leave our “Moabs” behind, venture by faith onto the pathway to Bethlehem, the “House of Bread,” and find there in Christ everything we’ll ever need. • Faithful Disagreement : Wrestling With Scripture In The Midst Of Church Con (Stu

      $21.00

Conflict is all too common in the church today. But as Frances Taylor Gench reminds us in this book, conflict over scriptural interpretation has been with the church since its earliest days. Gench reflects on those early experiences of conflict, presenting substantive studies of biblical texts showing that discord (e.g., Rom. 1415; Matt. 14; Jer. 28; 1 Cor. 1214; John 1317) and drawing lessons from each about how it informs current conflicts in the church. In the process, she provides a constructive resource to help Christians wrestle with Scripture when they disagree.

This innovative book can be used by individuals and in groups. Numerous helpful study questions conclude each chapter.

      $19.98

God, who created me and, He had chosen me for His ministry to preach the Gospel one of God’s many purpose’s in my life. I am cautious and careful to be obedient to Him to Praise, Honor, and Glorify God that has created me for His purpose. All of these words in this book, I believe have been inspired by God through the Holy Spirit that was made possible because of the sacrifice that was made by Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. I think back when I thought it was God instructing me to not read these other interpretations or translations of the Bible. I was being deceived by satan the enemy and ruler of confusion. Realize why we do not delight in the law of the Lord and why is it we do not meditate on these scriptures day and night. Because we are infected with the fleshly worldly lusts and desires of the media and addictions of advertisements. Satan indices our flesh with camouflaging treats of mouth watering pleasures that was seemingly pleasantly rewarding. Then after we have partaken of worldly pleasures we find ourselves obese, in credit card debt, or double or triple mortgaged. Abused our bodies till our health, well we wonder, then quickly realize we did not take great care of this Godly temple. Now, when I read the New Living Translation Bible or New International Version, King James Version, or New King James Version, I’m not intimidated. It just gives me more understanding.

    • He Became Poor

      $30.99

Drawing deeply on the views of Thomas Aquinas, He Became Poor challenges the modern economic tendency toward the “proprietary self” and calls for a renewed appreciation of the virtues of trusting receptivity and humble awareness of our membership in a larger benevolent order. Christopher Franks reveals how the summons to become poor bestows a new intelligibility on formerly obscure economic teachings. In the course of his discussion Franks juxtaposes Aquinas with Aristotle, John Locke, and Alasdair MacIntyre.

This book makes a provocative case for taking Aquinas’s thoughts on economics more seriously and illustrates how the very market conditions of the modern world cloud any attempt to fully understand Aquinas. Franks offers a convincing argument that questioning market-formed assumptions can actually help us recover the evangelical character of Aquinas’s ethics.

    • Heart Almanac Expository And Curriculum

      $22.48

Human life is governed by the heart. The physical heart sustains the body by pumping life-giving blood to every organ and cell. The spiritual heart, on the other hand, is God’s dwelling place on earth. Our success or failure in life depends not upon material wealth or social status but upon the condition of our spiritual heart. Everyone without exception needs a new heart from God, clean and right before Him, because without a new heart there cannot be a new life. The heart holds the keys of life. Downing’s Heart Manual is biblically and scripturally based to help students know their own hearts and enable them to meet the challenges of life from a heart perspective. This 2-year study guide is designed to help students and teachers broaden their knowledge of the heart and of how to love the Lord with all of their heart, which is the first and greatest commandment (Matthew 22:37-38). Knowledge of our heart is very important because out of the heart flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). In Hosea 4:6 God says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Spiritual heart knowledge-God’s heart as well as our own-is essential for eternal life. This one-of-a-kind heart manual will guide students on an intimate journey into the very heart of God.

    • More Precious Than Gold

      $21.99

Theologian and pastor Sam Storms urges readers to discover and delight in the treasures of Psalms through 50 days of meditations on this beloved Bible book. In his third book of daily meditations, Sam Storms urges readers to not just enter into God’s Word but to take the next step toward knowing him and his Word better. And the book of Psalms, Storms believes, is a great place to start, because Psalms is so popular and so very relevant to our experiences today. In More Precious Than Gold, Storms combines years of life experience and his biblical and theological training to bring readers 50 brief, daily meditations that are both stylistically accessible and theologically substantive. Each meditation includes a historical or theological reflection on the psalm in context, a story that brings it alive, and creative tools to support the key idea. Storms also interweaves the words of such luminaries as Charles Spurgeon, Jonathan Edwards, and John Piper to help readers better understand the concepts that are featured throughout Psalms: worship, prayer, joy, forgiveness, steadfast love, mercy, sin’s consequences, the law of the Lord, and our relationship with our enemies. Like the Psalter, Storms doesn’t shy away from the tough issues. Instead, he encourages readers to experience through these daily meditations what he and generations of Christians have found to be true: that the whole of the Christian faith is about lifting God higher and magnifying his name-even during difficult times.

