    • Read The Bible Smarter Not Harder

      $24.99

      IVP Print On Demand Title

There is an increasing recognition that we need to engage the Bible as a collection of books. But we haven’t been taught to read or study the Bible on the book level. Almost all of our approaches to the Bible are based on chapters, verses, or sections, so how do we change this? The units of meaning in the Bible are not chapters, or verses, or topical sections, but the literary compositions that God inspired to create the Scriptures. If we want to know the meaning of God’s word, we need to engage these compositions on their own terms. This means understanding why they were written, what kind of writing they are, how they are put together, and what major themes and ideas they develop and pursue. This book answers these questions for each of the books in the Bible by presenting expanded versions of the book introductions included in The Books of The Bible, an edition of the Scriptures from Biblica that presents the biblical books in their natural literary form, without chapters and verses.

    • Parallel Lives Of Jesus

      $38.00

In this highly readable introduction to the Gospels, Edward Adams demonstrates how the four canonical Gospels function separately-as unique accounts of Jesus’ life-and as narrative renditions of a shared story: the Fourfold Gospel. Building on the premise that the Gospels are ancient biographies or “lives of Jesus,” Adams examines parallel Gospel passages, highlighting the similarities and differences between them. He begins by approaching the four Gospels generally, then looks at each of them individually, and finally considers six key Gospel passages to further explore the unity and plurality of the Gospels in a more focused way. Adams’s lucid prose helps to make this text ideal for beginning students of the Gospels.

    • Reading The Bible For All The Wrong Reasons

      $28.31

The Bible can be hazardous to one’s health if read with faulty expectations. Writing with compassion and wit, Russell Pregeant shows that reading “without interpretation” is impossible. The right question is which assumptions are appropriate. He addresses the most common and most harmful assumptions about the Bible, beginning with the expectation that it will always “speak” as directly and immediately as a fortune cookie. He moves on to address biblical authority, the Bible and science, “last days” prophecies, and the Bible as rulebook and guide to beliefs. Pregeant insists that we take responsibility for what we do with this powerful book.

    • Beginning And End Of Wisdom

      $25.00

These explications show how the gospel shines out in the first and last chapters of the Old Testament Wisdom Literature. The wisdom literature of the Old Testament can be daunting. Sidney Greidanus, in the book’s foreword, describes Old Testament wisdom literature as “one of the more difficult genres to interpret and preach.” Yet the numerous proverbs and sayings meet us in everyday life, teaching us much about understanding and applying the gospel. Pastor Douglas O’Donnell writes, “Just as every book of the Old Testament adds light to our understanding of Jesus, so the revelation of God in the person of Christ enlightens our understanding of the Old Testament.” Not only do the wisdom books teach us about Jesus Christ, but we understand the books better in light of the revelation of God’s Son. O’Donnell opens up the genre of wisdom literature through six chapters that look at how the gospel shines through Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job. He specifically centers on the first and last chapters of each book, noting how the texts illustrate “the wisdom of God in the sufferings of our Savior.” Pastors, church leaders, and students of Scripture will find this thoughtful volume demonstrative of seeing the gospel in the Wisdom Literature.

When the book of Acts is mentioned, a cluster of issues spring to mind, including speaking in tongues and baptism with the Holy Spirit, church government and practice, and missionary methods and strategies. At the popular level, Acts is more often mined for answers to contemporary debates than heard for its natural inflections.

Instead of using Acts as a prooftext, this New Studies in Biblical Theology volume brings a biblical-theological framework to the account to expose Luke’s major themes as they relate to the book as a whole. With this framework in place, Alan Thompson argues that Acts is an account of the ‘continuing story’ of God’s saving purposes. Consequently we find that Luke wants to be read in light of the Old Testament promises and the continuing reign of Christ in the inaugurated kingdom.

Read in this way as a snapshot of God’s dynamic, unfolding kingdom, the book of Acts begins to regain the deep relevance it had in the first century.

Addressing key issues in biblical theology, the works comprising New Studies in Biblical Theology are creative attempts to help Christians better understand their Bibles. The NSBT series is edited by D. A. Carson, aiming to simultaneously instruct and to edify, to interact with current scholarship and to point the way ahead.

    • How To Read The Bible In Changing Times

      $23.52

Many find it difficult to take words that were written thousands of years ago and apply them to twenty-first-century life in the Western world. How do we read God’s unchanging Word in a world that is increasingly defined by change?

