  • Postmodern Pilgrims Progress

    $17.99

From the editor-in-chief and managing editor of the Babylon Bee! A millenial seeker travels through a twenty-first century take on The Pilgrims’s Progress with allegorical versions of all our modern vices tempting him along the way– as well as a few timeless personified virtues that just might see him through. Biting satire and uncommon wisdom from the creators of the internet’s most influential comedy site, and an author of national bestsellerThe Babylon Bee Guide to Wokeness!

Ryan Fleming is a young agnostic reeling from his brother’s death. Though he is deeply angry with God, he makes good on a promise he made to his brother in the final moments of his life: to visit a church at least once. But shortly after his arrival, the slick megachurch’s shoddily installed video projector falls on his head–sending Ryan through a wormhole into another world.

After a narrow escape from the City of Destruction, where the comfortably numb townspeople are oblivious to the fire and brimstone falling like bombs in their midst and destroying their homes, Ryan finds himself on a quest: To make it back to his own universe, he must partner with a woman named Faith to awaken a long-sleeping King–the World-Maker who can make all things new.

Replete with characters ripped straight from the twenty-first century American church–including Radical, Mr. Satan, the Smiling Preacher, and others–this sometimes-humorous, always-insightful trek parallels Christian’s fictional journey in Pilgrim’s Progress. Prepare to laugh, cry, cringe, feel convicted, and ultimately be changed by the time the story ends.

The Postmodern Pilgrim’s Progress is brought to you by Kyle Mann and Joel Berry, the two comedic minds behind The Babylon Bee–which, with 250,000 newsletter subscribers and more than fifteen million page views per month, is the most popular satirical news site on the planet.

  • Hikers Guide To Purgatory

    $16.95

One morning, attorney Dan Geary, seventy-seven years old, finds himself in the middle of a rolling, polychrome landscape. The greens are bold and bright. Birds sing in the distance. Tall grasses surge like a sea before the wind. He has never seen anything quite like it. But somehow–with the doctors and beeping monitors suddenly gone–he knows exactly where he is: the afterlife.

What a relief not to be floating on a cloud, playing a harp. Instead, a hiking pack full of gear sits on his back, and he feels the familiar itch to start walking toward the far-off mountains. But he finds there is no trail, no map, no signage, and no one else in sight. As gorgeous as the scenery is, Dan feels in his bones: this is Purgatory.

Growing up, he’d imagined Purgatory as a detention center for delinquent children. What a surprise to see its beauty, and to feel so much hope. Yet along the winding way, Dan starts recognizing his tangled, imperfect, often wasted life, and he wonders if he will ever be ready to meet God. With no clue how long his hike will take, he gradually learns–through memories and through encounters with other Heaven-bound hikers–how to desire the good, how to wait, and how to long for love.

With confessional honesty and a sense of humor, this book reimagines the purification of the afterlife as a tough journey saturated with faith, hope, and love–and with overwhelming beauty.

    $28.99

Sampa is set in a beautiful valley bordered on one side by a mountain range and on the other by a mysterious rain forest. At the foot of the mountain a river flows along the full length of the valley. For hundreds of years this valley was home to a people known as Sampians. The mountain range was home to various villages inhabited by tribes of primitive people whose culture was largely impacted by the fact that they were spirit worshippers. Their belief that the spirits were easily angered and that they could only be placated by constant worship and sacrifices meant that they were a fearful and superstitious people. The Rain Forest on the other hand was not inhabited by people but by a myriad of animals. The Great One of the forest was the tiger. In the early days of Sampa the Tiger and the people were enemies. The tiger killed their livestock and their people and the Sampians hunted the tiger. The tiger was the symbol of all that was fearful and uncontrollable.

A Covenant miraculously created between the Tiger and the Sampians meant that the people of the valley could live at peace and the Sampians became a people who lived without fear. One of the cultural characteristics of a society without fear is their love and generosity, which for the Sampians led to their welcoming over many years refugees from the Mountain villages. Some of these people brought with them their fear and superstitions and their propensity for violence and over the centuries the belief in the covenant which enabled the Sampians to live without fear was weakened and as fear grew the society changed.