    • Through His Eyes

      $26.00

Eve, Sarah, Deborah, Mary, the woman at the well…; women have played pivotal roles in redemptive history. Their case studies reveal God’s perspective on women, then and now. Few biblical teachings have been as misunderstood and muddled by those inside and outside the church as its instruction concerning women. Through His Eyes answers the question “What does God think about women, and how does he treat them?” by walking readers through several biblical case studies. Through His Eyes begins with Eve and a series of Old Testament examples that demonstrate the respect God gives to women and their significant place in salvation history. In the New Testament we see how God blessed Mary by calling her to be the mother of our Savior and how beautifully Jesus treated women. Here is a happy exposition of the dignity and glory the Lord showers on women. The author encourages women to delight in their creation and calling, and he challenges men to honor women as does the Lord himself.

In Great Lives: Joseph, Charles Swindoll reveals to us a man buffeted with the same kinds of problems we face today, whose tenacious faith in God ultimately won him great honor and achievement. No family today is more dysfunctional than Joseph’s was. No one faces greater temptation than that which Potiphar’s wife offered Joseph. No faith is challenged more severely than was Joseph’s on death row. Yet Joseph stood firm, exemplifying what is possible when ordinary people maintain their connections with God. THE LAYING ON OF HANDS AS A MARK OF FAVOUR
THE LAYING ON OF HANDS FOR THE RECEPTION OF THE SPIRIT
THE LAYING ON OF HANDS FOR COMMISSIONING AND ORDINATION
      CONCLUSIONS

      Additional Info
This study investigates the procedural techniques, significance, and the tangible effects of the laying on of hands in the New Testament. The author investigates the background of the New Testament practice by conducting investigation in the Old Testament and contemporary Judaism and the Graeco-Roman and Near-Eastern literature. The main chapters are exegetical, each discussing a particular use of the laying on of hands in the New Testament: for blessing, healing, reception of the Spirit and ordination. A special attention is given to the inner process of transfer of power through physical contact. It is the author’s conclusion that in the New Testament the gesture always signifies transfer of some positive materia: blessing, ‘life-force’, the Spirit and charismata. In the final section, an attempt is made to gauge the possibility of any uniformity in the significance of the various New Testament uses of the laying on of hands.

    • At Home In A Strange Land

      $32.00

The Old Testament is a problem for many Christians. Some find it puzzling, or even offensive; others seem to glibly misuse it for their own ends. There are few resources aimed at enabling ordinary Christians to understand the OT and use it in their lives as followers of Jesus.

In this book At Home in a Strange Land: Using the Old Testament in Christian Ethics, Andrew Sloane seeks to address this need. He outlines some of the problems that ordinary Christians face in reading the Old Testament as part of Christian Scripture and provides a framework for interpreting the Old Testament and using it in Christian ethics. He identifies some of the key biblical texts of both the Old Testament and the New Testament that both inform Christian ethics and challenge us to live as God’s people. Using the paradigm of learning to travel in unfamiliar places, Sloane seeks to equip the reader with tools for understanding many of the puzzling and difficult passages found in the Old Testament. In sum, the book aims to “rehabilitate” the Old Testament for ordinary, even skeptical, 21st century Christians.

While many of the issues have been covered elsewhere, there is very little that seeks to bring together questions of interpretation and “ethical application” in one book aimed at lay people. The book would also be valuable in a college course on Christian ethics.

Introduction to the Prophets is a helpful guide to reading the prophetic books of the Christian canon, discussing the Major and Minor Prophets in their canonical order. It is intended to introduce modern readers to the ancient books. Paul Redditt assumes little or no prior knowledge of the prophets on the part of the reader. For example, when he introduces technical terms, he takes care to define them and includes a glossary for complete reference. Each chapter discusses The place of each book in the canon The literary setting of each book Their structure, integrity, and authorship The main genre(s) in each Special features of each book Basic emphasis of each book Problems – theological, literary, or historical – raised Redditt eschews review questions at the end of the chapters, instead offering questions for further reflection. Introduction to the Prophets also includes three chapters discussing the nature of prophecy, methods developed by scholars to use in studying the Bible, the rise of the “Book of Twelve,” and the approach taken to them here. This book is helpful and thorough, perfect as a text or for anyone hoping to delve deeper into the prophets.