How to Read the Bible in Changing Times shows everyday Christians how to interpret and apply the Scriptures regardless of time and culture. Rather than seeing the Bible as a magic answer book, a list of commands to obey, or a series of promises to claim, this insightful book allows the Bible to retain its identity as a complex, inspired document while showing that the truth it contains is relevant and life-changing. It shows the reader how to:
*determine the meaning of the text in its original context
      *identify culturally relative features
*understand what the text teaches about God, his will, and his purposes
*apply the truths discovered to contemporary life situations

It even shows readers how to discern God’s will on the many modern issues that the Bible does not directly address.

      Additional Info
This completely revised new edition not only interweaves updates and refinements throughout but also adds two entirely new chapters, on Jonah, Job, and Daniel; and on the Psalms. As was true of the first edition, God’s Healing Strategy, Revised Edition, portrays God’s persevering love as the heart of the Bible’s message. Without losing sight of the details, this short but thorough book identifies God’s healing love as the central theme of the Bible and challenges Christians to let that love shape lives today. Lynn Jost, Vice President and Dean of Fresno Biblical Seminary, says that “The revisions are spot-on for contemporary issues. How do Christian believers relate to other faiths? Where is God when life falls apart? The Bible wrestles with those questions without pat answers. This book puts us in touch with that biblical struggle.” Commenting on the first edition, Douglas B. Miller, Professor of Biblical and Religious Studies, Tabor College, observes that “Grimsrud has written an excellent introduction to the Bible from an Anabaptist/liberationist perspective. The studied breadth and depth of the book make it ideal as an introductory high school or college text or for use in adult Christian education.”

The Book of Revelation is not a book of doom and gloom but the victory of the Lamb of God and those who follow Him-The Overcomers. In this groundbreaking three-volume series, Dr. Richard Booker helps you understand the Book of Revelation by explaining John’s vision within its intriguing original historical, literary, and biblical context. This three-volume series gives a more balanced understanding of the book of Revelation by emphasizing the background and setting in which John received and wrote his revelation. The author explains how this background information actually determined the words that Jesus and John used in what became the book of Revelation. Without this background information, it is really impossible to understand why Jesus and John said what they said. The author connects this background information and the message in the book of Revelation with a prophetic word to our world today. In this regard, this is a groundbreaking series on the book of Revelation.

    • Created In Christ Jesus For Good Works

      $49.98

The relationship between the so-called ‘theological’ (Eph 1 – 3) and ‘paraenetic’ (Eph 4-6) sections of Ephesians has been a matter of extensive scholarly discussion. Central to the debate is the question whether the ethical material found in Ephesians 4-6 is an integral part of the theological statements in Ephesians 1-3, or whether it is merely an appendage with its own self-contained theology. This study undertakes a fresh investigation into the relationship between the ‘theological’ and ‘paraenetic’ sections of Ephesians. It demonstrates the intrinsic integration of both parts of the letter by examining the soteriological pattern of Ephesians, and how salvation entails the moral social transformation of believers; this, in turn, renders meaningless the category-distinction between ‘theology’ and ‘ethics’.

      $19.99

Examines the biblical-theological evidence for a real Adam and Eve and asserts their importance for modern life.”We need a real Adam and Eve if we are to make sense of the Bible and of life,” argues C. John Collins. Examining the biblical storyline as the worldview story of the people of God, Collins shows how that story presupposes a real Adam and Eve and how the modern experience of human life points to the same conclusion.

Applying well-informed critical thinking to questions raised by theologians and scientists alike, Collins asserts that only a real man could participate in God’s plan to use his human partners to bring blessing to the whole creation, a blessing that requires “redemption” for all people since sin entered the world. Did Adam and Eve Really Exist? addresses both biblical and Jewish texts and contains extensive appendices to examine how the material in Genesis relates to similar material from Mesopotamian myths. Collins’s detailed analysis of the relevant texts will instill confidence in readers that the traditional Christian story equips them better than any alternatives to engage the life that they actually encounter in the modern world.

      $21.99

The story of God written in intimate love letters just for you.Dr. Larry Crabb knows that if we could see the larger story of God and humanity, our world would never be the same. That story is found in large part in the sixty-six letters of the Bible. Written in a conversational first person, as if God is speaking directly to us, Dr. Crabb looks at each individual book in scripture and offers a fresh, relational look at the book’s message. He then unpacks each message in a short chapter answering the question, What does God want me to hear from this love letter? The book’s epilogue then fits all sixty-six pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together into one coherent story, in sixty-six paragraphs, revealing the beautiful picture of what God has been about since the creation of the world. Far from being comprehensive, this is a personal approach to helping readers know God and His great love for them, His message for all mankind, and how their lives fit into His larger story.

