Milk For Babes
$17.49Add to cart“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” (1 Peter 2:2-3) “The title and subject matter of this book,” says Anne Murchison, “arose out of my own need for follow-up material for new Christians who have no classes readily available to them.” Anne discovered the lack of a Christian “primer” through her own experiences as a new Christian, and as she attempted to share her faith with non-Christian friends and with classes of new believers put in her care. Consequently she has written this basic, yet thorough study which provides the tools for laying a sure foundation for faith. The author addresses these and other queries so often posed by beginning Christians and curious unbelievers. What is God’s nature-what’s he like? Who is Satan? What about those who never hear of Jesus? The Trinity-how can three be one? What is sin? “Whether you are a nonbeliever or a believer in Jesus Christ,” states Tom Landry in his preface, “the challenge of Christianity brings up questions that need answering. Anne Murchison has used these questions as topics for her study guide. She has allowed the Word of God, the Bible, to answer these questions. . . . “I encourage you to use this book as a study guide for your time in the Bible. The Holy Spirit will reveal to you only what you are able to handle. As you continue to grow and mature as a Christian, God will continue to reveal new truths that will enable you to fully enjoy the ‘peace that passes all understanding.”

Stubborn Theological Questions
$35.99Add to cartThis text addresses three main questions: how we should think and speak about God in a changing and largely secularized world; the nature of the person and incarnation of Jesus Christ – is he fully man and fully God?; and how does a theologian know about God and the destiny of man? It addresses issues such as: the suffering of God; the Cosmic Christ; the pre-existence of Jesus Christ; and the development of the Christian doctrine, as well as presenting the history of those groups and individuals who advanced the discussion of such questions.

Ethics And The Old Testament (Student/Study Guide)
$27.00Add to cart“Establishing the relevance of Old Testament ethics to contemporary life is, as Barton concedes, an uphill task. For many Christians today – let alone those with no religious commitment – to find some way of accommodating them into a coherent moral system by which to live in the 21st century seems at best implausible and at worst ridiculous or even immoral. However, Barton is convinced that in many areas of ethical enquiry the Old Testament has much to teach us, and he argues his case in this new edition of “”Ethics and the Old Testament””. He looks again at the Ten Commandments; the narrative about David and his children; the ethical issue of ecology; sexual morality and property; human morality as the express command of God; and the motivation for moral conduct. An additional chapter offers fresh views about the value of Old Testament ethics in discussions on human dignity. Barton’s aim is to show that although the Old Testament comes from a remote, alien and apparently unsophisticated context, the powerful minds who

Memories Of Bliss
$35.99Add to cart“Written by the author of “”Fat is a Spiritual Issue””, this book aims to show how, in the author’s words, we can “”live our sexualities well””. By looking at how we should treat each other in the light of Jesus’ command that we should love our neighbours as ourselves, Ind is able to relate the human experience of sex to our ultimate knowledge of God. Ind acknowledges that, while there are many ways of being sexual, the memories, yearnings and fantasies of human beings, in all their diversity, reflect the multi-dimensionality of the creator and his works. She regards much writing on sex, and the prudish and censorious comment that surrounds it, as being dishonest and, in the end, blasphemous. This book aims to completely overturn the Christian consensus on sex, and challenges that mentality which shies away from addressing sexuality directly, or as something apart from those other God-given and fundamental characteristics of human beings that image the divine. Jo Ind has Multiple Sclerosis and, in describing her illness,