The Bible presents us with difficult statements about money and finance, social justice, marrige and divorce, sex, religion and politics, and other areas of life. Many of us pick and choose among them, feeling free to treat some of the Bible’s moral rulings as absolutes but ignoring those we find unacceptable.

Are there areas where we can ignore what the Bible says? Is the Bible simply wrong about some things? Are we free to argue that we understand things better than the biblical writers did and can therefore disregard them? Or must we accept what the Bible tells us, no matter how difficult it might be to put into practice? Kraus explores questions of vengeance, the death penalty, economics, social justice, sexual behavior, and more.

To see baptism as merely a ceremony greatly limits the meanings of Christian baptism, says Martin Marty, in this practical and inspirational new look at baptism. Martin Luther recommended that believers should begin and end their day reminding themselves of their baptism and then go to work joyfully or to sleep cheerfully.
Baptism, says Marty, is at the heart of the everyday, life-long spiritual journey as he explores such questions as:
How did early Christians understand and practice baptism?
What difference does baptism make in our daily life?
How does baptism manifest itself in our relationships, our choices, our faith?

With great insight and wisdom Marty brings us both the history of baptism and a useful guide to its application for everyday life. The book includes questions for reflection and discussion.

      Additional Info
Since its publication in 1994, The Story of God has played an important role in implementing and advancing the study of narrative theology. One of the first books to formulate and examine Wesleyan theology using the Bible’s overarching story, it continues to serve as a popular text in colleges and universities and as a reliable resource for ministers and theologians.

Unlike other books, which use a topical or systematic approach to understanding theology, The Story of God uses the flesh-and-blood stories of the Bible to help readers see the complete picture of God s love for the world and in doing so, gain a better understanding and appreciation for the Christian faith.

Updated and revised to include current language and ideologies, this new edition provides readers with an even more engaging and accessible introduction to Christian theology. Drawing from Scripture, everyday experience, and contemporary reflection, Michael Lodahl weaves together the stories and themes of the Bible to present a compelling picture of the grand story of God and the amazing love He has for His people.

    • How To Read The Bible

      $25.00

Scholars from different fields have joined forces to reexamine every aspect of the Hebrew Bible. Their research, carried out in universities and seminaries in Europe and America, has revolutionized our understanding of almost every chapter and verse. But have they killed the Bible in the process?

In How to Read the Bible, Harvard professor James Kugel leads the reader chapter by chapter through the “quiet revolution” of recent biblical scholarship, showing time and again how radically the interpretations of today’s researchers differ from what people have always thought. The story of Adam and Eve, it turns out, was not originally about the “Fall of Man,” but about the move from a primitive, hunter-gatherer society to a settled, agricultural one. As for the stories of Cain and Abel, Abraham and Sarah, and Jacob and Esau, these narratives were not, at their origin, about individual people at all but, rather, explanations of some feature of Israelite society as it existed centuries after these figures were said to have lived. Dinah was never raped — her story was created by an editor to solve a certain problem in Genesis. In the earliest version of the Exodus story, Moses probably did not divide the Red Sea in half; instead, the Egyptians perished in a storm at sea. Whatever the original Ten Commandments might have been, scholars are quite sure they were different from the ones we have today. What’s more, the people long supposed to have written various books of the Bible were not, in the current consensus, their real authors: David did not write the Psalms, Solomon did not write Proverbs or Ecclesiastes; indeed, there is scarcely a book in the Bible that is not the product of different, anonymous authors and editors working in different periods.

Such findings pose a serious problem for adherents of traditional, Bible-based faiths. Hiding from the discoveries of modern scholars seems dishonest, but accepting them means undermining much of the Bible’s reliability and authority as the word of God. What to do? In his search for a solution, Kugel leads the reader back to a group of ancient biblical interpreters who flourished at the end of the biblical period. Far from naive, these interpreters consciously set out to depart from the original meaning of the Bible’s various stories, laws, and prophecies — and they, Kugel argues, hold the key to solving the dilemma of reading the Bible today.