    • Redeeming Sociology : A God Centered Approach

      $30.00

A biblical framework for considering the foundation of human relationships, leading to a rethinking of the discipline of sociology. Interpersonal relationships are possible for humans because we are created in the image of a Trinitarian God. But if the Trinity is our model for relationships, why is the human condition rife with pain and evil? How are we to think correctly about fallen human relationships and our models for understanding them? Redeeming Sociology advocates a biblically informed model for human relationships-relationships rooted in the Trinitarian character of God, his governance of the world, and his redemption accomplished in Christ. Poythress examines how the breaking of relationships through sin leads to strife, murder, and oppression among human beings and sets cultures against one another. And he shows how these broken relationships are restored through the outworking of redemption in Christ. Though typical sociological models for interpersonal relationships may offer some valuable insights, they are handicapped by a fundamental misunderstanding of humanity. The biblical model that Poythress presents correctly diagnoses the problem of human relationships, so it can likewise prescribe a biblical solution that infuses new meaning and power into how we relate to others made in the image of God.

JESUS IS COMING AGAIN SOON, BUT WILL HE COME BACK AFTER THE GREAT TRIBULATION AND THE MANIFESTATION OF THE ANTICHRIST OR BEFORE?

If He is coming back after the great tribulation then we need to prepare. This book presents detailed Scriptural evidence that proves that the second coming of Jesus Christ and the rapture of the Church occur after the great tribulation.

After presenting evidence for the posttribulational rapture, the author then procedes to describe what that period of time might be like. He explores answers to questions such as the meaning of 666, the nature of the mark of the beast, how it might be possible for the antichrist to rise from the dead, and the kind of technology that might allow a remnant of the world’s population to escape from his clutches.

The author then presents a plan to strengthen the church in order to prepare it for those end time events. This involves combining the best features of several of the existing movements within conservative Christianity. He also explores the role which government could play in protecting the church in enclaves throughout the world.

No Christian should consider himself a serious student of prophecy without first examining the evidence presented in this book for the posttribulational rapture and considering the challenge the author presents to prepare to serve our Lord during that special time.

    • Biblical History And Israels Past

      $49.99

Although scholars have for centuries primarily been interested in using the study of ancient Israel to explain, illuminate, and clarify the biblical story, Megan Bishop Moore and Brad E. Kelle describe how scholars today seek more and more to tell the story of the past on its own terms, drawing from both biblical and extrabiblical sources to illuminate ancient Israel and its neighbors without privileging the biblical perspective. Biblical History and Israel’s Past provides a comprehensive survey of how study of the Old Testament and the history of Israel has changed since the middle of the twentieth century. Moore and Kelle discuss significant trends in scholarship, trace the development of ideas since the 1970s, and summarize major scholars, viewpoints, issues, and developments.

      $33.99

Ancient Judaism questions a broad range of basic assumptions made by students of Second Temple Judaism and calls for a radical rethinking of approaches to Jewish history studies. Michael Stone challenges theologically conditioned histories of ancient Judaism devised by later orthodoxies, whether Jewish or Christian, and he stresses the importance of understanding religious experience as a major factor in the composition of ancient religious documents. Addressing the Dead Sea Scrolls and apocalyptic literature as well as recent theories, Stone emphasizes the stunning complexity of both the raw data and the resulting picture of Judaism in antiquity.

    • Biblical Theology Of The Old And New Testaments

      $73.33

This monumental work is the first comprehensive biblical theology to appear in many years and is the culmination of Brevard Child’s lifelong commitment to constructing a biblical theology that surmounts objections to the discipline raised over the past generation.

Childs rejects any approaches that overstress either the continuity or discontinuity between the Old and New Testaments. He refuses to follow the common pattern in Christian thought of identifying biblical theology with the New Testament’s interest in the Old. Rather, Childs maps out an approach that reflects on the whole Christian Bible with its two very different voices, each of which retains continuing integrity and is heard on its own terms.