Psalms Volume 1 Print On Demand Title
$51.99Add to cartIn this monumental work, his most ambitious undertaking, the late Samuel Terrien brings together a lifetime of scholarship on Psalms, long the wellspring of Jewish spirituality as well as the main hymnal of the Christian church.
The book’s insightful and clearly written introduction treats such subjects as the longevity and ecumenicity of the psalms, their Near Eastern background, the Hebrew text and ancient versions, their music, their strophic structure, their literary genre, their theology, and their relation to the New Testament. In the commentary itself Terrien freshly elucidates the theological significance of these collected poems by putting readers in touch with the formal versatility and religious passion of the psalmists themselves. While Terrien always engages in scientific exegesis before drawing theological conclusions, he is careful to allow full expression to the theological – and, especially, the doxological – voice of these unmatched spiritual songs. The result is a commentary that provides a link between the archaic language of Psalms and the intellectual demands of modern thinking and spirituality.
Throughout his exposition Terrien shows great respect for the scribal testimony of the Jewish tradition, especially the consonants of the Masoretic text. He likewise displays great care in finding the most accurate meaning for Hebrew words of obscure origin. This meticulous work renders a translation of Psalms more reliable than those of Terrien’s predecessors. He also draws on many fruitful gains of structural analysis in discerning the strophic divisions within the Hebrew text. Often he finds unity of composition where earlier critics denied it. And for readers interested in specific aspects of translation and interpretation, Terrien has appended bibliographical lists of modern works on each psalm.

Aramaic Gospels And Acts
$28.99Add to cartIt is astonishing in our day and age how difficult it has been to obtain the Gospels presented in the Aramaic Language-until now. This edition of The Aramaic Gospels and Acts finally presents the traditional Aramaic text and an English translation in an affordable manner. The oldest Aramaic translations of the original Greek Gospels were finally standardized sometime in the third or fourth century as the version known as the Peshitta. The Syriac-Aramaic Peshitta version has been regarded as the standard version ever since, and is the same text presented here in the old Estrangelo letters. The English translation is linguistically conservative yet highly readable. Students of scriptural study and interested readers alike will find this edition well worth the wait.

Corporate America : Refreshing The Christian Business Man
$13.49Add to cartI am hoping that this book will help encourage those of us who are especially involved in corporate America. I will be the first one to tell you that this book isn’t a really deep one, but it’s a nice easy read. I have found that it is very easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, in the politics of corporate America, so that we lose our focus on Christ. Hopefully by digging into the Word of God we will be encouraged and will change our lives, especially to be an example while we are at work. Once again, this is a simple reminder and refresher, so we can focus more of our energies on actually doing God’s will, not just reading about what we are supposed to be doing. Let’s remember that Christ makes us who we are, not our jobs and busy schedules.

In Touch With Eternity
$24.99Add to cartRead this book. Come with me; see for yourself. You will learn lessons that you will never forget. Regardless of your religious inclinations, you will accumulate knowledge on many subjects. At first I thought I would write for the uninformed, the non-religious. But assuredly, I also wanted to reach those bright and upwardly mobile men and women who make things happen in global environments. I see them racing through air terminals-jetting to faraway places-with small Notebook computers, hand-held cell phones, opening one deal, closing another. I also want to reach those who commute to their jobs, balancing home and family responsibilities. Many of them do not allow time for spiritual development. I wish to make contact with them. Finally I want to reach the quiet ones. Those men and women who have succeeded in their chosen fields, and now they wish to reclaim some time for spiritual development that they forfeited in the pursuit of their success. Now is the time for you to be better informed, step forward and decide on major issues. Now is the time for you to take action and make a difference in this world. You who are the descendants of the Hebrew tribes, whatever degree of faith you have must decide. And those of you who are believing Christians, whatever degree of faith you have must decide. And for those of you for whom this information is new, I pray that my writings will enlighten you in your personal spiritual journey, to help you to decide as well.

My Sheep Hear My Voice
$13.49Add to cartIt’s funny how when we are first saved, we seem to understand clearly that we have a new conductor living inside of us-Jesus Christ. However, we often are unaware of what we are to do next. There is very little teaching on moving a person from the marriage with God to the mission of God. Why did He call you to His light now? What is your specific purpose? Where are you supposed to be in life right now? How do you fit into God’s plan? Countless converts have had a much heavier emphasis placed on not returning to where they’ve come from rather than focusing on where they’re going. God has given us five senses to use in this earthly realm. What spiritual senses has He given us? Whether you’re newly saved, newly rededicated, or newly revived, this book is for you. If you’ve lost your way since coming to Christ, then this word is also for you. God has called the authors to living in worship and prayer. If you’re ready to stop guessing, wishing, wondering, and hoping for direction in your life, then start hearing from the Lord now. It will change your life forever.