The democratic government that the Sampians had always known was replaced by a dictatorship backed by a newly assembled army. Valued freedoms were lost, distrust between neighbors grew, family, sexual and other types of physical and verbal abuse became common place. • From Grace To Glory

    $30.00

Carolyn Staley has been serving as a pastor’s wife for over 45 years and she has been laboring over this exposition of PILGRIM’S PROGRESS for the last ten years.

In her own words from her Preface we read: ‘My journey to the Celestial City began at the age of nineteen when the Lord opened my heart, brought me to the Lord Jesus Christ, and saved me by his grace. In those early days as a young Christian, my tendency toward morbid introspection caused great mental anguish concerning the assurance of my salvation. During that dark period, I first became acquainted with John Bunyan when I was given two of his books, Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners and The Pilgrim’s Progress. At first I was actually afraid to read them, afraid that they would confirm my worst fears.

However, as I began to read and ponder these works written so long ago, a glimmer of hope began to arise in my mind. I was not alone after all! John Bunyan suffered the very same things and wrote of them. At last I could give a name to the spiritual turmoil I had so often experienced. It was the murky Slough of Despond. The tormenting fear that so often held my heart and mind captive also had a name, Doubting Castle, baronial estate of Giant Despair. Thus I felt an immediate affinity with the humble tinker of Bedford that greatly encouraged me in those first days of my own pilgrimage.

Many years later when I was asked to teach The Pilgrim’s Progress to our teenagers in Sunday school, I gladly accepted the challenge and began an in-depth study of that great work. Using those early lessons as a foundation, I later expanded and revised them into a series of thirty meditational studies that were published in Adam’s Rib, a monthly periodical especially designed for Christian women. These meditations provided the framework for an even more comprehensive study that resulted in the writing of this book.”

For readers of Richard Paul Evans and Melody Carlson comes JACOB’S BELL, a heartwarming Christmas story about how an unlikely friendship between an old man and a little girl saved a family.

Sometimes the road to forgiveness and restoration can be a rocky one. Set in Chicago and Baltimore in 1944 with flashbacks to the 1920s, JACOB’S BELL follows Jacob MacCallum on his arduous journey to redemption. At one time, Jacob had it all: wealth, a wonderful family and a position as one of the most respected businessmen in Chicago. Then he made some bad decisions and all that changed. For the past twenty years he lived in an alcohol-induced haze, riddled with guilt for the dreadful things he had done to his family and his role in the untimely death of his wife. Estranged from his children and penniless, he was in and out of jail, on the street and jumping freight trains for transportation. Realizing he needed a drastic change, Jacob embarked on a journey to find his children, seek their forgiveness, and restore his relationship with them. Befriended by a pastor at a Salvation Army mission, he struggled to transform his life. Yet finally he overcame his demons, but not without a fair number of setbacks. • Next Life : A Novel

    $10.99

One Christian’s adventure of a lifetime…in the NEXT LIFE!

What happened to Tim Carler is so hard to believe that he had to call his story a novel to keep from being mercilessly mocked (or locked up “for his own good”). But ironically, this account rings true in a way that none of the other “heaven tourism” books do. Unlike those supposedly non-fiction books, there’s nothing in this one that contradicts Scripture.

After the shock of finding his soul in the Intermediate State (IS for short), the surprises compound when Tim finds out who else is there, who’s not, and how different it is from our common conceptions. In a dimension not bound by time, he is sent on missions into the past where he meets some extraordinary everyday people, as well as famous ones like the Jewish Patriarchs, Adolf Hitler, and two favorite Victorian Charleses-Spurgeon and Dickens.

Speaking of Dickens, this novel is reminiscent of A Christmas Carol, but with much more gospel content. It’s a Pilgrim’s Progress where the journey takes place in the life to come rather than in this one. More modern comparisons could be made to The Shack (with better theology) and Alan Moore’s graphic novel From Hell (except it’s from heaven).

Next Life is an utterly unique genre- and mind-bending book that will make you look at life in heaven, and on earth, in a whole new way, and look forward to both of them like never before.

  • Haunted Man : A Forgotten Classic Abridged And Annotated By Dave Swavely

    $11.99

    What is a Forgotten Classic?