    • Traditions Of The Rabbis From The Era Of The New Testament Volume 2A

      $65.99

The second volume of early rabbinic traditions and their relevance to the New Testament

In this second volume of his monumental study of early rabbinic traditions and their relevance to the New Testament, David Instone-Brewer provides significant insights into Jewish thought and practice prior to the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 c.e.

For each rabbinic tradition considered — here, the Feasts and Sabbaths — the supporting Hebrew source text is provided side by side with an English translation. Instone-Brewer also presents evidence that exists for accurately dating these sources, which is a critical task recently advanced by modern dating techniques. He goes on to thoroughly discuss the meaning and importance of each rabbinic tradition for Second Temple Judaism, also analyzing any echoes or direct appearances of the tradition in the New Testament writings.

What is a “biblical scholar”? Stephen D. Moore and Yvonne Sherwood provide a thoroughly defamiliarizing and frequently entertaining re-description of this peculiar academic species and its odd disciplinary habitat. The modern-and -biblical scholar, they argue, is a product of the Enlightenment. Even when a biblical scholar imagines that she is doing something else entirely (something confessional, theoretical, literary, or even postmodern), she is sustaining Enlightened modernity and its effects. This study poses questions for scholars across the humanities concerned with the question of the religious and the secular. It also poses pressing questions for scholars and students of biblical interpretation: What other forms might biblical criticism have taken? What untried forms might biblical criticism yet take?

The book of Jonah is arguably just as jarring for us as it was for the ancients. Ninevah’s repentance, Jonah’s estrangement from God and the book’s bracing moral conclusion all pose unsettling questions for today’s readers. For biblical theologians, Jonah also raises tough questions regarding mission and religious conversion. Here, Daniel Timmer embarks on a new reading of Jonah in order to secure its ongoing relevance for biblical theology. After an examination of the book?s historical backgrounds (in both Israel and Assyria), Timmer discusses the biblical text in detail, paying special attention to redemptive history and its Christocentric orientation. Timmer then explores the relationship between Israel and the nations–including the question of mission–and the nature of religious conversion and spirituality in the Old Testament. The study concludes with an injuction for scholars and lay readers to approach Jonah as a book written to facilitate spiritual change in the reader.

    • Outline Of New Testament Spirituality

      $21.99

It has become commonplace in contemporary culture to divorce spirituality from religion and regard the two as separate, competing entities. Yet Prosper Grech, an Augustinian father and professor of early Christian literature, recognizes no such distinction. The Christian religion, he finds, is infused with spirituality – which he defines not in a New Age sense but rather as “the believer’s full response to God’s offer of salvation in Christ.” In this book Grech presents the essential spiritual themes of Christian belief for meditation by any who seek to live out their Christian faith in its fullness.

In his compact Outline of New Testament Spirituality Grech considers a wealth of biblical texts, including Genesis, the Psalms, the Synoptic Gospels, Paul’s epistles, the letter to the Hebrews, and John’s Gospel, letters, and Apocalypse. He uncovers the New Testament church’s spiritual response to God’s gifts in each of these texts: its inherited response to God’s Old Testament covenant with Israel; its response to Jesus’ preaching, to the Paschal mystery of his death and resurrection, and to Christ the Light of the World; its response to its own place in history displayed in Acts and Revelation.

Weaving these various theological strands together, Grech traces the contours of a dynamic yet contemplative Christian spirituality – one that not only saturated the New Testament church but also continues to animate Christian life today.

Walter Brueggemann has been one of the leading voices in Hebrew Bible interpretation for decades. Brueggemann turns his critical erudition to those practices-prophecy, lament, prayer, faithful imagination, and a holy economics-that alone may usher in a humane and peaceful future for our cities and our world, in defiance of the most ruthless aspects of capitalism, the arrogance of militarism, and the disciplines of the national security state.

      Additional Info
This volume highlights points of agreement and disagreement between two leading scholars on the subject of the textual reliability of the New Testament: Bart Ehrman, James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and author of the best-selling book Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why, and Daniel Wallace, Professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and Executive Director of the Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts.

This conversation between Ehrman and Wallace allows the reader to see in print how each presents his position in light of the other’s. Contributions follow from an interdisciplinary team featuring specialists in biblical studies, philosophy, and theology. The textual reliability of the New Testament is logically prior to its interpretation and thus important for the Christian religion. This book provides interested readers a fair and balanced case for both sides and allows them to decide for themselves: What does it mean for a text to be textually reliable? How reliable is the New Testament? How reliable is reliable enough?