Justice Mercy And Humility
$29.99Add to cartJustice, Mercy and Humility explores the challenge of integral mission among the poor today. It locates the Christian response within a world of alternatives – alternatives at the macro-level of policies and advocacy and the micro-level of lifestyle and affirms the need to integrate ourselves within a total missional response to the poor. Combing case studies from around the world with Jesus’ own teaching and ministry, the book considers what it means for the church to be a countercultural ministry and in doing so raises new questions about what it means to be church.

King Of Gods Kingdom
$42.99Add to cartThis book addresses the problems raised by biblical scholarship concerning Jesus and his mission. Much of Jesus’ ministry remains a mystery; many of the things he said and did do not fit neatly into traditional Christian interpretation. He spoke of the coming of the kingdom of God but what become of this new age which was meant to be tangible and near? The King of God’s Kingdom in part is an attempt to uncover and understand Jesus and His vision. At the same time, Seccombe inspires confidence in the historical Jesus, overcoming much of the confusion that has been created in the last two hundred years. With conviction of the urgency of these issues for the Christian faith today, he presents a solution to the puzzle in the form of an account of Jesus’ ministry years.

Making Of A Christian Psychiatrist
$17.49Add to cartMany people, both physicians and laypersons, view psychiatry, a specialty of medicine, as anywhere from mysterious to menacing. Some of the strongest reactions come from Bible-based Christian people. Most of the people with mental or emotional problems that I saw in Alaska, in my nineteen years (19501969) as a medical missionary, needed more expert professional help than I was capable of giving them. This led to my undeniable attraction to psychiatric training after the Alaska years. Through all my medical years, I have inquired about every patient’s personal faith in God, if any, and what part it played in his or her life. Sometimes either the presence or absence of faith contributed to their mental and emotional state. My years as a primary care physician also served me well in evaluating somatic problems. Every believer in Jesus Christ as Savior is equipped to be a more complete person in this life, as well as a possessor of eternal life. I am equally convinced that any physician is a more adequately equipped professional when he or she trusts the Savior.

Our God Reigns
$19.99Add to cartFor those who may have been puzzled and baffled by numerous misinterpretations, Dr. Morey’s Guide to Understanding Revelation is an exciting and insightful exposition of the Message of Revelation. The theme of the entire Bible is the Reign of God that is promised and prepared for in the Old Testament, inaugurated in the Four Gospels, proclaimed in Acts, explicated and applied in the Letters, and visualized and dramatized in Revelation. The central message is: “The Lord Our God Omnipotent Reigns!” Revelation has been and is the strength of the persecuted, the comfort of the bereaved, and the wellspring of worship, as well as the inspiration of much magnificent music, poetry, and art. Its primary purpose, however, is pastoral and evangelistic, proclaiming the sure and certain Christian hope, and appealing to those in the kingdom of darkness to enter the Kingdom of Light.

The debate in many Reformed circles over worship music is only a small part of the larger question of Reformed liturgics. And dancing. All sides admit that the New Testament offers relatively little instruction on liturgy, and so the debate over the regulative principle continues with apparently little hope for resolution. In this study, Peter Leithart’s key insight reveals a prominent scriptural example of a liturgy that interprets God’s commands for worship in ways far more biblically grounded than traditional regulativism allows. King David’s tabernacle worship becomes a rich story, not only in respect to liturgical wisdom, but also to the significance of Zion in the fulfillments of the Christian era. -