Great works by some of the world’s best fiction writers have nevertheless gone largely unnoticed. Unfortunate timing in the marketplace, inadequate distribution, and changes in public taste are just a few of the reasons for this. Yet many of these works can be as enjoyable and meaningful as far more famous books. Cruciform Press is excited to begin publishing some forgotten classics of special interest to those who enjoy fiction that intelligently explores matters of faith.

This edition of Haunted Man, by Charles Dickens, has been abridged significantly to make it more enjoyable for modern readers, while retaining every essential element of the story. It also includes an introduction with character descriptions and other helpful information, and a thought-provoking afterword discussing some of the spiritual issues addressed by the book.

A college professor named Redlaw is a good man plagued by bad memories of a traumatic childhood, compounded by a terrible betrayal and loss during his young adulthood. When an ethereal demonic doppelganger of himself appears and offers to wipe away those memories, Redlaw eagerly accepts, and also receives the ability to spread this “gift” to others.

Featuring the breathless suspense, colorful characters, and witty humor that has made Dickens such a beloved author, the story also tackles some of the deepest philosophical and theological questions ever raised in his writings. His answer to “the problem of evil” is of both literary and religious interest.

Charles Dickens (1812-1870) is one of the most popular and respected authors in history (A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities, and many more). Dave Swavely is a Dickens fan who knows what it’s like to be haunted by the past and delivered by the cross of Christ.

We invite you into those relationships that break your heart. We give you the life you never wanted, but it came at such a sweet price. We promised you the world and you took it like a kid wanting candy. All. Too. Easy. All I can say is, please, don’t let me get in the way of the worst ending of your life. I’m right behind you. • Pilgrims Progress: : Edited By George Offor With Marginal Notes By Bunyan

    $15.00

JOHN BUNYAN [1628-1888] was C. H. Spurgeon’s favorite author and his legendary work, THE PILGRIM’S PROGRESS, is the most popular book ever written apart from Holy Scripture. Spurgeon loved reading and re-reading this work, claiming to have read it over 100 times, many times with his wife reading it to him in afternoon relaxation and meditation. He often quoted Bunyan in his sermons declaring, “Though his writings are charmingly full of poetry, yet he cannot give us his Pilgrim’s Progress, that sweetest of all prose poems, without continually making us feel and say, ‘Why, this man is a living Bible!’ Prick him anywhere, his blood is Bibline, the very essence of the Bible flows from him. He cannot speak without quoting a text, for his very soul is FULL of the Word of God.”

This new edition is special because it contains the editing work of George Offor, who respected Bunyan so much that he always labored with all his might to be sure that Bunyan was permitted to explain Bunyan. This new edition has the marginal notes so apprciated down the years. These notes were drawn from Bunyan’s other writings where he himself explains the meaning of many of the incidents and images scattered throughout Pilgrim’s Progress.

Torren Daniels has been missing for two and a half years. His wife has moved on and is in a serious relationship. His kids have accepted his death. So when he shows up on their front porch two years and six months to the day he disappeared, they’re shocked and not sure how to react, mostly because Torren was a man full of platitudes and promises-which he broke 90 percent of the time-and a wicked temper. None of them can say they’re truly glad he’s back. Good man to the community, the business world. But behind closed doors? Not so much.

But Torren has changed. Radically changed. His wife and kids come first. He keeps his promises to them, and they truly become his priority in life. There’s joy. Playfulness. Love. A real commitment to God that was only a cliche before he vanished. The man he’d always been to those outside his family is now true for them as well. He’s been given a second chance. To see what life could be like if he could finally live out of the man he’s always wanted to be.

Torren has absolutely no memory of the time he was away and no explanation for the change in him. He doesn’t care. The old man has died and he’s finally the man he’s always longed to be deep down.

But as the months go on, his memory slowly returns. And the more the memories come, the more Torren slips back into being the man he was before. How can he hang on to the new man he’s become? And who is he really? The man he was . . . or the man he is?