      $22.99

His father and mother were amazed at what was being said about Him. Luke 2:33 “Everyone was amazed at all the things He was doing.” Luke 9:43 “He went home, amazed at what had happened.” Luke 24:12 From start to finish, the book of Luke is filled with amazement. Throughout the life and ministry of Jesus, those who met him were astonished by their encounter, from the shepherds at the nativity to the disciples at the empty tomb. With careful attention to detail, Michael Card embarks on an imaginative journey through the Gospel of Luke. He introduces us to Luke the historian and imagines his life as a Gentile, a doctor and a slave. Card explores Lukes compelling account of this dynamic rabbi who astounded his hearers with parables and paradoxes. What might Luke have experienced as he interviewed eyewitnesses of Jesus? What leads Luke to focus on the marginalized and the unlikely? Why does Luke include certain details that the other Gospel writers omit? • SOS : Seven Open Seals From God

      $24.98

The book of Revelation is one of the most intriguing books ever written. It contains many strange imageries. Unfortunately, most writers have given a literal interpretation to these imageries, causing much confusion. Instead of making the book more understandable, for multitudes of people writers have made the book more frightening. Consequently, the overwhelming majority of people don’t believe we will ever understand the original intended message of the book of Revelation. This is unfortunate because God WANTS us to understand His message. That is why it exists. Revelation 1:1 says ‘God sent and signified’. The greek word for signified (semaino) literally means ‘to cause to be specific and clear’. God has something to say to us and He WANTS His message to be specific and clear. This book will accomplish that for you.

We use imageries every day, expressions like ‘thrown under the bus’, ‘step up to the plate’, or ‘smoking gun’. Imagine the confusion that would result if we tried to literalize these expressions in our conversations. The context of our conversation helps us to rightly apply these expressions. That is why this book will help you to understand the book of Revelation. This book begins by scripturally identifying the context of the book, then progresses forward to scripturally unravel the metaphoric meanings of the symbolic imageries. The result is a practical, understandable, relevant message from God pertaining to our day.

“Although the field of biblical studies is bursting with new methods and fresh interpretations, there has been surprisingly little discussion of what these changes mean for the actual task of teaching the Bible. Happily, this volume takes significant first steps in addressing the shifts in classroom pedagogy that the new day in biblical studies urgently demands.”
Norman K. Gottwald, Author of The Hebrew Bible: A Brief Socio-Literary Introduction

“An absolutely indispensable compendium of resources for charting the changes in the discipline of biblical studies, for exposing the operations of power in past and present interpretations and uses of the Bible, and for discovering a variety of postmodernist and postcolonial pedagogies in the reading and teaching of the Bible in a radically pluralistic age.”

Unpacks the concept of work and its relationship to rest, play, and worship, showing the place of work in the normal cycle of human life

      $35.99

John For Today, like the author’s earlier best-selling book Paul for Today, combines fresh accessible scholarship with an exploration of the gospel’s significance for the contemporary Church and wider world. The Gospel’s historical origins, distinctive features and literary patterns are all helpfully illuminated, including John’s similarities with and differences from the other Gospels and the much-debated question of the Gospel’s real author. Recent criticisms of the Gospel, such as its exclusiveness, alleged anti-semitism and predominantly male characters and language are also examined, together with its relevance for a turbulent world in which religion has become a deeply ambivalent phenomenon. The book seeks to be faithful to the gospel of John in the central position it accords to Jesus, whilst also relating this controversial gospel to the Christian orthodoxy of later centuries. It is a book written for the non-specialist reader, and ‘for such a time as this’.

      $21.23

God teaches and speaks to people through the Bible. This book will teach and inspire Christians to read the Bible and respond with their lives. In Reading Through Matthew, Encountering God, I demonstrate my method of Bible reading, journaling, and prayer. This Dynamic Bible Reading, as I call it, involves reading a small Bible passage and journaling the believer’s interaction with that passage through three distinct sections; (1) Scripture Insight: the meaning of the passage, (2) Application: how to apply the meaning to life, and (3) Prayer: seeking God’s guidance in living out what the passage teaches. To best draw the meaning of Scripture into our lives, we must read it, work through its meaning, and begin to practice it in life. This book helps to develop these skills. Once gained, I hope each reader will pass this book on to someone else who might benefit from it.