      $35.00

Recent years have seen an explosion of writing on the history of Israel, prompted largely by definitive archaeological surveys and attempts to write a genuine archaeological history of ancient Israel and Judah. The scholarly world has also witnessed an intense confrontation between so-called minimalists and maximalists over the correct approach to the historicity of the Bible. Memories of Ancient Israel looks at the issues at stake in doing biblical historythe ideologies involved, the changing role of archaeology, and the influence of cultural contexts, both ancient and modern. Davies suggests a different way of defining the problem of reliability and historicity by employing the theory of cultural memory. In doing so, he provides a better explanation of how ancient societies constructed their past but also a penetrating insight into the ideological underpinnings of today’s scholarly debates.

The slogan “Paul and the Empire” is much in vogue in New Testament scholarship today. But did Paul truly formulate his gospel in antithesis to the Roman imperial cult and ideology and seek to subvert the Empire? In Christ and Caesar Seyoon Kim first examines five epistles of Paul exegetically and shows how the dominant anti-imperial interpretation is actually difficult to sustain.

Next he examines the Lukan writings (Luke-Acts) to see how Luke talks about the encounters of Paul and other gospel preachers with Roman imperialism. Kim explores why it is that Luke makes no effort to present Christ’s redemption as materialized in terms of political liberation. Finally, Kim compares the exaltation Christologies of Luke, Revelation, Paul, and Hebrews and inquires about the hermeneutical possibility of developing a political Christology in our present-day context.

    • Old Testament Between Theology And History

      $57.00

From its inception at the time of the Enlightenment until the mid-twentieth century, the historical-critical method constituted the dominant paradigm in Old Testament studies. In this magisterial overview, Niels Peter Lemche surveys the development of the historical-critical method and the way it changed the scholarly perception of the Old Testament. In part 1 he describes the rise and influence of historical-critical approaches, while in part 2 he traces their decline and fall. Then, in part 3, he discusses the identity of the authors of the Old Testament, based on the content of the literature they wrote, demonstrating that the collapse of history does not preclude critical study. Part 4 investigates the theological consequences of this collapse and surveys Old Testament and biblical theology in its various manifestations in the twentieth century. An appendix includes a history of Palestine from the Stone Age to modern times, constructed without recourse to the Old Testament.

    • Challenging Prophetic Metaphor

      $38.00

The prophets of the Old Testament use a wide variety of metaphors to describe God and to portray how to understand people in relation to God. Some of these metaphors are familiar and soothing; others are unfamiliar and confusing. Still others portray God in ways that are difficult and uncomfortableGod as abusive husband, for instance, or as neglectful father. Julia OBrien searches the prophetic books for these metaphors, looking for ways that the different images intersect and build off each other. • Gods Magnificent Drama

      $18.73

Motivated by repeated comments from parishioners, class members and even fellow clergy about difficulties in understanding the book of Revelation, the author set out to demonstrate that the book is a genuine “revelation,” meant to be understood by God’s people. The book title defines that goal; it really is a Magnificent Drama. The contents of Revelation are covered thoroughly but the book is no mere word-for-word commentary. Readers will think and feel with the Apostle John as he receives and records our Lord’s messages about the future and into eternity. Extremes of the drama include a descent to the darkest depths of human history and will soar to unprecedented glory at the end. It’s a breath-taking drama and as the word of God, it is all true, exciting reading. Ken Knappen, an ordained Baptist minister, earned Master of Arts and Doctor of Ministry degrees at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He was engaged in pastoral work for forty-four years including a six-year stint as a Conservative Baptist Association denominational staffer. Concurrent with active pastoral ministry, he served on numerous boards and committees including the National Association of Evangelicals’ Board of Administration and as the vice-chair of the Buffalo/Niagara Falls Billy Graham crusade. For fourteen years following retirement in 1993, he and his wife, Mitzie, taught a Bible class in a United Methodist church.

      $20.61

We Have Been Invaded. The modern evangelical church is even now undergoing a transformation that is changing its heart and soul and foundation completely. The FutureChurch is the deliberately designed dream of those moving the world toward globalism, “One World – One Religion.” Two or three decades ago, the obstacles to such a transformation were so many as to make the task almost impossible. But, said the tortoise to the hare, slow and steady wins the race. And while the church has run hare-like into trends, megachurch programs and media-driven movements, the New Age tortoise has come into the back door and planted within our walls the tares of deception and illusion that are transforming the church into a New Age Globalist apparatus and puppet from within. Be aware. Be prepared. The Trojan Church is here.