Textual Reasonings A Print On Demand Title
$33.99Add to cart“Textual reasoning” is the name that a group of contemporary Jewish thinkers has given to its overlapping practices of Jewish philosophy and theology. This volume represents the most public expression to date of the shared work, over a period of twelve years, of this society of “textual reasoners.”
Although the movement of textual reasoning is diverse and multiform, it is characterized at bottom by the pursuit of the claim that there are significant affinities between Jewish forms of reading and reasoning and postmodern thought. These affinities are presently being pursued by scholars throughout Jewish studies, in fields such as the Bible, Talmud, Midrash, medieval philosophy, Kabbalah, and the Jewish phenomenology of Rosenzweig and Levinas, among others. As the essays in this book amply convey, their work has stimulated a lively and creative reengagement with the philosophical dimensions of Jewish texts and, even more, with the textual dimensions of Jewish reasoning. In large part, this new energy has come from conceiving of the postmodern as a place where some of the most distinctive features of Jewish reasoning can be elucidated as well as challenged.
A fine addition to the Radical Traditions series, Textual reasonings provides a superb review of contemporary Jewish thought.

Christian Worship In Reformed Churches Past And Present
$48.99Add to cart438 Pages
Additional Info
Worship renewal is now on the agenda of many Reformed churches, as the need for adaptation and new approaches is acutely felt all over. How can the church faithfully worship God in the midst of rapidly changing situations? How can it constructively relate to widely differing cultural contexts? What is its place in the wider ecumenical scene? In preparing a sweeping survey of Reformed worship across time and place, this volume provides some help to those engaged with vital questions like these.Written by theologians and liturgical scholars from a wide range of churches and countries, these chapters explore the history of Reformed worship on every continent from the sixteenth century to the present. Surveying the most significant developments in the growth of Reformed worship, the book identifies the major “ingredients” that make the Reformed worship tradition distinctive and highlights those aspects of Reformed worship that are particularly relevant to present efforts at renewal. Indeed, an important component of this book is the inclusion of “A Common Reflection on Christian Worship in Reformed Churches Today,” the result of a major consultation in January 2001 at the International Reformed Center John Knox.
Revealing the rich variety of forms and diversity of perspectives that have made and do make up Reformed worship worldwide, this volume will be a valuable resource for church and worship leaders both in and outside the Reformed family.

Abba (Student/Study Guide)
$12.95Add to cartThe Lord’s Prayer is undoubtedly the world’s most well-known litany of petition and praise — yet it is precisely because of its familiarity that we often recite it by rote and lose the power and depth of its spiritual yearnings. In this latest installment of the popular Another Look series, Ron Lavin brings the prayer to life with a fresh approach which reminds us that Jesus was teaching his disciples (and us) how to pray and how to live. The first word of the prayer in Luke 11:1-2 — the Aramaic word Abba, loosely translated as “Daddy” — clearly indicates the true nature of the kingdom of God. Jesus’ use of this term tells us that the Ruler of the universe is not only our strong, dependable Father… but He is also a compassionate and loving Daddy with whom we can have an affectionate, intimate relationship.
Structured in eight sessions, Abba is an ideal group study resource. Each chapter is filled with humor and anecdotes, and includes questions for stimulating discussion. There are tips to assist small group leaders, along with two fascinating appendixes that share a personal viewpoint on the Lord’s Prayer.
Abba is the third title in the Another Look series on the basics of Christianity. Stories To Remember studied the parables of Jesus; I Believe; Help My Unbelief examined the Apostles’ Creed; upcoming titles will explore the Ten Commandments and the sacraments. These books are excellent for personal meditation, use with new member or adult Sunday school classes, small group studies, and sermon preparation.

The stark contrast of the Devil’s enticements with the Lord’s redeeming message provides a stimulating vehicle for seriously confronting basic issues of faith, while reaffirming the Good News of God’s ultimate victory. The Devilish Dialogues is not only an absorbing resource for personal spiritual growth; it’s also a model for captivating presentations in sanctuary, classroom, and retreat settings, and is especially well-suited for weekly Lenten programming.

If A Sermon Falls In The Forest
$23.95Add to cartThis fascinating volume looks at the scriptural texts concerning a pivotal New Testament theme — the resurrection of Jesus — and examines how they may be read in various interpretive communities. Shepherd analyzes each of the major New Testament writers — Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul — and places their distinctive accounts of Jesus’ resurrection in the broader context of their entire output. Through a careful study of the literary, historical, theological, anthropological, and sociological dimensions that color each writer’s picture of the resurrection, Shepherd helps readers understand the unique view each brought to bear on the life of Jesus and the faith of his followers.
But that is not all this book has to offer. Each section also includes one or more sample sermons illustrating how a preacher might treat these texts for an actual congregation. Each message is introduced with a description of its original setting and the homiletical and interpretive issues involved — so this is an excellent resource for pastors looking for stimulating Easter material or instructive preaching models.