Every child wonders where God lives or what God is like. In “Maybe God Is Like That Too”, a young boy asks his grandma where God is in their city. She invites him to pay attention to where he sees the fruit of the Spirit. Where love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are, there too is God. The boy sees God in the kindness of a doorman holding the door for a man using a wheelchair, in the patience of his teacher helping him tie his shoes, and in the love, faithfulness, and gentleness of his grandma. An ordinary day in his city opens this young boy’s eyes to God’s Spirit at work all around him “Schipper’s cheerful, screenprintlike artwork capably evokes the energy of a moderately gritty, moderately diverse cityscape.” – Publishers Weekly “Highly recommended for family, preschool, elementary school, Sunday School, and community library picture book collections.” – Midwest Book Review “A wonderful story to help illustrate the humanity of Christ Jesus as told to us in Philippians.” – Katie Barrett Todd, Union Presbyterian Seminary alumna, writer for Lectionary Links. “Maybe God Is Like That Too” is a 2017 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards winner-a contest intended to bring increased recognition to exemplary children’s books and their creators, and to support childhood literacy and life-long reading. “Maybe God Is Like That Too” has been selected as a finalist in the 2017 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards. • Giving The Devil His Due

    $21.00

Flannery O’Connor and Fyodor Dostoevsky shared a deep faith in Christ, which compelled them to tell stories that force readers to choose between eternal life and demonic possession. Their either-or extremism has not become more popular in the last fifty to a hundred years since these stories were first published, but it has become more relevant to a twenty-firstt-century culture in which the lukewarm middle ground seems the most comfortable place to dwell. Giving the Devil His Due walks through all of O’Connor’s stories and looks closely at Dostoevsky’s magnum opus The Brothers Karamazov to show that when the devil rules, all hell breaks loose. Instead of this kingdom of violence, O’Connor and Dostoevsky propose a kingdom of love, one that is only possible when the Lord again is king.

    $23.95

Sheikha Mona’s Daughter is the personal travel log of author Marinda J. Hochadel’s many world travels and her experience with people. This book stresses three points, which intersect with each other and are of great interest and importance to her. Her first point is the unnecessity of wars and conflicts. The hypocrisy of the world leaders creates anger, hatred, and intolerance among their respective citizens and political groups.

The second point is that human-trafficking, child slave labor, and child sex should be abolished, as they are a disgrace to humanity. Rich nations have the responsibility to see that human rights and social systems are enforced. Marinda believes ensuring all women and children in the world are educated will decrease poverty and stabilize nations. We all should join our hands against corruption that leads to the abuse of the poor.

Last, but not least, we should respect the religions and cultures of our co-citizens and tolerate other nationalities.

Marinda encourages her readers to think positively and respectfully about those whom we meet during our lives. She wishes that her feelings and thoughts are read all over the world.

Do we seek to have control over how we die? The question, of course, is whether or not suicide is an appropriate response to suffering at the end of life. Throughout the book the underlying theme is how we judge what is a right course of action–what drives a man or woman to forsake his or her own spouse and children?

As Light as a Feather or An Uncommon Affair shows us the intentional or unintentional factors that play on the lives of the chief characters and how they react to those factors. The major function that plays on the chief characters is lust and love and how they interplay. One of the factors that comes into play near the end of the narration is inoperable cancer, a factor that pushes all other life experiences and relationships to the rear. A prominent aspect of the end of the book is how the chief characters react to death.

    $12.95

You see, Hackleburg Methodist Church is a fictional congregation in rural Indiana, and through the years it’s given us characters such as: Marybele Hasselbaum, the head of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, who kept everything running smoothly until she unexpectedly died at 82, without a hand-picked successor Lush Larkin, former saloon owner who once was lost but was gloriously found (owner of Susanna, the Methodist dog.) Aunt Minnie Rittenhouse, who shepherded the Jesus’ Little Sunbeams class by reading from the Big Blue Bible Story Book and allowing some normal creative destruction. Members of the Hackleburg Church Choir, who sang joyfully, if not always on key. In the history of the Hackleburg church, we also hear of 13-pie potlucks (the loaves and fishes potlucks during hard times); weather-dependent picnics; rivalries with the Baptists; Methodist cuss words, like “heavens to Betsey” and fizzle-fazzle,” and the grace of God, which seemed to get those Hoosier Methodist through every trail-still speaking to each other (most of the time).