    • Isaiah Homiletics Workbook

      $37.26

Homiletics can be done on any book of the Bible, and any chapter of the Bible. It is a way to break down the Scripture to understand it’s meaning. First, as God Himself said in His Word one must have the Holy Spirit to understand the Scripture. In II Corinthians 2:14 the Lord talks about the man without the Spirit of God indwelling him or her and how they are Spiritually discerned. So, the first step in understanding God’s Word is to have Him through His Holy Spirit indwelling you. The Scripture is very clear about how this is done, there is only One way. In John 14, Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life and no man can come to the Father except through Me.” Belief in the Lord Jesus Christ as being God’s perfect Lamb who has taken away the sin of the world is the only way one can be saved from the wrath of God and have His Spirit come to dwell within. Once you have His Holy Spirit indwelling you, then you have the One who wrote it living inside you to teach you its exact meaning and how to apply the Holy Scriptures to your life. Homiletics is an excellent way to spend time with the Father and let Him teach you his word. In doing Homiletics you will break the passage down into content, division sentences, a subject sentence, an overall aim of this passage, and then application questions to apply the Scripture to your life.

    • Discovering Jesus : Why Four Gospels To Portray One Person

      $16.99

An introductory guide to the four Gospels, showing how each differs in what it emphasizes about the nature and ministry of Jesus Christ. If asked how Matthew’s Gospel differs from Luke’s, or what aspects of Jesus’ personhood and ministry the Gospel of Mark focuses on compared to those of John, how would you answer? In Discovering Jesus, T. D. Alexander sets out to help readers understand how each Gospel account is uniquely written and why all four are important for having a rich picture of the person of Jesus Christ.  Alexander guides readers to see how the Gospels display Jesus as the Son of David who establishes the kingdom of God, the Son of God who suffers to ransom others, the Savior of the world who seeks the lost, and the Lamb of God who brings eternal life through a new exodus. Each chapter ends with discussion questions for individual or group study.

    • Ecology Of The New Testament

      $28.99

      IVP Print On Demand Title

God is the Creator of all and cares deeply for all that he has made. His vision for creation is seen through a world teeming with life where eternity is breathed into and through all creation. Jesus teaches that humans must live with a spirit of generosity and restraint; however, a spirit of meanness and greed dominates human culture and leaves nearly 1.3 billion people living on less than $1 a day.

The politics of globalization based on principles of greed have resulted in the loss of biodiversity, deforestation, and a shortage of food and clean water. Jesus teaches that those who are generous are blessed, and such generosity brings justice to all creation. There cannot be God’s social justice without ecological sanity, and yet we tend to speak of social justice as though non-human creation doesn’t matter. God cares even for the flowers of the field, yet we show contempt for God in our careless plunder of his creation. To love God is to love all that he has made, from our own families to the soil outside our homes.

Lunde presents a view of Christian discipleship that is grounded in an informed Christology of Jesus, the Servant King.

    • Devil From The Beginning

      $21.86

Let me ask you a question, who is the Antichrist? Have you ever tried to figure out the answer to this question? If you’re like the average person who understands the days we are living in, this question has probably crossed your mind a time or two. I have been asked this very question for a few years now by many different people along life’s road. God in his mercy has saw fit to give me the answer to this question, and I am so grateful for it. Through much study and hours upon hours of research God has cleared up this debate through the publication of this book. There are so many opinions on who the Antichrist is, but most fail to line up with the Bible. Many people have even written books on this subject through the years, and they are good books, but at the books end they never really answer this question, and they still leave you guessing. My goal in writing this book was to give the public a clear and accurate answer from the Bible that once and for all settles the question of who is the Antichrist.
I promise you one thing, if you read this entire book, you will find it impossible to deny who the Antichrist is. There are hundreds of Bible verses contained within this book that will expose this man of destiny. Please allow God’s Holy Spirit to speak to your heart as He has spoken to mine. This book will shock you, excite you, and provide many answers concerning this topic. I pray that God will open your eyes as a result of this study, and show you that the end is near, and JESUS is getting ready to come.

      Additional Info
Refuting a false dichotomy between “politics” and “religion” in Jesus’ world (and our own), Jesus and the Powers rediscovers Jesus’ response to the imperial power of his day. Richard A. Horsley describes the relevance of political realities under great empires for understanding the rise of covenantal theology and apocalyptic vision in Israel’s history. Then he explores aspects of Jesus’ activity in the context of the Roman Empire. Horsley examines Jesus as an exorcist and prophetic figure and the character of his death by crucifixion. He also shows how the community life in the early Pauline assemblies gave form to a new response to imperial powers – and stimulus to contemporary readers to re-imagine their own response to political realities in our own day.