Idle Tale Becomes Good News
$15.95Add to cartEach chapter in this collection of twenty meditations considers a specific phrase or object related to Jesus’ ministry in his final days or in his resurrection appearances. In several cases, this is something intangible yet very distinct, such as Jesus’ prayer for his disciples, Pilate’s wife’s dream, or the astounding news of the resurrection which seemed like an “idle tale.” Other messages address objects that could have been seen and touched: the torn curtain in the Temple, ropes, scars, or the burial spices the women brought to the empty tomb. But whether tangible or intangible, each symbol reflects a significant event in the biblical narrative which Sheets explores to see what lessons can be drawn for today’s Christian living. This volume is excellent for adult Sunday school classes or other study groups, devotional reading during Lent and Easter, and as background for sermon preparation. A companion book of children’s sermons based on the same texts (Alleluia! by Elaine M. Ward) is also available from CSS Publishing Company.

Journey Of Stones
$7.95Add to cartDrawing on the rich imagery of rocks and stones in scripture, these powerful messages center around the compelling metaphor of stones (and our willingness to throw them) as representative of our sins. As worshipers enter the sanctuary they are invited to pick up stones as a concrete symbol of each sermon’s theme; then as the message concludes the stones are placed at the foot of the cross. When the stones disappear on Easter (just like the stone sealing Jesus’ tomb), it’s a vivid illustration of how the Lord also removes our stones of sin. Each chapter includes several thought-provoking discussion questions to spur further reflection. With messages for Ash Wednesday, five weeks of Lent, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, this is an excellent resource for Lenten midweek programming.

Is Human Forgiveness Possible
$15.95Add to cartForgiving those closest to us who have hurt us is one of the most difficult things Christians are called to do. For pastoral counselors the forgiveness issue creates a particularly serious dilemma, because it places counselors in the position of telling clients to do something their emotions vehemently fight against.
Is Human Forgiveness Possible? offers an effective way out of this quandary by giving the forgiveness issue an entirely new focus.
John Patton begins by scrapping our past understanding of forgiveness. Forgiveness is not something we do, he asserts; it’s something we discover. To truly forgive someone, we must discover that “I am more like those who have hurt me than different from them. I am able to forgive when I discover that I am in no position to forgive.”
Patton presents case studies from his pastoral counseling practice that illustrate the difficulty of forgiving and actively demonstrate his new solution to the forgiveness problem.

Welcome Silence : My Triumph Over Schizophrenia (Revised)
$24.95Add to cartThis is the amazing true story of one woman’s journey deep into mental illness and her return to sanity — and to a successful life and career. Carol North was diagnosed with schizophrenia in college. The story of her life is traced from her early life in a middle class small-town family in the Midwest. For many years, Carol struggled against overwhelming odds to achieve in school in spite of her illness and was finally admitted to medical school to pursue her hopes and dreams of becoming a doctor. In medical school, however, she slid further into psychosis and finally succumbed the inexorable incapacitation so often characteristic of the illness. Carol was fortunate enough, however, to find a skilled psychiatrist who understood her dedication to becoming a physician and who worked with her to stay well enough to remain in school. When all hope seemed lost, her doctor enrolled her in an experimental dialysis program, similar to the treatment given to patients with kidney failure. With this treatment, her illness went away and she no longer required medication for it.
This engrossing and ultimately triumphant story of courageous struggle against mental illness will inspire anyone who has ever had to battle for achievement against overwhelming odds. After recovering from her illness, Carol returned to school and received her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri in 1983. She then completed her internship and residency at Barnes Hospital/Washington University, and subsequently obtained a masters degree in psychiatric epidemiology (the study of psychiatric disorders in populations) while simultaneously pursuing a NIMH fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology at Washington University.