Often disguised as something that would help him, evil accompanies Christian on his journey to the Celestial City. As you walk with him, you’ll begin to identify today’s many religious pitfalls. These are presented by men such as Pliable, who turns back at the Slough of Despond; and Ignorance, who believes he’s a true follower of Christ when he’s really only trusting in himself. • Overwhelmed By Grief

    $9.99

Bongani allowed his grief to overcloud his reasoning, he believed that he has achieved all what he has achieved because his father was always there for him and after his father’s death he became fearful and doubtful. He became to say my Bow is gone which mean he is an arrow and his dad was a bow that helped him to shout. Therefore God send him a messenger to remind him that he God is still there for him and he also reminded him that it was Him who give us power to succeed in life. But in this book we see that God really meant it when he said nothing can really separate us from him. God gave Bongani a vision about Terry’s twins however he dismissed it as just a dream because he had the revelation while he was drunk and weakened by the demon of alcoholism. Terry as well because of her arrogance and greed, she was manipulated by the demon of false prosperity as a result she became a surrogate mother for the devil. And also through her wealth many dreams were shattered and destinies were diverted or delayed. In this book we also learn how people expose themselves these false prophets who go about deceiving people with false prosperity and how dangerous it is to trust on man for success instead of trusting God , people believes more on the power of network connections than on the word of God Deuteronomy 8:18 which says it is God who give us power to get wealth. Most people on Terry’s network lost their blessing to her as the demon were switching their luck with hers all in the name of power of connections because people forgot that to succeed in life is not based on whom you hang out with, or whom you know and connected with or whom do you play golf with but it is God who direct our step in Psalm 37:23 and in Ecclesiastes 9:11, which says chance happen to all of us. At the end God restored both Bongani and also used him to restore Terry and Steven marriage and God gave them triplets for the twins that went to heaven early.

A meteor explodes into the planet. Massive earthquakes rock the land as giant tsunamis engulf the coasts. Sleeping volcanoes violently erupt, filling the sky with clouds of suffocating ash, and soon, the world is shrouded in darkness. Last Day has come, bringing death, destruction, and despair. Yet hidden in a mountain valley, the Brigons manage to survive, but with no power and little food or water, their hope is fading into the eternal night. Then a voice calls out in the darkness and offers to bring them light. This is the story of Sam Mitchell, an engineer with one of the power managers in Brigos Glen. Seventy years have passed since light was restored to the village. Few remember the time before Last Day or the strangers who helped them in their time of need. But Sam has heard the stories and, with the guidance of his friend, seeks to help others as he goes about his seemingly unimportant, routine existence. That is, until he receives an ominous order from beyond the mountains that will change his life forever. For centuries mankind has sought God…not simply to find Him, but to understand Him. This quest has left many struggling in a maze of contradictions – one God but a Father, one God but a Son, one God but a Spirit – leading them to the ultimate question: Who is the Trinity? The answer is revealed in The Company by Chuck Graham, a clever allegory, carefully woven with surprising revelation of who God is, who we are before Him, and our calling to love and encourage each other.

  • Man Of Good Zeal

A generation ago, those who wanted to learn more about Francis life could turn to A Man of Good Zeal: A Novel Based on the Life of St. Francis de Sales, published by American novelist John Edward Beahn in 1958. This imaginative re-telling of the saint’s story, based on the historical records of his life and times, now comes to life again in the TAN Legend series of biographical fiction.

St. Francis was born in 1567 in Savoy, a duchy of the western Alps whose fortunes were largely shaped by developments in neighboring France, Switzerland, and Italy. Military and political conflicts there were heightened and complicated by religious tensions between Catholics and Protestants, whose leader John Calvin had settled in nearby Geneva and won a following in some districts of Savoy as well. Francis aristocratic father had great plans to position him for rapid advancement in this turbulent setting: He sent the young man to law school, maneuvered for his appointment as a senator, and chose a noble heiress as his future wife-but God had other plans.

This new edition of A Man of Good Zeal: A Novel Based on the Life of St. Francis de Sales tells the inspiring story of how Francis risked his life to win thousands back to the Catholic faith, transformed the Diocese of Geneva as its bishop, and wrote the spiritual classics that eventually led Rome to name him a Doctor of the Church.