    • David : A Man Of Passion And Destiny

      $15.99

In the first and best-selling Great Lives book, Great Lives: David, Dr. Swindoll explores the Old Testament shepherd, king, and psalmist, to answer the question, “What does it mean to be someone after God’s own heart?” In many ways he was a most extraordinary man-intelligent, handsome, abundantly gifted as a poet, musician, warrior, and administrator. Yet in other ways he was a most ordinary man-often gripped by destructive passion, rocked by family chaos and personal tragedy, and motivated by political expediency. How did David become the national hero of God’s chosen people? Why is he the one character in the Bible described as a “man after God’s own heart”? Chuck Swindoll explores the many facets of David-from his teenaged years and dysfunctional family life to his overwhelming passion for God.

    • Pedagogy Of The Bible

      $28.00

For generations, most seminary teaching of the Bible has focused on the historical-critical method. While this method has been the assumption in almost every seminary curriculum, the actual effects of this approach to Scripture have hardly been examined. From studying the biblical studies courses at ten different seminaries and divinity schools, Dale Martin learned what faculties were doing and what students were hearing. This book presents his discoveries, offering the best-ever inside look into the teaching of the Bible for ministry. Going beyond mere description, Martin argues for a new emphasis on interpreting Scripture within the context of church history and theology. Such a reading would be more theological, more integrated into the whole theological curriculum, and more theoretical (as it would focus on whats at stake in interpretation); however, Martin surprisingly argues, it would be more practical at the same time.

    • What If Jesus Had Never Been Born

      $19.99

One powerful truth is undeniable: if Christ had never been born, nearly every facet of human life would be worse. Discover what the world would have been like without Jesus, and how some of the world’s greatest accomplishments exist only because he lived.

We live in a cynical age in which only one prejudice is tolerated: anti-Christian bigotry. Yet despite the near constant and attacks against the faith, one powerful truth is undeniable: if Christ had never been born, nearly every aspect of human life would be much more miserable than it is today.

In What if Jesus Had Never Been Born?, discover:

*Christianity’s impact on the value of human life, helping the poor, and education
*Christianity’s impact on world history and the founding of America
*Christianity’s contribution to civil liberties, science, medicine, and economics
      *Lives changed by Jesus Christ

The author also examines what happens in a world without Christianity, as well as fulfilling the purpose of believers as we move forward.

Arranged topically and presenting compelling, little-known historical facts, What If Jesus Had Never Been Born? clearly demonstrates that an enormous benefits to humankind–from economics to art to government, science to civil liberties, morality to health, and beyond–would never have occurred had Jesus Christ not lived.

      $24.36

In John 5:39 and 46, Yeshua (Jesus) emphatically stated that the Torah was written about Him! Furthermore, in Luke 24:27 and 44-47, He stated that the following truths were prophesied in the Torah, the Prophets and the Psalms: He would suffer, die, be buried in the grave, resurrected, and finally, repentance and remission of sins would be preached in His name among the nations. With Yeshua’s statements in mind, would you be able to find one such prophecy? Unfortunately, most who believe that Yeshua is the Messiah are hard pressed to point to any such prophecies. Even so, The Scroll of the Gospel of David will introduce you to an entire world of Messianic prophecy in the Old Testament and will help you understand how the death, burial and resurrection of Yeshua in three days is the most prophesied event in the Old Testament!

    • Psalm For Every Sigh

      $16.18

At the literal center of every Bible is the book of Psalms. Just as the heart is the symbolic center of human emotion, the psalms contain some of the most emotional passages in all of scripture, from the heights of jubilant praise to the depths of despair and mourning. All of us, to some degree, can relate to the psalms.

A Psalm for Every Sigh is a collection of observations and musings on specific psalms. Each psalm relates to various aspects of the human experience, from the peace and tranquility of Psalm 23, or the penitence and confession of Psalm 32, to our awe and wonder at beholding God’s creation in Psalm 8. A Psalm for Every Sigh relates the emotions portrayed in each selected psalm to the emotions we experience in our world today. This is a valuable addition to any personal or group Bible study.
While much of the world is different today than in the time of David and the other psalm writers, the joy, the pain, the anguish, and the exultation are still the same. That is why the psalms still carry such a powerful impact thousands of years after they were written.