Serrated Edge : A Brief Defense Of Biblical Satire And Trinitarian Skylarki
$12.00Add to cartSatire is a kind of preaching. Satire pervades Scripture. Satire treats the foibles of sinners with a less than perfect tenderness.
But, if a Christian employs satire today, he is almost immediately called to account for his “unbiblical” behavior. Yet Scripture shows that the central point of some religious controversies is to give offense. When Christ was confronted with ecclesiastical obstinacy and other forms of arrogance, he showed us a godly pattern for giving offense.
In every controversy, godliness and wisdom (or the lack of them) are to be determined by careful appeal to the Scriptures and not to the fact of someone having taken offense. Perhaps they ought to have taken offense, and perhaps someone ought to have endeavored to give it.

House Of Prayer For All Peoples
$28.00Add to cartContrary to the oft-repeated truism, there are churches in America where Sunday is not the “most segregated day of the week,” as Sheryl Kujawa-Holbrook convincingly demonstrates in her compelling exploration of congregations tackling racial justice issues. Yet the truism continues to haunt many congregations, and Kujawa-Holbrook reveals, through story and thoughtful analysis, what it means to create and live out multiracial community.
Focusing on six congregations from different denominations, geographical regions, and settings, the author shows us the joys and struggles in their intentional pursuits of a more diverse and just community. The stories in A House of Prayer for All Peoples will inspire leaders to explore their congregation’s history, study their community’s demographics, and, most of all, search their souls for ways they can develop and celebrate the diversity in their midst. The book is capped by an extensive annotated resource list for readers who want to explore the topic further.

Completing The Circle
$21.00Add to cartOn his second day as association minister for the United Church of Christ, David McMahill received three phone calls from lay leaders who were looking for resources on “how to evaluate our minister.” He knew of several churches in which a poorly constructed process for evaluating the ministers had spun out of control, however, and had gradually come to believe it is probably better for a church not to attempt an evaluation process at all than to do one carelessly or to naively use a design intended for a secular organization.
Based on the needs he saw, McMahill began to work with numerous congregations looking for ways to review both leaders and ministries and developed the feedback/reflection process he lays out in this book. Based on sound principles of effective communication, this simple system of asking for descriptive feedback about various aspects of a congregation’s life together takes into account the specific setting and the unique relationship between minister and congregation.
The results: a respectful, constructive, helpful review of leaders and ministries in a congregation, and the creation of a culture of healthy communication in the congregation. Foreword by Clyde J. Steckel.

Dare To Believe
$13.49Add to cartHere is a story of one man’s battle with Parkinson’s Disease, and his victory over that pain. In this goal, Mark Sharp has been an inspiration as an author. He relays the immense struggles and life changes that took place for him and his family, and in the end we feel joy at his prognosis.
Here too, is a story of a Christian sharing his view of the gospel. If you are looking for guidance in this area, this is the book for you. I am certain that it will inspire many. However, if you are not interested in Mark’s view of the power of God and the Christian viewpoint, I suggest that this is not a book for you. It could be argued that the book is pure propaganda, but since it portrays the events of this man’s life, it is also a miraculous story.
The book is short but concise and to the point. The story is well written and the points of argument are well documented and introduced. While I do not agree with most of the content, the purpose of the author is fulfilled and I applaud him.
The basic idea of the book is comparing life with a game. There are rules to follow if you want to win and Mark spells out many of them and leads the reader to discover the rest on their own journey, and find their own coach waiting for them on the field. While my own coaches told me that winning is not important – it is how you play the game that counts, Mark’s coach told him that winning is the most important, and that is the fun of the game. Different philosophies and different outlooks on life, lead to different appreciations for this title. Take it as you will. Either way, the joyous result of victory over a disease is a reason worth reading this one.