      $56.66

While scholars of the New Testament and its Roman environment have recently focused attention on ethnicity and gender, the two questions have often been discussed separately – and without reference to the contemporary critical study of race theory. This interdisciplinary volume addresses this lack by drawing together new essays by prominent scholars in the fields of New Testament, classics, and Jewish studies. These essays examine the intersection of three worlds: first, the construction of gender and race under the Roman Empire; second, the crucible of nineteenth-century thinking about race and empire in which New Testament and classical studies were given definitive form; and third, the contemporary theoretical frameworks and methods that hold greatest promise for a renewed understanding of the New Testament and early Christian history.

    • Resurrection Of Jesus

      $60.99

The question of the historicity of Jesus’ resurrection has been repeatedly probed, investigated and debated. And the results have varied widely. Perhaps some now regard this issue as the burned-over district of New Testament scholarship, while others have come to believe that we simply do not have th adequate methods to make the controversial results of the field of any use. Could there be any new and promising approach to this problem?

Yes, answers Michael Licona. And in The Resurrection of Jesus: A Historiographical Approach he convincingly points us to a significant deficiency in approaching this question: our historiographical orientation and practice.

So he opens this study with an extensive consideration of historiography in general, and the particular problem of investigating claims of miracles. This alone is a valuable contribution to the ongoing struggle for methodoloical viability in historical Jesus scholarship.

But then Licona carefully applies his principles and methods to the question of Jesus’ resurrection. In addition to determining and working from the most reliable sources and foundational historical evidence, Licona critically weighs tegh viability of others’ prominent hypotheses.

His own argument is a challenging and closely argued case for the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ. Any future approaches to dealing with this “prize puzzle” of New Testament study will need to be routed through The Resurrection of Jesus.

    • Images Of Salvation In The New Testament

      $38.99

What does salvation in the New Testament look like? “The New Testament does not develop a systematic doctrine of salvation,” writes Brenda Colijn. “Instead, it presents us with a variety of pictures taken from different perspectives. From one angle, the human predicament is rebellion against God. Salvation looks like living under God’s universal reign. From another angle, the human predicament is bondage to both internal and external forces. Salvation looks like freedom from those forces. From yet a third angle, the human predicament looks like alienation from God, from other people, from creation and even from one’s own best self. Salvation looks like the restoration of those relationships.” Colijn, who holds degrees in English literature as well as theology, embraces a critical-realist methodology that incorporates New Testament theology, literary criticism and theological interpretation. She advocates listening to the individual authors of Scripture in their own social-cultural and historical settings, while looking for how the texts work both individually and collectively at a literary level. Students of the New Testament and of theology will both find their vision broadened and their understanding deepened by this rich, informative study. As the author seeks to understand their implications for people of faith, she uncovers how New Testament images provide the building blocks of the master story of redemption.

The great mystery of the human condition and God’s action to save us is too vast to be contained in a single image or one kind of language. Since the time that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour in 1976, I have heard it said that He was the focus of the Bible. I have never doubted that. I have heard it said that Jesus Christ was the subject of each book of the Bible, including the Old Testament. This book is proof that Jesus Christ can be found in each book of the Old Testament. What is the benefit of this approach? The Lord Jesus Christ becomes more precious to our souls as we encounter the varied facets of His Person. This is one of the most vexing questions in Christian life and theology. Terence Fretheim offers fresh readings of familiar Old Testament passages–such as creation, the flood, and the suffering of Job–to give readers biblical resources for working through this topic. He shows the God of the Bible to be a compassionate, suffering, relational God, one we can turn to in prayer in times of disaster.

    • Neat Jewish Stuff For Christians

      $19.36

Have you ever wondered why the Bible is so, well, Jewish?

God revealed His character and his plan for the world through His chosen people, the Jews. It was through the line of Abraham that the Bible was written. It was from this same line that Jesus was born. It was from the Jews that Jesus called his disciples, and out of Judaism the early church was born.

Neat Jewish Stuff for Christians reveals many facets of ancient Jewish religious and cultural life which Jesus used to help His listeners understand His teachings. Through understanding these rites and customs, God’s plan for drawing us into relationship with Him is revealed.

Neat Jewish Stuff for Christians brings the reader to a better understanding of the Jewish roots of the Christian faith and the message of Jesus. Questions for discussion are included after each chapter. As Dr. Teitelbaum sums up: “Christians grow in worshipful appreciation of Jesus when His roots in Judaism are understood.”