Actual Proof Of My Existence Signed
$26.99Add to cartThe Actual Proof of My Existence Signed: God of the Bible is a book
showing the proof of God’s existence through undeniable but simple
number patterns in the Bible. Reading the historical and scientifically
correct Psalms will be enough to convince anyone that the Bible is the
inspired Word of God.
More than eighteen Psalms contain information about specific past
events from history (1900 to 2003). In each case, the Psalm number is the
year of the event; even the years of future events (2003 to 2050) are
explored. More than twenty-three Psalms contain scientific “key words”
with power numbers matching the numbers of the Psalms. One example
is Psalm 27:1: “The Lord is my light”; 1027 power is a photon of light in
science. The mathematical odds of these matching Psalms are greater than
1038 power (38 zeroes) to 1 that this would happen by random accident
or chance.
The Ark of the Covenant is explored and found to have numbers
matching anti-gravity from the chemical element table. The Tabernacle
of Moses can be proven to be a model of the universe and space-time
dimensions, equaling science numbers just recently discovered. The
book examines about six hundred key Scriptures showing that the verse
numbers equal either the scientific or biblical content of the verses. Many
more subjects are numerically explored in the Bible. The book guarantees
to show in a simple way using “pattern and number matching” that the
Bible is the inspired Word of God beyond any shadow of a doubt! -
Aramaic Gospels And Acts
$18.99Add to cartIt is astonishing in our day and age how difficult it has been to obtain the Gospels presented in the Aramaic Language-until now.

Portrait : Jesus Christ In The Book Of Revelation
$18.99Add to cartPaul Mellow was born to missionary parents in China and completed high school there. After graduating from Prairie Bible Institute in Canada, he pastored independent Bible Churches in the Midwest and Southwest. For the past 35 years he has made it a habit to read Revelation 4 and 5 every Sunday morning to focus his mind on the grandeur of the Lord Jesus Christ. This led to a thorough study of Revelation, and to the writing of Portrait. He found a wide-spread belief in the church that Revelation is difficult or impossible to understand, in spite of the fact that God called it “The Revelation.” He also found that people thought the book consisted of dark predictions about a terrible future, although God called it, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” Worse still, he found that many Christians tend to ignore Revelation, even though it is the only book in the Bible with a specific promise of special blessing to readers (Rev; 1:3). Mellow sees the book as John’s magnificent portrait of Jesus Christ in his various roles. First John identified Jesus as identical with Jehovah in the Old Testament (Rev; I), then as the Lord of the Church (Rev; 2-3), The King of Heaven (Rev; 4-5), The Judge (Rev; 6-20), The Good Shepherd (Rev; 7), Creator of the New Heaven and New Earth (Rev; 21), and finally; the Bridegroom (Rev; 21-22). The terrible events on Planet Earth form the dark background against which the artist paints his brilliant portrait of the Lord Jesus Christ whom he loved so well. Paul and Bernadine Mellow live in Carlsbad, NM. Their two daughters live in Friendswood, a suburb of Houston TX.

PART III: Essays On Worship And Liturgical Theology
Finis Coronat OpusAdditional Info
Begun as a practical pastoral guide to worship, this book balances theory and praxis to create a compelling case for a biblical, aesthetic, and covenantal worship service as the place where the Triune God and His people renew the bonds of love and loyalty. Jeffrey Meyers begins laying out a case for a covenant renewal service by means of Old Testament sacrificial liturgics, biblical typology, and covenant theology. He then guides us through the stages of a covenant renewal liturgy, explaining from Scripture the meanings of each step of the service. The final section addresses miscellaneous issues in worship, such as the use of creeds, the “regulative principle,” and ministerial clothing. Jeffrey Meyers provides not only a compelling biblical, theological, and historical case for covenant renewal worship, but also shows that it is beautiful, profound, edifying and liberating.Jeffrey J. Meyers is a graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary and pastor of Providence Reformed Presbyterian Church (PCA), St. Louis, Missouri. He has a blog, but we have aesthetic complaints about the length of his URL.

Gather Into One Print On Demand Title
$33.99Add to cartOne of the benefits of the multicultural nature of Christianity has been the introduction of the Western church to worship music from around the world. However, while many songs from other parts of the world are now available in Western hymnal collections, little has been written to help church musicians and ministers understand, appreciate, and use these songs in worship. “Gather into One” fills this void.
In this volume C. Michael Hawn explores the work of five of the most influential global church musicians found in North American hymnals: Pablo Sosa (Argentina), I-to Loh (Taiwan), David Dargie (South Africa), Patrick Matsikenyiri (Zimbabwe), and John Bell (Scotland). Hawn discusses the biographical background of each of these composers and elucidates the meaning of their music within their respective cultures. Having studied global song himself on site throughout the world, Hawn sees this music as a valuable gift from other cultures to our own sung prayers that can broaden the ways we pray and sing together in corporate worship. His extensive research leads to some intriguing proposals, with Hawn encouraging diverse expressions of worship, endorsing the church musician as a worship “enlivener,” and making a case for “polyrhythmic worship” in our churches.
A unique resource, “Gather into One” demonstrates the spiritual riches to be gained through multicultural worship and makes a concrete contribution toward realizing the worldwide unity of the Christian church.

$20.00Add to cartAn in-depth study of how the Ten Commandments impacted the development of laws in America and influenced the legal philosophy of government framers. Envy The Enemy Within (Reprinted)
$16.00Add to cartEnvy might well be termed the silent sin. Because while all of us envy others to some extent, few of us acknowledge our problem out loud, let alone try to overcome it and move forward. Bob Sorge draws upon his own pastoral experience–plus the admitted burden of his own envy–to show why and how it can adversely affect the ministry of a church and even prevent revival in people’s lives. Sorge reveals why comparison of our ministry and spiritual gifts to that of our fellow believers is to be avoided at all costs so that we do not hamstring God’s plan for our growth and the accomplishment of His purposes. This is a must-read for leaders of all churches, great and small–and anyone who wants the peace that comes with a life free of envy.

Mormonism : A Latter Day Deception
$13.49Add to cartMormonism: A Latter Day Deception is a riveting, often hilarious account of how a sincere believer was disabused of his confidence in the Mormon revelation. The author joined the Mormon Church in 1980. A year later, he received a Temple Recommend for the Washington, D.C., Temple. He entered the Temple a Mormon, but left it a non-Mormon. Mormonism: A Latter Day Deception presents a rare, detailed eyewitness account of the Mormon Temple ceremonies circa 1981. No other book of which the author is aware presents such a starkly authentic account of these secret ceremonies of Mormonism. As a Harvard Ph.D. in Political Science, the author was driven by his shocking experience in the Mormon Temple to research the origins of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He tersely and cogently presents irrefutable evidence of its true character. From the Washington Temple to the millions of rolls of microfilm in Granite Mountain to Joseph Smith’s Masonic rip-off, all is revealed and woven together to reveal the church’s foundation in darkness. If you want to know the truth about the Mormon Church, you will find it here-from one who saw it with his own eyes. The ambitions and pretense of this institution, termed by one author “The Islam of America,” is presented for the purpose of setting the captives free. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

Christianity Outside The Box
$13.49Add to cartLiving Your Christian Life on the Next Level Many Christians live their lives within a familiar box. This book will show you how to “bust out of the box” and experience all that God has for you. If you’re tired of unanswered prayers, of never getting ahead in your walk with God, or of struggling with the same old problems, then this book is for you. You will learn: how the words you speak affect your whole life, that there is much more power available to you as a Christian than you think, and that you were created to be a “conqueror,” and not live in lack or need. If you’re looking for a book that will change and affect your life, this is it! “Christianity Outside the Box carries a theme that is close to my heart-laying aside personal hermeneutics and pet theologies and doing it God’s way. It is a call for every Christian to step out in courage and say, ‘Lord, no longer will I be captive in a box prepared by tradition.’ It is a call for personal revisitation and revival. It is a call for perfection in our ministries. Finally, it is a call to get it right. “I highly recommend this book to every pastor, church worker, or Christian who truly desires to present the Word of God in a clear and crisp fashion.” Joel Philip Church, Th.D., Ph.D. C.E.O.