    • Return To Me My Love

      $26.23

“Return to Me, My Love” is an in-depth look at the end-times’ prophecies concerning the Jews and Israel as seen through the eyes of St. John, the Revelator. Most books on the Revelation attempt to interpret what John was trying to say but contend that he couldn’t find the correct words to describe the visions he was given. Such interpretations are not very helpful in the understanding the Revelation or the entire panoply of end-times prophecy for that matter. The Revelation defines and explains each of the terms it uses if the reader will carefully consider John’s words in light of all the prophecies of the Old and New Testaments taken together as a whole. This book does exactly that! It is a literal approach to the study of Prophecy. Over 500 pages of additional research materials are available on-line to prove what is contained in the book!

In “Return to Me, My Love,” the author assumes the role of St. John as he explains each verse of the Revelation to his reading audience and shows them how it foretells the entire counsel of God concerning the Last Days. In this book, the reader will be shown how God took the people of Israel as his wife but, after bearing with their centuries of apostasy against him, he finally wrote them a Bill of Divorce and sent them away. Yet, the Lord was not done with Israel, and just as he wrote in Hosea, he was determined to allure her and eventually bring her back to him.

We are seeing that story being played out as we watch the modern State of Israel struggle without her Messiah, Jesus. The Tribulation that is coming in last-days’ Israel will be God’s way of testing his Jewish people, purging the nation of its apostasy, and taking back the remnant of his Chosen People to be his wife-hence the title of the book. This is a must read and is unlike anything currently available on prophecy. Every Christian needs to understand prophecy in order to be ready to assist the Jews when their time of trial begins.

    • Fallen Man : And Gods Work Of Bringing Fallen Man Out Of A Horrible Pit

      $21.23

      Chapter 1: Unfallen Man
Chapter 2: The Fall Of Man (Part One)
      Chapter 3: What About Babies?

      Additional Info
      Chapter 1: Unfallen Man
Even though God’s creation, including man, was sinless, beautiful, orderly and perfect, it was not absolutely perfect. Creation had the potential to become better or worse. It was not absolutely perfect like God, for God is absolutely perfect and unchanging. He cannot get better, nor can He become imperfect or less than what He is, for He is the Lord and does not change (Mal. 3:6).

Chapter 2: The Fall of Man (Part One)
If the tree of knowledge of good and evil was good, and there was nothing sinful or evil about it, why did God call it the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? Why didn’t He call it the tree of the knowledge of good?

      Chapter 3: What About Babies?
What happens to babies when they die? Almost all-if not all-Christians have asked about the destiny of babies. I know that I certainly have. Maybe you have, too. Unfortunately, the Scripture does not have much to say on the subject. Yet there is one classic passage in the Old Testament that does hint at the answer.

    • Mount Sinai : Its Location Using Biblical Clues

      $16.86

Mount Sinai, where Moses received the ten commandments has been lost for about 2,500 years. Isaiah 2:2,3 tells us that in the last days Mount Sinai will be found. Many mountains have been proposed as the “real” Mount Sinai. However, do any meet the biblical clues? What route would the Israelites have taken? How would they obtain water for 600,000 in the desert? What time of year did they leave? What was the weather at that time? Where are the other proposed mountains? Where did Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro live? Would Jethro speak Egyptian and would Moses be able to speak another language to have communicated with Jethro’s daughter? These are some of the questions answered in this book.

    • Ransom : The High Cost Of Sin

      $29.98

Discover the truth about sin every Christian must know.

If you think you understand sin, think again. RANSOM: The High Cost of Sin from Dean H. Harvey reframes this most important Christian concept for an eye-opening book that will change your relationship with God.

Built on solid Scripture, Ransom shows how our self-centered focus on big sins-how they affect us in the here and now-is fundamentally misplaced. Rather, Harvey explains how the primary consequence of sin is to God-in the form of a broken heart. The secondary cost of sin is to the sinner-in his current life and the one to come. Third in line are those around us, who are all affected by our sins in some way. And finally, the highest cost of sin is that it emptied Heaven of its best to provide a ransom on the cross-in order to bring “so great salvation to all sinners who would repent and turn from sin.

Straightforward and easy to understand, Ransom is a must read for anyone looking to more fully understand the bible and its remarkable insight for living a Christian life.
